"I stayed at this hotel for two nights while walking the Shikoku Henro pilgrimage. I was pleasantly surprised by my room. It was a typical Japanese room - i.e. fairly narrow and with a plastic molded bathroom, but it was clean, reasonably comfortable and pleasant. The view from my room was of the lovely Sukumo countryside with rice paddies and mountains in the background. The staff was friendly. Breakfast at the hotel was good, and there is a very nice restaurant just 50 metres away servind traditional Japanese fare which I also recommend. This hotel really offers good value for money."

"Akisawa hotel feels a bit out of date., but still works fine. I had a room with an additional tatami part where you can sit and have tea. The room was incredibly spacious. The door however didn’t allow me to enter normally, maybe 175 cm high, which is extremely low. Matrasses very soft. Good quality Japanese breakfast in a nice little restaurant. When I was there no staff capable of speaking English . I’m not sure I would choose to stay in Sukumo again, but if you must this is an okay option."
