Darjeeling hotels & places to stay

Mayfair Darjeeling a heritage property is a must stay for Darjeeling travellers ,its value of money . The property is large with extremely courteous staffs, excellent hospitality ... the cleanliness is perfect too . Rooms are nice , provided with warmers , blowers even hot pads are provided extra . Large breakfast spread gives ample options including the buffet dinner is excellent.. tasty foods ... the chefs personally comes and interact regarding the taste and improvements if needed . Tenzing room the library is one of the best place of the property . Want to stay at the place next time I visit Darjeeling . Will recommend others too.

The Pinewood Hotel only recently opened in the Spring of 2014 so everything looks clean and new, and the staff tries very hard to please. The hotel is centrally located but Darjeeling is built on a hillside so most streets are a steep uphill or downhill climb. A taxi can take you up a steep road to about 50 meters from the hotel. But the most direct way to get to the hotel is to walk up some stone steps – 133 of them -- straight up to the front door of the hotel. We had reserved a Deluxe room and we had a large window with a nice view (when there was no fog). The least expensive rooms seemed to have windows facing walls. Whenever we needed hot water, we had to ask reception to turn on the water heater. There are not many good restaurants in Darjeeling but the Pinewood Hotel restaurant has a short menu of tasty dishes. Meals must be ordered in advance – by 19:h00 at the latest. Internet connection in the lobby worked well. We recommend the Pinewood and would gladly stay here again.

Wanted a good quality hotel in Darjeeling, despite a few not very complimentary reviews I decided on Sinclairs. I was not disappointed, The hotel is very well run, spotlessly clean and the staff are wonderful. Good choice for breakfast, also I ate in the restaurant twice during my stay and was very pleased both times. One thing I would recommend is that even if Kanjenjunga is in cloud, the view from that side of the hotel is much better and worth paying the little extra for. The only complaint was that one night all of the public parts of the hotel were bitterly cold, although the bedroom was very warm.

Excellent location just adjacent to Darjeeling Mall . Hence pollution & noise free as no vehicles are allowed in the Mall.Amid the clouds . You can see and feel the clouds coming into your room. Hotel Lawn was excellently maintained. However, the property requires urgent re-fabrication with the modern amenities, ( something like Tripura Castle in Shillong) . staffs were excellent and food was delicious.

This was my second stay at the Viceroy and, after a change in plans, I returned for an additional, third week. I feel comfortable here and I love the view of Kanchenjunga, the third highest mountain in the world. The hotel is a short 5 minute walk to Chowrasta, the central plaza. The food is excellent. When there are sufficient guests, breakfast and dinner are buffets and offer a variety of Indian dishes and usually one pasta option for the less adventurous eaters. The hotel is clean and the lobby offers free wireless internet. Guests are greeted in a traditional, lovely way. The hotel's atrium style, classic photographs, and iron gated lift add character and beauty. The reception area closes by 10. The shower curtains don't keep the bathroom floor dry! Darjeeling is wonderful (tho not easily accessible: the airport is 3.5 hours drive, mostly uphill). You are in the "hill region," clearly in the Himalayans. The variety of religious groups means there is almost always a holiday celebration (adding great interest and also meaning some shops are closed on any given day). The market area, downhill, is fascinating. And the old colonial buildings further uphill provide a totally different architectural interest. (On the same level as the Viceroy, many are now hotels.) It is easy to meet wonderful people (local and international) in Darjeeling! I met many travelers right in the hotel dining room.

I absolutely enjoyed my stay at Villa Everest. The room I was given was on the top floor with an amazing view of Kanchenjunga. It was large, well-appointment and very comfortable. They serve you tea when you arrive. I don't usually like tea but the Darjeeling tea they served was delicious. What's best about this place is the warmth of the staff. This is a family run hotel and the hotel owner Justin is a very nice man who is always conversing with everyone. The building was built by the British in the early 1900s and had numerous functions before being bought over in 2008 and refurbished to its current state. The location of the hotel is slightly outside the centre but is only a 10 to 15 minute walk. The peace pagoda is a 15 walk down the road and worth visiting. Breakfast was really yummy with choice of continental or Indian. The hotel also helped me organize a private sector to Bagdogra airport at a good price. Definitely will come back here if I'm ever in Darjeeling again.

I stayed here for 2 nights and 3 days, I had booked the Privilege Suite. I don't have any complains regarding this hotel, I would give it 5 star but the prices are bit high, but it's worth it. If you're here for getting relaxed, this is the perfect hotel, the staff is very particular and prompt. The only set back is the wifi, it's not free, you could only use for an hour then you have to pay for it. The rooms are clean, tidy.

First of all the Cons: I booked a package from Agoda that includes Breakfast and Dinner combo..when I asked for Dinner The manager of the Hotel reacted explosively and said no dinner combo is ever given...I produced my voucher and after some heated arguments he agreed to provide Dinner. Tried to contact Agoda but unfortunately they didn't replied. Every night dinner was give but we was 3 people and if we ordered for chicken curry or whatever only 1 plate was given...it appeared that they are not pleased that they are providing dinner to us. 2. Housekeeping was pathetic they didn't change our bedsheets during our entire stay 3.Rooms are not so good as seen in the pictures Pros: 1.Excellent Location 2.Good Restaurant nd Food

There are several reason to check in this hotel: 1. Hotel is just besides a park with fantastic view of Kanchenjunga. You can wake up in the early morning around 5 and can see the natural view. 2. Kanchenjunga is visible from hotel room. Request them to get the room. 3. Staff was fantastic. Especially Yunsi in front office, sagar, chefs's, owner herself....awesome!!!!very helpful...seems like home. 4. Mind it: this is private property and solely handled by the owner. 5. Easy access on several places where no car required like mall chatter, chow Rasta, Zoo, cultural center, Raj bhavan. Personally I liked the place and my family loves it a lot. 6. Owner is good and friendly. If you face any kind of problem, I Guess she can gives you a solution. 7. Internet connection needs to improve. As I'm bit occupied with my official work, I need it 24x7. However in Darjeeling isp connectivity is too worse.

Nice place. Good food in hotel. All the staff are nice sweet n manner. Hotel cooking is superb. The price is reasonable. Value for money. The way to get to hotel is very narrow. Only one car at one time. For any evening walking you has to climb up n down. Not good for elderly people. Avoid going out after 7pm. It's dark. Basically Darjeeling is cold. With few time rain every day. So be prepared with small umbrella. With warm dress. Hotel is worth n value for money. If they could do something about the entrance would be good.

They only have wifi at the lobby and not in the room. Their water heater is available at certain hours in the day. Not sure if their rooms have heater during winter time because I was there during summer therefore AC or heater wasnt needed. Hotel is clean, proper, room service, good restaurant, breakfast. But other than that I think it is abit too pricey for a hotel in India (maybe because Darjeeling is a popular tourist place). No elevator.

Darjeeling was the coldest place I have ever experienced by far. I booked 3 rooms with a room facing Chowk Bazaar and 2 rooms facing hill side. Suprisingly it was the room facing Chowk Bazaar that was the coldest. Even the water heaters are struggling to heat up due to the low power conditions there. Wifi was out throughout my 3 day stay and no technicians are available due to Holi Festivals. Overall it is still a good place to stay with strategic locations to Botanic gardens and close proximity to Chowk Bazaar.

The sweet house nestles in a corner in the middle of the mountain, from which you can see the nice view of the whole Darjeeling and the farther mountains. The staff here provides excellent service. Since I was traveling alone and was very tired on the first day of my arrival, Wang was very caring and knocked on my door reminding me for dinner. The room service guys are also very nice. I phoned them several times for drinking water, shower, and spider friend on my wall! they came very quickly and helped me solve the problem with very good manner.

I had a booking confirmation from agoda on basis of which I had planned my vacation. When I reached the hotel the manager denied any such booking and asked me to speak with customer care of agoda, where after repeated trial I was told the booking id was invalid. I had to arrange for another hotel near by at much higher price and it was a very bad experience .Since I was travelling with a child I wanted every thing to be Prebooked but it was total harassment and waste of time

Being a summit hotel, rooms are quiet small. But the hotel is beautiful in terms of architecture and interior. Price can be a little less considering the smaller space. Food is good as expected from Summit. Best thing about this hotel is the height at which it's built. It provides a stunning view from every room. It's built on the highest level of Darjeeling hill from where you can see the whole Darjeeling including the Happy valley tea garden.

This was a great little spot on the hill away from the main town. Easy walking distance access to HMI, zoo, ropeway, etc. The food was AMAZING. I'd stay here again just to eat here again. The owner and family went out of their way to make sure we were taken care of, including adjusting meal times, buying train tickets and delivering them to our next hotel, transporting bags to our next hotel while we trekked... The homestay triple room was spacious and the shower was hot with good pressure. The double bed in our room was hard (for my American tastes) but the single was softer. We were in Darjeeling for a week of rain and Ramila and co. were so accommodating and trying to help us make the best of it all.

Hermitage is a good property. Every room has view of kanchengunga. Its location is good and staff are friendly and nice. Food although is not too great. Breakfast closes at 9:30 am and Kitchen closes at 9:30pm , both are very big problems for me during any holiday as it narrows down the relaxation. Also Darjeeling being a relatively colder and humid place, every room must have basic gadgets such as, room heaters, heated blankets, hair dryers etc..If that is not a problem, rest is great!!!
