Close to attractions, far from noise
Great location, nice room, helpful staff.

My husband and I stayed here for 8 nights, it was really a nice stay and next time I go to ChiangMai, definitely will choose here again.

A quaint looking hotel centrally located

This is the second time I've stayed at Galare, and although it's a little more expensive than I normally look for as a budget traveller I like it's location and quaint setting enough to stay again, especially as I wanted something a little more romantic to enjoy with my partner.

Good for a night, not much else

Checked in just for the night during a stopover on the way to Chiang Rai. Room was clean, TV for some reason did not get CNN, only audio, no visual. The hotel sits right on the river and is down a long alley from the street. The bed was terribly uncomfortable and the air con unit was so loud it was hard to get much sleep. The place is old but clean. Not very comfortable though. But for the one nit I was there, it was sufficient, however, were I to stay in Chiang Mai for an extended period of time I'd opt to stay elsewhere.

Nice place, but need improvements

Staff is fantastic, location is good, but bedding is poor, water pressure could be higher.
This is good for the folks who want to stay away from the downtown buzz. It's still walking distance, but I rented a motorbike.

Quiet, away from city centre, but spooky...

Hotel is located at the end of a small road, next to the river, peaceful, quiet location, Thai Lanna style, be careful if you get back late at night, the night when I was staying there was no outside light within the hotel's property, need to walk up the stairs in the darkness to get to my room (were they trying to save electricity?), there is an outdoor balcony, if someone in the next room is outside you can hear them talking, great for socializing but if you like peaceful and quiet, request lower floor level, 10 minutes walk to night bazaar, 20 mins to thapae gate (Sunday's night walking), 10 mins to flower market. Overall was an okay experience, a little disappointed of what I had thought from others' reviews and ratings.

Nearly ideally located in a dead-end alley next to the busy nightmarket, with large rooms and sheltered porch with view on the garden and river. No luxuries like pool, elevator, minibar etc but clean, pleasant and relaxing. A bargain.
