And yet, my stay turned into a highlight reel of suwey (unlucky) experiences: - Waze Typo – After a heroic 12‑hour drive, I managed to sabotage myself by typing “Bayview” instead of “Gurney Bay Hotel.” Brilliant. Exhausted, I surrendered to Bayview for RM300++ without breakfast. Nothing says “holiday” like paying premium rates for the privilege of eating elsewhere. Had I not made this typo, I’d have enjoyed three nights here instead of one expensive detour. - Double Booking – Thinking I was extending my stay, I actually booked two rooms for the same night. Because why not? Agoda shrugged, Gurney Bay told me to take it up with Agoda, and management offered me exactly zero consolation – not even a token discount or a free teh tarik. Later, I accidentally booked a sea‑view room, more expensive than the one I already had. The receptionist kindly offered to move me, but I declined. After all, as a penoreh getah, I know better than to trespass into the sacred territory of the T20 elite. - Late‑Night Incident – At 1:00 a.m., another guest knocked on my door, demanding I “keep quiet” over imaginary eating noises.
