The hotel itself on the other hand was bad. The room is tiny and right by the enterance. The floors are wood (i believe thats what coused the noise) so that when people walked around (and they walked around a lot), i couldn't sleep. It was drafty and cold. The internet didn't work. Not to write only bad things, the location is superb and maybe it would be better in sommer when the cold would not be an issue.

Also lots of stairs just to get to reception area which makes it difficult when travelling with lots of luggage. There is a lift to get to rooms but there is more stairs to get to the lift from the reception!

We have been staying at this hotel since 2001 whenever we are in Berlin which is usually at least twice per year. Staff can be a bit brusk, but when it comes to helping you with any problems you may have; we have found them to be really helpful. Staff at breakfast are really friendly and the food choices is really the best I have found in Berlin, in all the years I have been using hotels in what is a beautiful city. I have had some booking problems in the past, and found the staff on my arrival to be superb in resolving them. It is 3minutes from the main transport terminal of Zoologischer Garten where trains, underground and buses can all be found to take you to the main tourist attractions as well of course serving living and working Berliners. Get the bus 100 or 200 from here and you can get to the main places to see, Brandenburger Tor, Riechstag building, Potsdammer Platz, (from here you can wealk to Checkpoint Charlie. The Berlin Zoo is also less than a 10 minute walk from this hotel.
