My friend and I stayed here for three nights and were very comfortable. The hostel is not large but still felt spacious enough to be social in the communal area. It hostel is kept very clean and has everything you need, although there is only one shower, this did not prove to be a problem and both my friend and I were able to shower when we needed. My friend and I came away from our time in Asahikawa having really enjoyed our time here and much preferred it to our hotel stays as this was more fun and social. During our last night it was the eve of my friends birthday and when the owners learnt of this they went and got a cake so that we could celebrate, a really lovely touch. nothing appeared to be too much trouble and the owners are very happy to accommodate and get to know their guests. I needed to re-book a hotel reservation and was bale to use there phone line for a considerable time, the owners even offered to handle any Japanese translation if needed. My friend and I left feeling happy we had the time there, feeling that it had enhanced our trip. I would definitely return to the Asahikawa guest house should I travel to Hokkaido again.

The next day I was heading for Biei and Asahikawa, and a couple who stayed in the hotel with me offered to take me for a ride, and we went through all the great view spots in Furano and Biei! The only inconvenience is that the hotel is located in deep countryside, far from the nearest station -- Nakafurano, which itself is already a very small unmanned station with few stores and eating places. In holidays there are no buses. If you have a car, or are scheduled to arrive at dawn for the hotel owner to pickup, then there's no problem. Anyway I give my best recommendation for this place.

The steak dinner set is only 2500yen and it comes with soup, bread, sorbet and coffee. It's really good steak! The owner saw I didn't eat bread so she offered something else for me the next evening over bread. It was nice and thoughtful! I ran out of cash due to excessive shopping in Sapporo and the owner gave me a free lift to an ATM which was not so close by. (That's one downside of Niseko, you can hardly find any ATM!) Facilities: They charged by the number of persons and not by room occupied. So I got my own room only paying 5000-6000 yen a night. The room was nice and comfy. Despite quite some guests they accommodate, there are only two female toilets plus one toilet on the 2nd floor shared by both men and women. There are only two showers shared by all guests. Yet they manage to keep them very clean. You can really rely on Japanese for cleanliness. All in all, I'm satisfied and happy. If I go there on my own again, I'll stay there for sure. Otherwise I will at least come back for the delicious dinner when I ski at Annupuri!!"

This place is further than the rest of the other hotels in Abashiri, but the owner is very nice and friendly elderly gentleman. To get there: turn left when you get out of the station and keep walking down the main road until you pass a restaurant with a crab sign (about 200m). Then turn left again and keep walking (about 50m) until you see the Minshuku lamp sign (which is in Japanese). The owner can show you an alternative way through the carpark which is faster as well (walk through the station carpark then cross the tracks, then walk right down the road a bit more) The room is basic and you have to make your own futon, but there's a great heater (need to keep turning it back on every 2 hours tho), and fast wifi in the room. You can also order a basic breakfast of hokkaido milk + bun if you'd like. The owner can let you know what time the buses depart from the station for the ice breaking cruise, and allowed me to leave my bags in my room and stay in there for a late check out. There's is a western toilet and a japanese toilet, and a japanese style bathroom with a hot tub to soak in after showering. Overall the place has character, and the owner too! If you'd like something a bit different to the usual business hotels then I'd definitely recommend checking this place out!

Before I arrived the guest house I read that the guest house is far from the station and easier if by car. But surprisingly it's not that far. I arrived earlier from check in time and I asked if I can leave my stuffs there, I can and the owner allowed me to use the shower room and rest for a while. He's very friendly and he can speak English. The shower room is very clean, there's ofuro also but closed. My room is 6 bed shared rooms, and I met new friends there. It was my first experience staying in Japanese-style room and Hakodateyama so comfortable and homy. We can use the refrigerator if we have drink and also the glass, plate, etc. if you're hungry the guest house sell some snacks and instant noodle also beer. If I visit Hakodate again someday, I will stay in this guesthouse again.

The owners are very adorable and warm hearted. We talked a lot during the stay. Also, they can fetch all guests to ski area for free. The breakfast time was set at 8 am LOL a bit strict but this is what a guest house feels like. And!!! The breakfast!!! Pretty, Tasty, Healthy. After the dinner we went to a hot spring. We stayed at Alpine Central for 4 nights. Jenna and Rhys were very helpful and accommodating. We arrived late and Rhys came to pick us up from Kutchan station even though it’s after his working hours. He even sent us to the convenience store as all the restaurants were closed. Our room have 3 bed with one at the loft. It is small but that is normal in Japan. The bed is comfortable, a few power socket, air conditioner and radiator heaters are available too. Wifi connection is good. Continental breakfast is served, a simple one but good enough. Drying room and washing machine are provided, free if you have your own detergent or pay 200 yen for it. Shuttle to Main Village and Hanazono stop right in front of the lodge if you need to move around. Moorea is in the same street with a few nice restaurants as well. Convenient mart, ski rental shop, atm is within walking distance and of course Moorea crew, Tash and Andreas. Very helpful and friendly. They arranged everything for me from my airport transfer to ski equipment rental, just email them. It was a good stay.

They presist in living a healthy and simple way of life. I enjoy talking, reading and listening to Esashi's guitar with Mary, the lovely Japanese girl we stayed during these days. Had air conditioning. Breakfast was good, you could have different choices of drink (tea, milk, juice, etc), freshly prepared salad, and make your own toast. The location is very near city. There's limited parking on site. It's first come, first served FOC parking. The owner is very helpful and he tries his very best to explain. He asked about our plans and it's very nice of him to advised us not to go My Hakodate when we arrived as the view would be very cloudy. Definitely a MUST stay guest house in Abashiri. You can experience a stay in a farm house. The room we are staying is very clean and nicely decorated. Owner is super nice, she likes to talk to the guest, although our Japanese is not that good, and in the morning, she makes coffee for us. Can park for free in front of their house. The host always keep it clean and wipe any water spillage. Atmosphere is exceptional and peaceful, a fine place for relaxation. They have a lovely dine area to sit in for a good read. Breakfast is good and punctual. Definitely a gem and will be back for our next visit.

The owners and staff are very friendly and approachable who made you feel really like being in a "Guest House" than a simple hostel. It's a relatively small property than normal hostel, which is why it's a more "homey" place to stay. The only thing is that the location is a little bit hard to access as it's kind of up on the hill, but the owner was very kind to offer transportation to Otaru station, and it only takes 500yen taxi from the station, so it was not so bad. After all, it was a wonderful stay in this Guest House

This just opened last August 2014 so everything is new. All the amenities are complete and very clean. I availed a bottom bunk bed in a female dormitory of 8. A locker and key are provided to keep your important belongings safe. You can also rent towels and other amenities for cheap prices. The bed and pillows were really soft and comfortable. The bathroom was really clean. The showers and toilets are separated into individual rooms and the sinks are in a common area. Everything is very clean and toiletries like shampoo and soap are provided. Rates through Agoda for one night at Guest House Yuyu cost Y2,700 (₱1,149+). The common area has that wood cabin feel to it so it was very cozy. The Guesthouse Yuyu team was really friendly and provided everything that you needed to know during your stay.During my last night at the guesthouse, a few Chinese guests hosted dinner and we were all there talking and getting to know each other. It was really a fun night! It was really refreshing communicating with different people from around the world. I learned a lot. The guesthouse team is really amazing. I was really inspired by the story of how the guesthouse materialized. You have to ask the owner when you book a bed so you can be inspired as well! When I was there, they offered me a crowdfunding proposal wherein they would give me a 50% refund on my booking in exchange for a thank you letter to the people who provided capital to the owners of the guesthouse. That’s a pretty great deal and I love writing thank you letters! Some significant distances to note when you book this hotel: (1) 3 minute walk to/from Nijo Fish Market; (2) 10 to 15 minute walk to/from JR Sapporo Station; (3) 5 minute walk to/from Odori Park; (4) A 30 second walk to/from 7 eleven. If you’re a solo traveler or with a group of friends travelling to Japan on a budget, stay at Guesthouse Yuyu! The amenities are great and you’ll meet some of the best people from around the world.

Our room is big enough and basic, quiet even it’s next to the road. Being far from the main streets, we also got to see an impressive starry night and falling stars at night. It was really an amazing travel. I only have two days to book flight and hotel when I got my total one week vacation. There is no any information and I never been Niseko, so I just find this hotel close to Annupuri ski area. I finally stay this hotel 6 nights and appreciate they send me to Niseko station in final day morning to take train to Sapporo. It’s definitely a hotel over your expectations, don’t hesitate to make your reservations. I will absolutely come again for winter ski season.

Great place to access the great hot springs all over the town of Noboribetsu. You can see the place from the Noboribetsu (JR) station - it's a 2 minute walk. The Guest House owner is super chill and gave great recommendations. The hotels let you use their hot springs (Onsen) for a very reasonable fee. If you like hot springs, Noboribetsu Guest House is a MUCH more economical way to access this awesome resource.
