Beautiful Traditional Thai Mai - Sak house ”
Pros - beautiful traditional Thai property - Good quiet tranquil location on the river downtown - Easy to get a Tuk Tuk into Ayutthaya for 100 Thai Bart - Great restaurant “De Riva” right next door to the property - Near to some interesting historical sights & ruins - Breakfast was adequate - Lovely staff, a big shout out to Bonnie for making us feel so welcome & to her dog Manee for giving us such a lovely welcome when we arrived. Cons - the river is a working river with large noisy tugs transporting materials, sand etc late into the night, so take your ear plugs with you ! - The riverside villa room we had sadly didn’t have a mosquito net & with it being a traditional Thai house on stilts there were gaps between the floor boards that allowed mosquitos to get in our room during the night. So be sure to take mosquito coils to burn in your room or plug in mosquito repellants - I was very surprised that there was no fresh orange juice or any other kind of juice

Wonderful place to stay”
Staffs were all friendly and helpful. I went during the weekdays so the place was pretty much peaceful. I only had minor issue with ants but it was taken care of after I informed the issue with a staff. I would certainly recommend this place especially for someone who love taking photos.

Impressive ”
The staff was very nice. The place itself is impressive, very big and beautiful with the river view from our bedroom. I highly recommend this place. For once in your life that you get a change to stay in this Thai traditional house, go for it! Worth every minute!!

Beautiful location, very friendly”
A somewhat older couple run this place and they are very friendly and helpful! The location is beautiful with a cosy courtyard with lots of plants and next to the river. The rooms are traditional Thai wooden style. Breakfast is simple but good. It’s not in the city center which makes it a very quiet area. More than enough places to eat are nearby. If we would go back to Ayutthaya we 100% would stay here again for the beautiful location and cosy atmosphere.

So good we came back”
Our second visit here. Love sitting watching the boats passing on the river and going for walks in the park. Staff are exceptional. Very helpful and friendly. Beautiful teak houses, great rooms and a superb big breakfast. Dogs along the road to the place are still a bit of a nuisance but not so much as before. Great riverside hideaway with bikes available to explore the main ancient sites a little further away (but the ones close by are free and also interesting). Staff will organise any transport, tickets, etc. that you need. Expect we will return again.

Great riverside accommodation ”
Stayed in the self contained wooden house beside the river. Price was not cheap - but a livery view. Be careful- I was Bitten by a dog in the street next to the place, causing hospital visits and no swimming for the rest of our holiday - The owner was very helpful and took good care of us.

Traditional thai house”
It is a a great and nice place to stay. The people are friendly and the rooms clean. The only downside is that it is located away from many places and you need car or taxi to tourist places or shopping malls or restaurants.

Wooden Thai-style house in the ancient capital of Thailand”
We love both the rooms with the Thai design and the balcony facing the river where you can sit and watch local barges passing with a historical site on the other side in the background. Breakfast is simple but enough to fuel your day.

Better than the rest in a quieter area”
We booked for 2 nights but ended up staying 5. Really peaceful location on the river with excellent staff. Even our small budget room had everything we needed. Breakfast was superb with a good choice. The beautiful teak building and decor are something special. Although further from the main sites than some places these were in easy reach by bikes or tuktuk. Also some of the more atmospheric minor temples and ruins are right next to the guesthouse. These are brilliant and you will usually have them to yourself. The area is an extensive public park with some great wildlife. Although set back from the main road this is a very busy and dangerous highway. The only shops and restaurants require walking along this road. There are also some aggressive dogs around the entrance (these appear to be a problem everywhere in Ayutthaya). Being so far out of town we think the price could be a little lower or the rather old single gear bicycles could free to use rather than 100 baht each per day.

Charming, beautiful and good value”
The Athithara Homestay is a beautiful, charming and fantastically located guesthouse right opposite Ayutthaya's magnificent historical parks. Really the location could scarcely be better. And the staff were utterly charming and helpful. Though their English is (very) limited and my Thai is rudimentary at best we still managed, somehow, to muddle through. The house itself is a fantastic traditional wooden Thai home. This has benefits and drawbacks. Firstly, it looks wonderful and the rooms are basic but really comfortable. However, the walls are simple wood paneling so you will hear what's going on next door :-) Also you will be sharing a bathroom. This is the one aspect of my entire stay with which I was less than overjoyed. Maybe I'm just spoilt. Overall though, would I go back. Yes. Yes, I think so. In retrospect, this is one of those stays where I will look back fondly and realize that it was far better than I suspected at the time.
