In general the stay was fantastic, the kids loved the pool and proximity to the beach. Rooms were modern, clean and spacious with particularly nice bathrooms. Food in restaurant was excellent in general and the service perfect, not overbearing but attentive and efficient. My wife also enjoyed the Spa treatment and the free gym is adequate. Some minor criticisms were internet speed in rooms v.slow, balcony was not cleaned regularly and some issues with locks on doors. Also the right hand side of the bay were the swimming in the sea may be done was very rocky and exposed at low tide. Alcoholic Drinks prices in the hotel are also expensive by Thai standards, although they do have happy hours. However, in general if you are looking for a quiet place to relax and get away from it all in a beautiful location I would highly recommend this hotel

This was our fourth stay at Bhumiyama resort, and we are hoping for a fifth. We have stayed at many tropical resorts around the world from 5 star hotels to hidden and remote beach front cabins. This is still our favourite. Combination of location, atmosphere, facilities, value for money and service make this place special. The staff really are amazing, can't do enough to serve. You have luxury accomodation right on the beach front with your own resort gardens and swimming pools. A very short walk to the local village. Koh Chang is a reasonably unspoilt but well appointed island and having seen many other nice resorts there, I would say this is the best.

The hotel is situated in a shallow, very rocky bay. Tons of reviews tell potential guests they won't be able to swim here -- so I'd ignore the reviews of anyone who complains about this. True, you can't swim, but the vista is amazing. My best day was spent at the waters edge on a very nice and comfortable lounge chair, sleeping, reading and looking at the lush jungle and mountain to the side of me and the beautiful water in front of me -- absolutely stunning at sunset. The bungalows were comfortable but not great. At this price point, who should complain. And, remember, I'd disregard the writers who complain about some bugs or a lizard scurrying down the side of the wall. First, you're in nature -- that's where bugs and lizards live and you're in a self contained unit not in a large mega hotel. To those complaining about bugs on this site I wish you many happy travels at Holiday Inns in Phuket or Patttaya -- or in Omaha. Again, gang, at this price point, a couple of ants and a lizard in the morning ain't gonna kill you. Many Thais vacationed here, though there were a handful of ferang who were very quiet. If you've traveled much in Thailand, it's always wonderful to have an opportunity to interact with vacationing Thais and to be around westerners who know how to act properly in someone else's country. I found that to be the case here. The staff was awesome -- very friendly and helpful and of course reserved in the way many Thais are. They all try to speak English -- the lead at the desk speaks it particularly well. I've read a few reviews on this and other sites suggesting that a resting spot using the word "resort" ought to have English speaking staff. Hmmm. . . Again, ferang, at this price point, be happy that you have a clean beautiful place to stay and that you might just have to struggle through a few hand gestures to get what you want. Since we were travelling during rainy season, on the first night, we were hit by a very bad storm that cut out the electricity for 12 hours. The hotel owner, Leong, made sure to look into the problem and give us updates. Despite this, since the bungalow is mainly concrete, we felt safe from heavy winds and rain. The bed was a bit hard, but the bungalow overall was comfortable, stylish, cleaned daily, and the showers were nice and hot. This being off-season, the restaurant was closed, so we were allowed to bring snacks and beer to the communal area and relax. We were also happy to eat food made by locals at the many street-side stands and restaurants in Bai Lan and Lonely Beach. We had a lot of fun on the motorbike that was rented to us by the Lazy Republique staff, and I was delighted by the friendly dogs and cats that greeted us as we walked by neighboring properties. Overall, this was a great stay and I would definitely stay at Lazy Republique again.

We extend our stay for whole week more since we simply fall in love with this place and wonderful manager Sylvia and Boy. This place has love is the air vibe, and if you are able to feel it you will never want to leave. We had a feeling that we have been friends with them for ages, even though we just met them staying at their place.They are not greedy and they will never take advantage of you (like in other places). They will try to help every way they can what ever you ask for.We really love them. Close to Gu Bay resort is Mercury hotel with lovely swimming pool that you can use if you get a drink (or not :)), and beautiful secluded beach with small italian restaurant where you can rest in hammock. For all the rest you need to have scooter which we rent for less than 5 eur a day. So it was very convenient for us.I would recommend this place to everybody with free spirit. Maybe is the best for solo travelers - not for families with kids (unless in hippi mood).

We were looking for a quiet place to get over our jet lag, and this was a great place! Bai Lan itself is pretty small, but there are a good number of restaurants and you're fairly close to Lonely Beach, Kai Bae Beach, and Bang Bao. We like walking, so we were able to walk to Lonely Beach. The owners are helpful, and the bungalows are nice. Bathrooms are unfinished but serviceable. Bungalows are not cleaned/serviced everyday. Breakfast is not included in the morning, but it is affordable and very tasty. Overall we very much enjoyed our stay at Jungle Garden.

If peace and quiet is exactly what you are looking for then Kwaimapar is the place. The resort itself is not too big and it is nestled in amongst the slopes just above Bai Lan Beach. The resort has very good menu options and generous serving sizes. Wifi is complimentary and their is even a Desktop computer for your use in reception. I got to even meet the owner and enjoy a few beers with him. Over all, I found my stay was pleasant and relaxing. The staff were exceptional in handling any request (even bookings for bus or ferry).

This is the place to go to! You have everything you need in Baylan Bay, like little stores, many restaurants, places to rent motorbikes... We had a little bungalow with lots of light falling in, a very comfortable bed and warm water shower. The sea is right in front and it has a very nice bar and restaurant. It is located at the end of a street and therefore very quiet. The people who work here are very warmhearted and read all your wishes right from your eyes. At Lonely beach you will find an Italien cafe, on the right side of 711 where you can find the best cappuccino and great bread. On the otherside you can go to Bang Bao, there is the great cafe Happy 420, where you can nourish your heart and feel the happiness of this place and it's loving people. Turn right at the first street.

If you like peace and quiet then this is a good place to stay.Bungalow in general, and has a very good restaurant names "sea terrance restaurant".You can come here by taxi(the pickup) from the ferry,100B per person.Just tell the driver"Bailan bay and sea terrance restaurant".The boss is very kind of Thai couples and don't know much about English but it's not a problerm.

i stayed here for 6 nights in total. the hotel is not in the more lively areas of koh chang, so if you're looking for something that has nightlife on your doorstep, this may not be for you. i really liked the location though because i enjoyed making my own way around the island on motorbike. its very close to lonely beach (10 minute walk at the most) and easy to get to the full moon parties! rooms are big enough and have tv and hot showers. the restaurant next door is fantastic and has live music every night. would recommend this hotel and would happily come back. great staff.
