Kochi hotels & places to stay

We stayed for 13 nights in this charming little hotel. It was Sir Robert Bristow’s house right on the seafront and by far the best situated in Fort Kochi. The feel of the place is colonial, the staff fantastic, the food phenomenal. Nothing is too much trouble and the chef Rehman, will adjust the dishes and spices to your palate if necessary. He can often be seen checking that the food is to your liking.The dining area faces the sea at the harbour entrance and dolphins leap before you in the sea whilst you take breakfast. Raghavan and his team look after you well in the restaurant. The beds are enormous four posters with firm mattresses the ensuite bathrooms very roomy with amazing soap.The hotel has 2 drivers who will take you on trips if you so desire.This is not a modern concrete tower hotel, this one oozes history, relaxation and charm.We had a brilliant time. Many thanks to you all😁 A difficult holiday to beat!

We had a one night stay at this hotel, during our travel to malaysia from kochin. Even though we just booked it on an opinion by a friend, we were quite impressed at the hotel facilities and hotel employees. The room were pretty good and since the hotel is new.. everything was wonderful. the rooms were spacious with balconies and the hotel location itself was in a highway and easy access. the employees were very helpful and check in and check out were smooth. the night we stayed the hotel was pretty booked completely, but still it was well organized and all requests were well handled. The only issues was the breakfast, which was not upto mark. the swimming pool was good, but could have been a bit more clearer water.. neverthless we had a wonderful time and pleasant stay at this hotel.

I only stayed one night, and I loved it! A delightful room with surprisingly good bathroom and confort level. Everything in the hotel was immaculate. The peace of the garden and pool area were just what I wanted and needed. The pool was clean and water felt almost body temperature on this hot April day. Perfect. Staff were attentive and helpful, obliged me by making a drink not on their menu, yet readily available most everywhere else in Forr Kochi so I suggested they add it to theirs. It’s a pity the consumption of chilled soda drinks has become so prevalent in India these days! Food was tasty and freshly prepared. A very limited Vegetarian selection though, only 4 choices on the menu which surprises me too. But Kerala seems to be less Vegetarian oriented than the rest of India. Overall I really enjoyed my stay here, and would love to return one day.

This is a lovely hotel which delivers. it is artfully curated without being overdone. the deck area overlooking the lake and islands is lovely. while i stayed there, there were roadworks which made my room (overlooking the street) unbearable - the team made a plan and moved me around to accommodate me. I only had a dessert at the restaurant and the staff were helpful and the food delicious. the only downside is that it is a little bit out of the main drag (2 min by tuk tuk and 8 min walk) but closer to other kochi sites and experiences. I didnt find it a problem but may be a consideration for others.

I stayed for one night on April 22 2019 with my family. My daughter, 3 years old, thoroughly enjoyed the property. The Pool is beautiful. Property is strategically located - back water on one side and Sea on the other. Rooms are beautiful and very well maintained. Buffet staff is very cordial and helpful. They took especial care of my daughter's diet. There are many activities - like bicycling, backwater boat ride, paddle boat etc provided by the hotel. Unfortunately we could not enjoy all the facilities due to time crunch. Would definitely recommend this hotel and look forward to stay second time whenever I am in Kochi.

We stayed five nights at the hotel, our longest stay of any on our trip to India, this gave us a chance to really get to know the staff. We dined in the restaurant on four evenings and had our breakfast (included in tariff) on four mornings. The service was superb and the evening meals on two occasions was an excellent buffet, on the final day we enjoyed an excellent thali lunch. This was my fourth visit to India. The room was of a good standard and well serviced each day. Overall a great place to end this visit to India. Excellent value.

I have been staying at Mercy Hotel regularly for the last 4 years and the service has been consistently excellent. From the manager(Mr. Dibu) to the bellboy, guests can always prompt and efficient attendance to their needs. The hotel itself is very well maintained and the fact that it is not a huge one perhaps enables the staff to give guest immediate personal attention. Slightly hidden from the main road, it is quiet and peaceful and yet close enough to the commercial centre of Kochi. There is no doubt that Mercy will be my preferred choice in my future visits to Kochi!

We really enjoyed our stay here. Our room was spotless, the staff were very polite and helpful and the location was very good if catching an early flight from Kochi. The only negatives we found were: the pillows were too high for us and they had no thinner ones so we didn't use a pillow at all. The drainage in the shower wasn't fast enough so the tray overflowed and flooded the bathroom floor, fortunately it does have a drain outside the shower also. We would recommend this hotel to anyone flying from Kochi airport.

A very friendly hotel. They rang my young son to wish him a happy birthday and pursued me down the street to return some left luggage we forgot after we checked out; all done with a big smile. Arranged pick up from the airport. Room service good, with very tasty food. Breakfast excellent with staff very attentive. Only disappointment was the pool was under repair & looked to be the permanent condition. One reason we picked this hotel was the availability of a pool, as we had a lot of down time in Kochi. Having said that l wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. Price. Well if you want a better hotel you need to pay a bit more. It was medium to expensive for India even with a discount. Cheaper hotels I viewed & visited seemed not to have as well appointed rooms, coffee shop or restaurant as the Travanore. In all a first class hotel for the price. Thank you to the staff as they always make a difference and they did in this hotel. They were excellent!

Dear Friends; I am a Travel Agent, so definitely I am well-aware of booking a Hotel Room or Air-Tickets with minimum fare or fees and maximum value. Here I booked a Room in The International Hotel for my family spent only 25% more than a Average Hotel and surprisingly I got a positive result. The Hotel really has 5 Star facility in all fields, including Cleanliness, Spacious Rooms, Good-behavior of Staff members with Smiling Face. Location can be called in a center of city and transport service is also very easy from auto, cab or bus. So do not think much more if you are visiting Kochi with family just book a room in this hotel without any hesitation if you really would like to get back the value of your money! And before to close I assure you would surely feel something more, special, different than any other Hotels you have visited till the date in your life!

Ferry to Marine Drive and Fort Kochi make this a convenient location (much less so by car). Grounds are extensive. Boasts an outdoor pool (near dining area). Room smelled of mothballs. Not much room for cot, which turned out to be a foam mattress on the floor. Breakfast very Indian. Coffee is instant only. Nightly Kathakali dance performance with introduction to the form available. This 45 minute performance is a terrific introduction for foreigners curious about the form but not wanting to commit to the traditional 3-4 hour performance. Historic palace building quite interesting. Front desk staff helpful.

Exceedingly excellent value at £30 for 1 night incl buffet breakfast. Best value of all 3 hotels that I stayed in Ernakulem, well in fact my entire trip. 40 minute taxi to airport at 7am but can be 90 mins later in day due to construction of new metro. My driver spoke excellent English, with wealth of local knowledge, employed/contracted to hotel so reliable. Spacious stylish restaurant with international menu and good wine/beverage list. Clean bedroom with super new stylish bathroom. Next to various shops. Market Street (great area to explore + excellent coffee shop, Coffee Cube) and Kochi ferry terminal 15-20 min walk or a 50-100Rp pleasant tuk tuk ride. HIGLY RECOMMENDED..assuming you get a good rate.

Very caring staff. Good compact rooms, comfortable bed. Toilet was also good and clean . Breakfast was fine and Buffet Dinner satisfactory, need improvement. One major drawback that I found was the lack of a proper lounge facility. So, just in case you need to meet with anyone for any business discussions, that was not possible. Hopefully they are going to get a bar and lounge facility soon. All in all I had a pleasant stay.

the hotel room we stayed was spacious and new, probably the rooms have been renovated not long ago but the wash room remains standard. hotel lobby lounge has contemporary design and a cosy place to have some tea or coffee. the hotel restaurant spring offers sumptuous dinner buffet, must try. hotel location is along kochi main road - mg road . easy to find food and shopping. highly recommended if you wish to stay a night or tow in kochi

Thank you to Dori and her staff for making my stay here perfect, from the beginning right up to the end. The relaxing time right next to the ocean, sunbathing, eating the very cheap delicious freshly prepared food, swimming in the warm ocean bath, and watching the dolphins each day was exactly what I needed. I couldn't have asked for more and could easily have stayed a week. The rooms are elegantly designed, very clean, and the staff are very friendly. I stayed for 3 nights - one night in room number 4 and two nights in room number 2 - both with sea view. I don't understand how this hotel has received some unfavorable reviews in recent months - maybe people forget that this is India and there will always be something not up to western standards. It was expensive for me but it was worth every penny. I strongly recommend this hotel (especially the sea view rooms) if you want to treat yourself for a few nights. You will not find a better place right next to the ocean in Cherai beach.

I will recommend it highly. Why am i recommending it - 1. Located close to the both mattancherry and the river front/ church etc. 2. Serene and peaceful 3. beautiful rooms 4. Impeccable housekeeping - night time turn down services ( so rare these days), also the rooms are cleaned almost twice a day . 5. Very generous supply of fresh towels and toiletries. 6. Restaurant that serves basic fare but delicious. 7. Very courteous and helpful staff If I visit kochi again then this is the place for me!! thank you for ensuring a great stay.

Highly recommend Hotel Presidency. The staff are fantastic (best in all the hotels we stayed at in India - they really made us feel welcome with our two young children). Great hotel with fantastic breakfast buffet (the view is incredible on the 7th floor, over looking all of Kochi). The rooftop pool and gym are fantastic to pass the day away. We would highly recommend!

Abaam is a boutique hotel that prides itself with comfortable and tastefully decorated rooms. The bathroom and toilet are clean and sanitized for hygienic purposes. The staff are very friendly, respectful and helpful. They attend to your requests and complaints almost immediately. The TV channels on offer are endless: managed to watch the cricket world cup matches here. The breakfast is good with a variety of delicious Indian breakfast fare on offer. The western section is limited but should satisfy those who wish to have a western breakfast. No egg counter though - if you wish to have an omelette, you can order a la carte (for which you have to pay). Coffee and tea are served piping hot!The location is not too bad; autos and private taxis are available right at the doorstep of the hotel. If you fancy the legendary Indian stage buses, you are not too far off as the entire Vytilla Mobility Hub (bus station) is visible and within reach from the lobby area. It is a little distance away from shops and restaurants though. You may have to hitch an auto ride or a private taxi to the malls in Kochi (Gold Souk - 2 km, Oberon - 6km and Lulu Mall - 7 or 8 km). Wifi connetion is excellent in the lobby area and it's not too bad in the rooms too. All in all, my stay in Abaam Hotel, Kochi was a splendid one. No complaints at all. If you are having doubts, worry not. Abaam will never disappoint!

We were at Gokulam for about four days - Two days with the group and two days with family. It was really a nice stay for us. The staff, food and ambiance was too good. The location is too close to Metro. One can also get autos or buses to go to east or west of the hotel. Asia's largest Mall - the LULu Mall - and the famous Saree shops - Jaylakshmi and Kalaniketan are easily accessible by Metro, Auto, bus from Gokulam. The souvenir Shop also has variety of goods and at reasonable rates. Only problem or minus point, we can say, was about Wi-fi which got disconnected pretty frequently - because the no. of devices we had ( 2 mobiles & One laptop) and the no. of passwords we got although were equal, did not really work. Apart from that, it was an excellent stay. Thank you to the staff of GOKULAM.

This is a beautiful hotel tucked away on a typically dusty Kochi road. The hotel is a converted old spice warehouse and it's in an amazing spot to explore the cultural highlights of Fort Kochi. The food is lovely and we looked forward to the tasty breakfast each morning and enjoying the views across the picturesque harbour. This is a perfect hideaway from the hustle and bustle of Kochi life on the streets outside. Our host Kaplana, arranged a local tour guide to show us the cultural delights of Kochi. Kaplana also arranged a theatre night out and tuk-tuk and taxi for our onward journey so everything was made amazingly easy for us to enjoy our time in Kochi.

My wife and I very much enjoyed our stay at the PJ princess hotel. We stayed 8 days and were very impressed with the helpful and friendly staff. The room was very clean and the restaurant offered a good selection of dishes on the menu. All the staff from the restaurant, room cleaning ladies, the reception staff and the manager were very polite, friendly and helpful. This made our stay very enjoyable. We highly recommend this hotel and it is only 4 kilometres to the ferry to Fort Kochi and about 45 minutes to Cheria beach and the other beaches in the area. Enjoy your travels on the local buses or Tuk Tuk

We simply loved this place. A great find just a 3 min walk to the famous Chinese fishing nets in Fort Kochi. The hotel is well preserved and charming and even though it is in a busy location, the hotel exudes quiet. The room (superior ground level) was large, beautifully decorated and very comfortable (including the bed). What makes this property so special is the staff. Every person without exception treated us like favorite family members. Breakfast (included in our room rate) was delicious (the masala dosa a must have) but the dinners - wow! The food was fantastic (curries, fresh fish, veg dishes) and so inexpensive (they can easily raise the price and no one would blink an eye) so we ate here 2 of the 3 nights we stayed. This is by far the best place to stay in the area. I recommend it highly and without reservation.

Blooms Cochin Hotel was a pleasant surprise. We chose it because of its proximity to a residential complex in which we had some matters to attend. Our past experience with 3 and 4 star hotels in Kochi weren't very pleasant. But what we saw at this hotel far exceeded our expectations. Clean (well-appointed) rooms, furniture, beds, linens and toilets. No moldy furniture and no smelly carpets (which was our biggest worry). Enough storage and desk spaces. Enough power outlets and reasonably strong WiFi access in rooms and common areas. Above all, nice and polite staff - especially the lovely young lady at the reception who always welcomes you with a pleasant smile every time you enter the lobby. (Sorry, I forgot to ask her name). Service as well as restaurant staff were also great and services requested were immediately attended to. Breakfast was good, even though continental choices are limited. Restaurant is neat and tidy and food we tried tasted good. Will stay there again...
