Kushiro hotels & places to stay

I travelled japan more than 14 times and far and wide. I have certain high expectations of japan ryokan and food. The buffet dinner and breakfast here have a good variety and high quality. My picky husband actually love the buffet. You really look forward to eating. The onsen here have many facilities too. We will definitely stay here again! Already thinking when to come back. Booked it for $400 for 2 pax. The only Sad thing is valet parking cost ¥400. Near the lake and ferry. Good location

Great Onsen and rooftop pool with beautiful lake Akan and Mountain View’s. Food is excellent with many choices. Room is large with all facility I needed. Onsen and pool open almost around the clock which we can spend hours in the warm pool watching stars in the dark night sky. The rooftop pool area has light illuminated with light instruments music while we dipped in the misty cloud pool. Love everything here.

Tsuruga Wings is a modern hotel conveniently located in Lake Akan town with beautiful facilities. It is connected to its more luxurious sister hotel and guests are able to enjoy the hotsprings in both hotels. The souvenir shop at the sister hotel proved a popular spot with local tourists, with the food souvenirs being wrapped up by the cartons. Although it was busy and seemed fully occupied with many guests, the hotel still felt relaxed and stately when browsing around at the ground floor. The dinner buffet was surprising with a mix of international dishes and quite appetizing in general. I was able to enjoy the beautiful and spacious onsen in quiet and peace by myself in the morning. Perhaps most guests chose to visit the other onsen at the sister hotel. The room complemented the whole tranquil feel of the hotel. One plus point of the hotel was that it has valet parking. The stay was well worth the splurge. I will consider staying again at this hotel group.

I realised just before checking in that I’ve made a mistake in booking a twin room for 1 guest instead of 2. The staff was really great and immediately allowed a complimentary stay (with breakfast too) for my husband. That really impressed me. The breakfast provided is excellent. This hotel is very comfortable (even without the onsen) and there’s free flow of coffee at the lounge. In the evening, they also served complimentary wine and a supper of rice with Japanese venison curry at the lounge. In addition, there were a range of pillows, shampoos and hair conditioners at the reception area for guests to choose. I strongly recommend staying here when you are in Kushiro.

Pros : - 1) Location is good. Just next to Lake Akan. Good view from room and lobby, face the Lake Akan. 2) Lake Akan sightseeing cruise just next to the hotel. Received 10% discount voucher from the hotel when buy the tickets. 3) Check-in was fast. Staffs were nice, friendly and helpful. 4) Got free coffee and ice-cream at the lobby. 5) Dinner was good. Waiters and waitress were nice and friendly. I brought along my 5 years old daughter. She stayed free for the hotel but they still prepared a set of dinner for her. 6) When we check-out, they prepared bread for us for snack. 7) Hot spring is big. Got 3 different temperature of pools. Very comfortable. 8) Hotel prepared a small gift for my daughter as welcome gift. Cons : - 1) Give me a different room booked. 2) Room a bit small. 3) Breakfast very simple and less choices. Overall still above my expectation. No doubt staffs's attitude and politeness hit the high score.

The positives: Beautiful lakeside location. But do make sure you have a hotel room from the 6th floor or up. Otherwise you'll be looking at trees instead of the lake. The room itself is spacious. There are a few nice shops in the basement. The negatives: The hotel is a bit dated. The furniture and carpets are heavily used and stained. The male (japanese) staff at reception was rude. Very rare in Japan to experience this. It is a large hotel with only 2 washing machines/dryers. Way too little. People were lining up for them. But most important: the location is super distant from anything. Having diner outside the hotel is a drive of 25 minutes to the nearest town, Teshikaga. So you do need a car. My recommendation.: Take a hotel at lake Akan and plan a day trip to Lake Kussharo.

The location is at the end of the main road, and between the hotel and the main district, there is no shop nor food at night. You would need to walk 10mins to the main district where most of the shopping and food are at. We had a rented car, so it was not a problem for us, 1-2mins drive. The hotel faces the sunset, from the room I stayed, I had a almost perfect view of sunset, and I have a good view of all the other hotels along the coast of the lake. From my perspective overseeing other hotels, I believe this is the only hotel with a good view of sunset without popping your head out of the window. The room was very clean, we had a room with two twin beds and includes a Japanese style tatami area, its a huge room considering that many hotels in japan are relatively small sized. Most of the staffs at the lobby do not speak english well, but always try their best to communicate with us when we need help. Perfect customer service I would say. You can see the sincerity of wanting to help you with your queries. Breakfast and dinner was alright, not exceeding expectations.

One of representative hotel in Kushiro. Room has nice view as I expected. Big window helps to enjoy the city view of Kushiro. Linen of bed was so fresh and clean enough to feel me want to sleep more and more. I think it could be difference between 3 stars hotel and 4 stars hotel. View from breakfast restaurant located on 17th floor was even better. Had nice stay in this hotel so much.

Clearly the hotel needs a refurbishment but everything is made up for by the views in the open-air onsen. Breakfast is very decent at 500 yen. I'm not a fan of buffets so dinner at the nearby izakayas is a better option as everything is within walking distance. The onsen is we'll-located between Lake Mashu and Lake Kussharo. So even if you don't drive, you can rent a bike or motorised scooter to get around. And near-by Kawayu-onsen station will take you to Kushiro, or anywhere on the JR senno line, so access is not an issue.

Basically we enjoy every moment of our stay in La Vista. We feel pleasant with the welcoming drinks and the natural ambiance of the resort! The room is so spacious and we love the view from our room, it can overview the forest and partially river scenery although we booked a mountain view room. Love to take a hot dip inside our room, we are so lucky to see some deer hanging around at the outdoor at night!!! The hotel is so lovely to provide some snacks, coffee grinder and a tea set for us to make our own coffee and tea! We love the dinner, which is kaiseki style and the seafood is so fresh, it took us 2 hours to finish our meal! The public onsen is the highlight of our stay as well, we love the outdoor onsen with forest view compare to the private onsen which have nothing special to shout of. There is a free ice cream and ramen at night after the hot dip. Also, the staff did arrange some carnival activities at the lobby :) Overall, we love this resort! Thumbs up!

Last spring break, I stayed two night at Hotel Crown Hills Kushiro. Based my opinion, this hotel is located very near from JR Kushiro Station. Around 5 minutes by walking. The receptionist is very helpful. They borrow us the umbrella when it was rain without any charges. They could speak little English but they need to improve their English skill. The room is very pleasurable. There is a big window inside and we can see a view from the room. The room is little bit small. The king bed and the pillow was quite comfortable. The bathroom is very comfortable and clean. There is a shampoo, body wash, hair conditioners, tooth brush,tooth paste, and hair dryer inside the bathroom. Overall I was pleased by the room, cleanliness, friendly personnel, free wifi, quite room, and bath room. I will stay in this hotel again when I am in Kushiro.

we had a lovely experience here. the rooms are pretty and the staff are just great, nice, friendly and can converse sufficiently well in english. they are very helpful. the hotel is literally across the kushiro station (which is also beside the bus station--which is important because train routes are limited and buses are necessary to travel to other sightseeing destinations) and walking distance to the recommended sightseeing spots in kushiro city (the bridge, the washo market, etc). this hotel is both nice and in a good location. just very happy to have stayed here. the only downside probably is the fact that they do no have wifi in the lobby and the pcs available for use at the lobby were not working or were quite slow when we were there. if you are not bringing a laptop, you can actually rent one, at a reasonable price.

It is very difficult to communication in Japan with my limited Japanese. I lost a parcel at the New Chitose airport. It is a Wifi card. No one can help me even the wifi rental Company. Axia hotel did help me a lot. When I was not able to call the post office at New Chitose airport. She help me to call the post office and help to send the lost parcel from Airport to Hotel. She is the best staff that I have even met.

It always feel good & safe to be able to find your hotel easily. For Super Kushiro, you just have to look left from the moment you step out of the train station and you will be able to see the white building with big yellow signboard, hence it feels like a dependable landmark which you will never get lost. Very friendly staff who will try to differentiate from your expression or perhaps body gesture, if you are new or current guest and differ in their choice of greeting. Breakfast is not bad and you get to see trains and sky light up. Pillows to choose and small sample gifts for your stay. Don’t expect a big room but it’s comfortable enough.

Love the Japanese style room, with tatami, futon, and all the traditional look of a Japanese room. A yukata is provided to wear when going to the bath. The location is within walking distance to Lake Akan, Bokke promenade, Akan bus station and to the souvenir shops. Most of the other hotel would be too expensive for a solo traveler but this hotel has that rustic charm at an affordable price. Good onsen is free to use.

The hotel is a five minute walk from the Kushiro train station as well as the bus station which are practically side-by-side. This is very convenient for those using the Hokkaido rail pass. You can get to the Kushiro Marshlands via the train or the bus. Everything else is also close by, including the Kushiro seafood market and the MOO center. The hotel offers a choice of Japanese and Western breakfast. I had both and was very pleased with the service and taste. There is also a Japanese bar attached to the hotel (you are given a discount coupon by the hotel) which opens until late hours. It is moderately priced and offers good meals as well as drinks. Room is small but efficiently equipped with all that is needed.

The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance from the Kushiro JR station and bus terminal. It provides services such as coin-operated washer and dryer,  complementary breakfast and curry rice dinner, plus pickup/dropoff to/from the JR station. The hotel room size is comparable to typical hotels in Japan and Wi-Fi is accessible from the hotel room. Overall, a value-for-money hotel package.

I could have easily spend a week here, but sadly could only schedule a few days. This area of Akan National Park has heaps to do - hiking, canoeing, fishing and onsens.It is very beautiful and totally chilled. The hostel is just as you would hope: clean, well appointed (with its own onsen), free Wifi. The best part was the evening meals where the the man for the couple who run the hostel cooks up a storm. Delicious traditional food for just 1300 yen! Don't miss it. If you are a nature lover seeking a refuge from the industrial madness of Japan this is your place.
