"The hostel was really nice, there is a great mix of guests and a very comfortable common space to meet them in. I was concerned before booking as I had heard the beds are hard. There was nothing to worry about, I had some of the best sleep here I have had in ages."

"Highly recomend the hotel. The reception is at level 30 but we have no problems in transit during the time we stayed here. We stay room 2821 and it has the best view of sunset with 85 buiding. The breakfast is quite satisfied us. There are 3 big departement stores surrouding the hotel. We love duck rice in Kaohsiung. Best meal of us here. A local driver drove us to Duck Family nearby the hotel No. 395, Jianguo 3rd Road, Sanmin District, Kaohsiung City, Taiwan A very friendly and helpfull staff Rachel Huang helped us with our checked in and checked out. "Great budget hotel in the area and we love the bathtub in the room and the breakfast! The station, while relatively near, was a bit far and tiring for my mother and especially after a long day's worth of walking. Still, we would go back if we're looking for a place to stay in the area."

"had to walk a long way to the mrt station, almost the same distance to sanduo shopping district station or to shihjia station (2 bus stops). laundry at level 4 is self service, supposed to be free according to the guide given in the hotel room, but had to pay nt50 per batch, which is actually okay to my companions and i. other than that, facilities and the hotel service are satisfiable, just that my friend kept smelling someone at our level smoking cigarettes at night. breakfast is provided 7-10 in the morning but we could never wake up in time for breakfast, so we never tried how is their food."

"One of the best thing is it’s one of the most updated, most cleanest hotel. The room is spacious, comfortable and all the amenities and bed is fresh and new (for now). However, everything comes with a price, which the cost of per night per stay is high. Compared to other 5 stars hotel, this one is probably one of the best in Kaohsiung and other ones are very dated and old. If your finding a top notched 5 star hotel. This is one of them! Facilities like gym, sauna, hot whirlpool and pool are very clean and well maintained. I would’ve go back there again if I had the chance again. And one tip, next to the hotel there is one popular temple, you can visit that one if you have the chance! :) cheers! "

"Ejing is a neat little operation located in a residential building on the main road and adjacent to a linear park and shopping mall (on top of Sanduo MRT station). Unfortunately we were only in for one night as KaoHsiung was a side trip while waiting for a typhoon to pass Taipei. But the manager Joyce was friendly and helpful (we didn't have to test her English so can't comment there, but she's genuinely nice). Exit 2 at Sanduo MRT is the most practical, but it is a LONG flight of steps (not advisable with luggage). Look for the 'hidden' elevator near the Exit 2 stairs. There's no signs advertising Ejing which had us a little perplexed. After hoping to get lucky the best options are a) enquire at the FamilyMart at the corner of the building, b) discover the security desk at the lift lobby and ask them or c) run into some resident walking out who guesses what you're looking for and points you in the right direction - we got c). Curiously, 'reception' is more like a tiny office behind a portal wall at a side entrance. None-the-less Joyce was there herself, check-in was straightforward, she gave us some upgrade options (payable) if we were interested (eg higher floor, larger room - long stay go for it, we didn't). Joyce showed us up to the room, explaining the security, lifts, and the room - all good. Our room on the 18th floor was like a small master bedroom with an ensuite. Enough space for a sofa, coffee table, wardrobe, dressing table, TV stand with a DVD/stereo plus a few decorative items. There's a kitchenette area by the door with a sink, kettle and fridge plus cupboards/drawers containing an odd assortment of everything. The wallpaper catches your eye, ours was an English manor in a forest! The narrow balcony outside had a nice view, a washing machine, the a/c unit and good for smokers. Ensuite was like any other, functional with on-demand hot water. Grouting was a little 'grey' but the rest was clean and tidy as was the room. One word - 'comfortable'."
