Great Value & New Modern Units”
I've stayed in many places in Samui but decided to try a new one based upon previous experiences of smelly bathrooms, power outages, mossie infestations & generally poorly maintained accommodation still charging a reasonable rate. Gave Baan Talay a try by accident because a friend had booked there also, but he thought he'd booked the place we used to stay - so ended up booking the same place becuase the rate was so good & wanted to steer away from the old haunts. So quite by accident I ended up here, and was hugely impressed with the units after entering through what seemed a very simple main lobby. The units were large, clean, contemporary with a great shower & no smells or dodgy plumbing. A slight lack of privacy as its straight on to the common pathway, but you just get used to nodding at passers by. Breakfast was the usual eggs of your choice, with bacon / sausages / fruit / cereals etc. Nothing exceptional but all you need. I'd go back tomorrow - they've really made an effort on this resort, not sat back charging the same rates for years on units that get don't get maintained. I went alone but the families hanging by the pool seemed to be well catered for, and the beach is 10 metres away. The location is a bit out of town (if town is what you want) and there's not much of interest nearby, but a 10 minute walk north & more shops & newer restaurants pop up. If it rains hard - it's going to flood outside Poppies next door to about 2 feet deep - so walk the beach way !! Unfortunately Samui (Chaweng especially) in the 15 years since the first time I went has expanded far faster than the infrastructure can cope with - Stick to the beaches & the main shopping drag (if that's what you like) - the rest of the town is a bit of a tip .... Made up for by Baan Talay being a good place to go back to, whack the aircon on & watch telly ....

Best hotel of our travels!”
We stayed at Baan Talay mid January as our last destination in Thailand after a months travelling around the south islands. The room we had was a garden view villa room and although we did not have a garden view we did not mind as you get all the views you need around the corner of the beach and sea! The pool was great and there was always enough sunbeds. The hotel is at the quieter end of Chaweng street which is good as it can get quite noisy there but we had no problem with noise at the hotel. Breakfast was great, lots of choice and their strawberry fruit shakes were the best i've had in Thailand! We got our room through a special offer for a very good price so we were very happy with our choice and actually asked to stay longer but the offer had ended and the increased price was not in our budget unfortunately, they did offer us a free upgrade to a beach front villa which would have been amazing though! Very much recommend Baan Talay!

Beautiful hotel! lovely pool, great room and staff”
i was travelling around thailand and stayed @ baan talay for 4 nights (a little more expensive than my usual accommodation as i have stayed in some dorms also). lovely rooms with comfy bed, spacious bathroom, fridge and tv with dvd player. breakfast had a lot of choice from fruit, cereal, toast, pastries and bacon and eggs (made to your choice). pool was stunning and you are only 30seconds from the main chaweng beach. it is about 10minutes walk to the main centre, but you are surrounded by shops and restaurants etc. and even as a solo traveller that did not bother me! couldn't fault it - would definitely go back alone, or with a friend / partner! i even tried to book it again for 1 night when i passed back through koh samui but it was fully booked. only minor negative was that the wifi sometimes disconnected

Cozy resort, beautiful beach”
we thoroughly enjoyed our five day stay at this resort. the beach was beautiful and the hotel was clean and comfortable. the ac works very well! the restaurant serves good food, but is overpriced as is most other restaurants in the area (that's just how is goes if you want to be in the area). the free breakfast had enough choices that we didn't get bored with the food. this is the first hotel we stayed at before moving to koh phangan and back to koh samui to a different beach and by far we found baan talay the best. would recommend to friends and family wishing to travel to the same area.

Beautiful Beach, Easy Access From Nice Pool”
Baan Talay Resort is very nice, our room was well taken care of and all things seemed to be in good condition. The cable package was pretty limited, however, and the wifi was terrible! Unfortunately, the weather wasn't great, so we couldn't enjoy what the hotel has to offer, but that's just circumstance and no one's fault. It was a very nice stay, food and drinks on the main road within an easy walk, I just wish the hotel would upgrade their wifi and/or their cable package. As we were rained in a few days, there wasn't much entertainment.

Cosy, convenient & quiet”
I am glad i selected Baan Talay. The layout is not too big that you have to walk a kilometre to the other end of the hotel, especially on a holiday. It is small and nice with beach villas. The thing about staying in Koh Samui is that you must stay in a villa. Hotels are available everywhere around the world but Samui has plenty of nice villas that you can just jump out your door and walk down to the beach. Baan Talay is exactly like this. The single storey villas are around the swimming pool and after the pool, is the beach, so you can relax on the beach or at the pool. There are 2 deck chairs outside the villa and places to hang your swimming gear. The bed is very comfortable and they provide beach bags and towels. The only thing i did not like about my room was that the toilet door is made of glass and the morning sun from the toilets come through in the morning but if you are an early riser, this is fine. Breakfast was the same fare everyday but there are plenty of things to eat from down the road. Overall, as a beach traveller, i find this a nice place with a nice quiet end of the beach to relax.

A quiet and relaxed getaway”
We stayed in a pool view bungalow at the Baan Talay and would have loved to stay in the beach view villa but they were full. This small complex is located right at the far end of Chaweng beach and having visited before and stayed right in the heart of Chaweng life we were a little disappointed upon arrival. However, having spent our first day there we really appreciated the peace and quiet. A song-thaow taxi costs just 100 THB (£2) to get you into the heart of things, and they are easy to flag down. The food was exquisite and very reasonably priced. Our room was spotlessly clean and towels and bedlinen were changed every day.

Biker Friendly Quiet, clean, well appointed room”
I needed to find a well located, quiet hotel on Samui to use as a base for my motorbike touring plans with friends on Samui, I was greeted well & professionally & found the parking area to be very secure for my bike, no complaints about the noise of the bike were given & all went smoothly, I would highly recommend Baan Talay as a biker friendly hotel, with excellent rooms & service!!! I will return soon.

Good Deal on the hotel”
We initially wanted to move to a different hotel. However, after scouring through Agoda looking for a hotel that has a good deal, we decided to stay on at Baan Talay Resort. For the amount of money that we were paying, we felt that it is of good value. The rooms were comfortable, clean, yea amenities could have been better but with the amount that we were paying, it was well worth it... Consider this place even though it's almost at the tail end of Chaweng but it's great to be away from the main street and all. 20 baht for a tuk tuk ride down Chaweng.

Loved it!!”
Booked a superior bungalow online, upgraded to a pool view bungalow upon arrival. Our stay at Baan Talay was a great experience. Lovely pool with a shallow kids area, easy access to the wide soft sanded Chaweng Beach. Wifi worked everywhere even down at the beach. Buffet breakfast was very good with lots of selection and the beach front restaurantlocation can't be beat. Quiet end of the strip. Would love to stay again on our next visit.

quite secluded”
we stayed in Baan Talay in low season. for the the first five days the beach was there but then in disappeared under water. I bet it depends on the phase of the moon. very nice and clean hotel. located a bit away from chaweng center (at the south end of the chaweng beach), that is why there weren't so many people in the area. luckily the beach was quite isolated and that exactly what i needed. i think the hotel would suit to families as there is a child-friendly swimming pool

one of the best hotel to stay in samui”
We loved our stay in baan talay. The hotel is pretty new and the design was nice and modern that makes you feel comfortable from the moment you arrive. Also the location is good, near enough to central chaweng for food, massage and drinks. We also loved the private beach front the hotel has, beats rushing with the rest at the public beach.

quite good”
to be honest, the hotel is quite good - very close to the private beautiful chaweng beach with not so much people, very nice food whatever for breakfast, lunch or dinner, staff is friendly, swimming pool is nice even for children, and the cost is acceptable. except - we got robbed!!! when the first night we checked in at this hotel, we came across the street from the hotel and brought something from the familymart, 2 guys riding motorcycle robbed me and took my bag away. i lost my iphone, 3000 baht cash, a credit card and some chanel cosmetics. fortunately, i didn't take my passport with me, or this would ruin my vacation - the street camera didn't catch a thing, the local police spoke very poor english and could hardly understand a common english conversation. so, that was my impressive experience in koh samui.

Simply spectacular”
We had the most amazing time at Baan Talay Resort. The staff was courteous, they even managed to help us find a misplaced wedding ring at 3 am. The check in and out process was fast. The rooms was large and comfortable. The location was the less crowded part of Chaweng. The restaurant faced the beach, so one could have a peaceful meal overlooking white sands. All in all a wonderful stay for those who want to be close enough to all the action, yet far away from the noise. A word of advice - take rooms which are not very close to the main road. The closer is to the beach the better it is.

A Delightful Stay - Will Return Again”
We had book 2 nights at Baan Talay and was upgraded to the Seaview Room as their Garden View rooms were overbooked. Was a pleasant surprise and the Seaview Room as lovely. The bed faces the beach and being in such close proximity to the beach allowed us to enjoy the sound of the waves crashing to the shore. The wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling balcony doors allowed us to enjoy the sun rise in the morning. Being able to enjoy the sun rise from the confort of your room and hearing the waves crashing to shore is indescribable. There was an ample spread of breakfast. Love it!

Amazing view from my bed!”
I booked this room because of the photos I saw, but WOW. When I checked in, I was blown away. The pictures did not do it justice! My room was "Talay #2," and it was one of the best rooms I've ever had in Thailand. The room was large and very comfortable. The view of the gulf was beautiful. The air conditioner kept the room cool even when the daytime sun was beating in through the windows. (I refused to close the curtains.) The chairs and hammock on my private balcony were wonderful, and we were only about 30 feet from the water. The room was really clean, but due to it's close proximity to the beach, we did find a lot of sand here and there. The breakfast buffet was small, but the food was ok. I am giving this resort solid 4 scores in almost every category, only because I never give 5's. Even though there was renovation going on (which I was aware of prior to my arrival), it was not distracting to us. I can't say 100% that this was attributed to the beach at Baan Talay, BUT... it was the last beach I was at, and I didn't notice anything prior to being there. I woke up with bite marks all over my legs one morning. We had been diving for seashells the 2 days before, and I think I got into some sand fleas on that beach. My legs were covered in itchy red bite marks. I looked over the bedsheets very closely, and saw no evidence of bedbugs, so I'm quite certain the bites are from sand fleas on the beach. I did see a lot of seaweed near the shore, and that tends to attract them. My girlfriend had no marks, so I'm pretty sure I encountered them on the beach. Not much the resort can do about this (that I'm aware of), but it is something you might want to be aware of.

Baan Talay Hotel”
A small and clean beach side boutique hotel. We has been upgraded to pool view room but it almost the same as garden deluxe room which we can't see the pool view as the plants have blocked the view. The room is clean and neat but the water heater pressure is not stable. The air conditioner in the room was noisy and the pillow is too firm for us. Breakfast not much choices but the foods are OK. The staffs are friendly. I have emailed to request for birthday surprise during our arrival but hotel staff has informed that they did not receive the email. The reception staff has offered me that they can buy on behalf of us which they asked their colleague to go the shop nearby hotel to buy for us. Overall a good stay at Baan Talay Resort.
