I've not been treated to such pampering at a budget-priced hotel... ever. Also they deserve awards for most-comfy bed, elegant bathroom, and ingenuity throughout the room. No one's perfect but my gripes are minor enough to ignore. So I won't mention... ok ok I will but it doesn't matter really. Toilet tissue was mid-grade, not the cheapest ever but not nice. And the A/C air handler was a bit noisy. But it's fine, the temperature and airflow were perfect. Both of these items were adequate for their job. Hard to find anyplace better in L.A. at this price. Incomparable!!

Nice hotel, the room was a decent size and very clean. The pool area was nice, though it's more for relaxing than doing serious lengths. The price actually dropped considerably after we had booked, so beware of this if you go for the 'No refund' option. We had an issue with the valet parking though. The hotel stated we could leave the car until 3:00 p.m but one of the actual valets said we could leave between 3:00 p.m and 4:00 p.m without any extra charges. However when I collected the car at 3:30 p.m I was told by the valet parking attendant that it would be a further $15, and the previous guy was nowhere to be found...wasn't happy.

We stayed here for the weekend of BlizzCon and it was a fantastic stay. The hotel is beautiful and close to all areas you would be interested in. One thing that needs to be discussed is that while my wife and I were at BlizzCon, an individual who stated they were security and needed to enter our room knocked on our door with my Mom and one-year old daughter inside. He refused to leave and asked my Mom to call a number to verify he needed to do a room check. My Mom complied, but it made me greatly concerned that this was something that was either not valid, dangerous, or should have been addressed when we checked in. This needs to be changed immediately for the safety and security of those individuals checking-in in the future.

Alex, the front desk associate, was very kind and upgraded our stay. We were on our honeymoon, and he also generously added a credit to our room. Overall, the aesthetic was great, very comfortable and the staff was very friendly. Needless to say, but the view from the 12th floor of the observatory was amazing. Sunday brunch at pot, couldn't complain about anything. Prosciutto Eggs Benedict 🙌🏽. Our server, Miguel F, was the best. I was most impressed by the casual and unpretentious vibe, while maintaining an excellent level of service and amenities. Would love to stay again next time we're in LA. Or you could just give us a free stay and I would book a flight tomorrow.

Stayed here on a very busy weekend in Los Angeles, got a pretty good price compared to the other hotels in the area. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Hotel is definitely a bit older but has been remodeled with new amenities. The location was perfect. Pool was heated and nice except the building shade blocks the sun fairly early in the day. Would definitely stay here again.

Got a great bargain for this upscale hotel through Agoda. Quiet ambiance throughout, no disturbances or noises from guests on either sides, hallway or doors opening or closing which was great! Beds were firm and comfortable, and bedding clean. Bathroom was modern and spacious, toilet had a bidet, if so desired, walk-in shower and bathtub setup was the best--great showerhead giving a wonderful invigorating shower, unlike many hotels that provide showerheads that just trickle water making for a very unsatisfactory showering experience. Improvements could be stronger lighting to facilitate makeup application, updated the slightly worn wooden furniture, and better dusting practices from housekeeping. All in all, a very pleasant stay in an LA suburb and would definitely go back again next time we're in town.

My friends and I wanted a hotel downtown as we didn't know how to drive. Being first-timers to LA, we were told it was very inconvenient if we didn't drive. So we were prepared for the inconveniences that came with travelling by public transport. However, the location of the Hilton Checkers couldn't have been better suited to our purpose! Two red line Metro stations were both less than 7 mins stroll away from the hotel (Pershing Square, 7th St/Metro Ctr). (The red line Metro serves Universal City where Universal Studios is. The red line also takes you to Hollywood Boulevard where you can see the Walk of Fame, the Kodak Theatre and all.) Just a mere 4 min stroll from the hotel doorstep is a public bus that takes you straight to the Citadel Outlets where we spent the entire day. Richard from Reception and Ruben the Doorman were 2 God-sent angels in the City of Angels. They answered our incessant queries with smiles and warmth, every single time. What they didn't know, they were more than willing to check online until they yielded the results needed. They definitely made our stay worthwhile. My 2 friends stayed in one room, and I, in another. We all agreed the room size were just right for 2 people. Not too small like some hotels that I've stayed at. Beds were comfortable, rooms were clean, bathroom with a bath-tub was the right size. Housekeeping staff were all very warm and helpful. Getting to and from LAX - It might be a good idea to get the hotel to arrange a car to send you to the airport. At LAX we took the Super Shuttle (a shuttle bus that plies the airports and hotels in the city) to the Hilton Checkers. It took about an hour for us to get to the hotel & costs USD$16 per person one way. Waiting time for the shuttle was about 15-20mins. The hotel car worked out to be more or less the same for a party of 3 and we could leave when we wanted and head directly to the airport. The travel time by the hotel car took roughly 25mins.

We are a young family who have found every hotel until now a total rip off and the American culture the worst on the planet. When we got to Venice beach, opinions were low and expectations were non existent.... However, the prices were fair, location was great, noise level was low and everything was as good as we could have hoped for. Agoda, I stipulated free parking so you still owe me money. Stop hiding charges!!!

Overall, it was a very pleasant stay at the Ambrose. The staff is fantastic. Everyone has a positive can-do attitude at all hours of the day. A very simple breakfast of coffee, tea, baked goods and fruit is included. Whole Foods, drug store, dry cleaners, banks, car rentals and a few restaurants are all walking distance away. As for areas of improvement: 1) the WiFi log in shouldn't require the user to complete six fields each time, 2) the front desk should tell guests to reserve the car service 15 minutes ahead and they will try their best to accommodate. Right now, guests are told 10 mins and when the car is late, guests get antsy. No guests will complain if a car came in 5 minutes when their expectations are 15. 3) the bicycles are stylish to look at but uncomfortable to sit on and awkward to peddle. 4) Despite closing the shower door, water leaks out because water running down the door falls onto a flat piece of tile. The shower door enclosure is not designed well. This results in puddles on the bathroom floor and a soppy bath mat. If someone slips from the puddle, that's a lawsuit. 5) Housekeeping enters the rooms too soon after a knock. They literally dipped their card, knocked and turned the knob faster than I could say no. I hoped they enjoyed their view.

Best hotel on the beach. These rooms are suites, with large bathrooms and oversized tubs. A fireplace in the living room area, mini fridge and electric stove that proved to be so convenient because of the little ones! the beds are super comfortable. Right on the beach, these rooms were at the center of everything yet no worries about loud music or craziness. Walk out of your room to restaurants, the beach, shops and more. Continental breakfast was delivered every morning. Book this place, you'll love it.

This is the second stay at Garland. We enjoyed our stay. They were very accommodating, we changed rooms without any problems. We had booked a accessibility room originally but the location of room was not what we had preferred and the bathroom counter space was very limited. We requested to be changed and they moved us without a question. They only downfall is the 15% service fee they charge at the bar, restaurant and gift store. That does get expensive. Also parking charge is expensive. My son lives there so he had to park while we were at hotel but never did he park overnight.

This hotel was quite nice overall. I had a huge problem with the very high background noise level in my room (no. 610) which was located on the top floor. Apparently above the ceiling of the top floor is where all the mechanical utilities are. I called the reception to complain about the noise and that I couldn’t sleep even with ear plugs. I was only staying for one night and the receptionist said she could not give me another room. Although the hotel never looked that full even at breakfast time. The noise was coming from either the A/C unit in the ceiling and/or the noisy ice machine right outside my door. It was so loud that I felt like I was trying to sleep in a cement mixer! I have never had this type of issue in any other hotel. There is obviously not enough sound proofing to limit the noise. Needless to say that I didn’t sleep a wink and would recommend that you get a room on another level far away from the noise..

The night before we stayed at a hotel/motel that wasn’t up to our standards. I quickly booked a room at Double tree and was immediately happy when we arrived. The staff was very friendly. The rooms were cleaned and marked with stickers to ensure our safety. I appreciated that because we just came from a hotel that wasn’t cleaned at all. The hotel is not far from everything: airport 10 mins, staples center 20 mins and downtown about 20 mins just to name a few. Great hotel, staff and location. You will not be disappointed!!! We’ll be back!!!
