Does not do what it says on the website ”
Ahead of the trip we checked with the manager that everything that was advertised on the website (room amenities) were as they were listed. We were told they were. We book a delux king partial sea view and decided to upgrade to the sea view. I am glad we did as that was the only salvageable thing about our stay. On arriving to the room, amenities were not as listed on the website there were no bath robes, no wireless phone charger, not enough pillows, no complementary beach bag, no beach towels. The room was tired looking, the bed incredibly hard - we live in Thailand so are used to ‘Asian mattress’ but this was very uncomfortable. The room was not as was pictured on the website. Again, I understand this is not always the case, but they were far from ‘sister not twins’ and more like ‘mortal enemies that had once bumped into each other’ There was no chair in the room, no rug it was a very sad looking space. I went to the front desk and had a challenging conversation with some of the staff, some were trying to be so helpful but one or two were being less than polite - unaware that I speak Thai. In the end a shift manager came to speak to me to say that the manager, who was not working that night, had not realised the full list of amenities were on the website and that the hotel just ‘didn’t have these things to offer guests’ but that I could ‘go to 7-11 and buy what I needed’. Back at the room realising that this was not going to be the relaxing vibe we had envisaged with our two kids and my parents, we realised that there wasn’t a shower just a shower head to hose yourself down in the bath and only two towels. Not to worry, we’ll just watch some TV - no you won’t, the pixels had pixels and it just felt we were torturing the kids with Cartoon Network and its mental white noise. I know, we will just stream on our devices - one of our children has special needs so, if you know you know, we are always needing to be near some regulation shows. This was the portion of the trip we’re we taught the kids about good old fashioned dial up and how ‘in the old days’ (the 90’s) we’d also have to wait ages to use the internet because the connection was pants. It.was.terrible. We had brought some toys for the kids to play with, within a few minutes a playmobile character had gone under the bed, my son retrieved it with a cigarette butt. I’m pretty sure the playmobile pirate had time to spark up and smoke a whole fag under there so that was gross. It’s also non smoking but clearly… jokes.. After a horrendous night sleep on our concrete bed, we got to experience the breakfast. I didn’t realise how delicious a hot fried egg was until I didn’t have one… or how wonderful cold fried rice was - yum. The hotel was a pull for us as it was 40 metres to the beach. Now I know it’s not the Seychelles but I didn’t envisage our stroll to be literally littered with condom packets. I know the hotel can do nothing about that but if you have kids, or if you are into sand castles, unless you want a prophylactic surprise in the structure, don’t bother. The hotel states that it is a luxurious 5 star hotel - it’s a 3 star at absolute best and that’s being generous. We are meant to be here all week but are now trying to get back home early and leave this sham behind us - if anyone has a recommendation for a good hotel comment below x
