Nice one to see Halong Bay – Super Tourguide”
This was such a pleasant experience! Our tourguide Chris was really funny. He told us a lot about halong bay, Vietnam and the culture. The cruiseprogramm itself was full of adventure. Kayaking, Tai Chi, cooking class and fishing was fun. Luckily we had sunshine for two days. The Golden Lotus Cruise has great facilities, nice and clean bathroom, well maintained boat. The food was outstanding! Great Sundeck with deck chairs to chill out and enjoy the scenery. The Crew was very courteous and friendly.We had a great time in Halong Bay and I will definetely recommend this boat to my friends. Visit March 2013

Amazing & Relaxing Trip to Halong Bay ”
The contact with the booking agent was very pleasant. She really helped us in a very short time and responded so quickly. We can highly recommend this tour with Golden Lotus Cruise. Everything was so smooth from the beginning to the end. The whole crew were great, very attentive, funny, professional and friendly. We are vegetarian and vegan and they cooked extra food for us which was so tasty, nice prepared and plentiful. The 2 day 1 night trip program was filled with a lot of nice activities including, visiting a cave in Halong Bay, kayaking, cooking class and for the early birds a Thai Chi class. We will miss the Sunset and Sunrise from the Sundeck and hope to be back one day. Thank you for such a nice Trip

great experience and service”
Great! I have read the reviews for Golden Lotus Cruise before I chose it, so I knew what to expect:); except the wifi was not working, a disappointment for most of us. Some people do prefer no wifi on the cruise. The itinerary was not as printed at the time of booking. It said that I would be transferred to Elizabeth Sails. The bus that picked us up had Elizabeth Sails label but then we were sent to Golden Lotus, so I was happy. The boat is bit old but still in good condition. The room is clean except for one small crawling insect and a mozzy in my room. The staff immediately assist with insect killer spray:). Food is abundant and special dietary requirements were catered for (e.g. non seafood, non pork or vegetarian). Great company of fellow cruisers was another highlights, not to mention spectacular views of famous Halong Bay

Our Halong Bay cruise was extremely memorable. The boat itself isn't the best but clean and comfortable. The Golden Lotus cruise does manage to pack in as many activities as possible so you get to see and do lots whilst on board. The four hour bus ride to and from Hanoi is the biggest grind but the same for all operators.

Beautiful Halong”
The stay at Halong Golden Lotus Cruise is great. The price we paid is inclusive of everything except drinks and tips. The transfer from Hanoi to Halong was on time and comfortable. Our guide is ok, not too much of talking. The cabin is clean but some of the rooms had minor problem with AC and toilet flush. The roof deck could have been better if it is painted and organized better. The food on this cruise was the best. It was probably the best food we had in Vietnam. We had Muslims in our group so we requested for non meat meal and they arranged for seafood for us which is great. Overall, it is really good value for every penny paid.

Amazing location... But horrible bus trip!”
My mum and I went on the one night cruise, which far exceeded our expectations! The locations was incredibly scenic and as the only vegetarians on the cruise, we were catered for fantastically- as were all other guests, there was always huge amounts of leftovers after every meal! The included activities were all highly enjoyable but the bed was extremely hard so not great for sleeping. Also, the bus trip to Halong Bay was far from relaxing- lengthy stopoffs each way at the same location for what appeared to be compulsory shopping and eating time- and a very bumpy road with what felt like no suspension which meant no sleep on the bus either! I would recommend travelling to the cruise departure point privately for a more relaxing trip. But would highly recommend the cruise itself!

My Splurge...So Worth It”
I was traveling on a budget but decided to spend the extra to do this cruise...best decision ever! The staff on the boat was amazing and very friendly. The activities were fun and well organized. The boat was clean and well maintained. Halong Bay was BEAUTIFUL and the sun deck provided a perfect viewing spot to sit and take in all the Bay has to offer! Don't miss this opportunity!

Excellent Cruise, disappointed with pick up and dr”
The cruise itself was excellent and I couldn't fault it. The pick up was not scheduled early enough and therefore we were late arriving at the bay which in turn led us to be eating lunch whilst trying to site see and missing some of the important features, also we were ushered off the boat early for lunch at a local restaurant but had a long wait for the bus which I ws told was running late with the next coach load for the cruise. Sounds like the company never pick up on time to get to the Bay on schedule.

All was well in the end”
all was well in the end, but please learn from our huge mistake. we were going to book this 2 night on-board cruise through a local travel agent over the internet who quoted us us$140 each. i checked on agoda and the price there was only a little more, so i booked there because of the added security. it wasn't until we were about to leave that we were told we would have to pay an extra us$80 in cash to the boat owners once we were at the dock. we were furious! it was then explained that on our agoda booking i had clicked the first option, which was only for one person. i saw that i had indeed made a mistake, and you must look carefully for the person icon to see whether it is one man or two, which i should have known. too late to cancel our agoda booking as it was the night before, so we paid the extra in cash at the dock, and then it was all smooth sailing. so while we thought we were being safe, we actually ended up paying a lot more than had we booked through the local travel agent. but all that aside, the trip was fantastic. boat is clean and the good is amazing. staff were helpful and tours are all great. only thing we laughed at is the nightly squid fishing. we never saw one squid the whole time. i asked one of the crew when was the last time that someone had actually caught a squid - he said a swiss guy got one over two months ago :-) don't waste your time. we would gladly go again, but would not make the same mistake twice. we also asked for a double bed. we got two singles pushed together with single sheets and single blankets. oh well. it wasn't out honeymoon. we survived the distance!

Lovely cruise but a bit old boat, top class guide”
It was a lovely cruise although the room didn't look like what was shown on the website. It is aged compared to the gloosy pictures on the website, but still it is tidy and clean. The guide was the best guide you could get anywhere. Just make sure the guide who checked you in know whether you booked for one night or two nights. Our room got double booked on our second night that we were required to transfer to the sister boat and they were very apologetic about it of the messing up by the booking personnel. It was a blessing in disguise as our room in the upper deck was better than our room in the lower deck of Golden Lotus.

The guide, Denny, was a really efficient and friendly guy who did his absolute utmost to ensure everyone was comfortable and well looked-after. The staff on board were friendly and professional. The accommodation on board was fine - clean and comfortable. Food was plentiful. Cruising the bay on a misty day was sensational. Don't be put off by winter. It's off-season, so there are far fewer people out on the water than in the summer months. If you are prepared to rug up, it's well worth considering visiting Halong in winter. It is still very beautiful. It just means you are less likely to take a swim.

Great Getaway”
My friends and I did the 2day 1night cruise. Honestly, we loved it! The staff was so kind and helpful; the food was delicious (good variety of meats, seafood and veggies); the activities were fun, but the views were SPECTACULAR! We couldn't stop soaking in the gorgeous beauty! Now, if you are coming from America, Europe etc. remember this is Asia so you have to be flexible and patient. Yes, sometimes the water in the bathroom would stop and you have to wait for it to refill. Yes, the cooking class was only a demonstration to make spring rolls, and yes the pearls at the oyster farm were overpriced, but either way I would do it again! I learned a lot of Vietnamese culture and got to experience one of nature's wonders! Totally worth it!

Lovely boat, poor backup plan in case of storms”
My friend and I booked a two day, one night cruise on the Golden Lotus. We were picked up on time at our hotel and taken to the Halong Bay pier by minibus which was included. It was well organized. The two day trip was supposed to include two full days on the water, nighttime activities such as karaoke on the boat, and energetic tour guide who is supposed to initiate the entertainment, a complete cruise around Halong Bay, swimming off the boat, kayaking, and all meals. We found out on the way to the pier that due to a storm we would not be able to sleep on the boat. This was disappointing but our tour guide assured us the only difference would be that we would be sleeping in a hotel on a nearby island, all the other activities would remain the same. This was not the case. The lunch we had on the boat was delicious and there was plenty off food. I'm allergic to shellfish and they prepared plenty of other options for me. We went to a cave which we were supposed to be in for 45 minutes but our tour guide rushed it, he actually told us to hurry up when we stopped to take pictures!! We were in the cave for only 25 minutes. Then back on the boat and we went started kayaking. This was fun even though it was raining. We were soaked and we asked if we could have the room we were supposed to be sleeping in to store our luggage and change and they refused. Instead they made us use the washroom which had no electricity because after the meal was prepared they turned it off for some reason. Then we headed back to land after only 4 hours on the bay! The hotel they put us in was the worst hotel I stayed in during my entire 7 week trip, and we were on a budget! When I checked the website I found out it only cost and I was sharing it with my friend. So they put $7 toward my accommodation which I hardly think is appropriate given I paid $130 for the cruise. I could go on but they should be more prepared for weather disruptions so it is still enjoyable.

Comfortable and friendly”
Pick up was as expected though we were transferred to another hotel at the 11th hour. Arrival was well on time and timing of activities were perfect. Food were great with many varieties of sea food served. Conditions were OK and comfortable for the price paid. Importantly the entire trip were made easy and enjoyable thanks to the helpful and friendly tour guide, one Mr. Linh. Great job to the entire crew for a wonderful experience.

we did the 2 nights 3 days trip and very pleased we did as you miss so much on 1 night 2 days trip. we went in march was very cold but it was all part of the holiday. the rooms very clean and tidy, the food was amazing fresh seafood and vegetables and plenty of it. our guide wasnt feeling to well but he still everything he could to make our trip very memorable.the staff were very good with their english.the beds are a bit hard but its only 2 nights.

Stunning scenery”
Amazing!!!!! Guide was excellent really helpful and very knowledgeable. The scenery is absolutely stunning - loved every moment of it. Went kayaking with the tour - great fun. Food - very very good - and lots of it - a very good variety of dishes. Entertainment at night was karaoke (some very bad singers) but a lot of fun. Absolutely loved this tour and will recommend it to everyone - 100% would take this tour again.

Low-end quality of accommodation and food”
The cruise did not meet up our expectation due to: - The rooms are worn off - The bed sheets were wrinkled and dirty of makeup, so it looks like they do not change the sheets after every visit - Our room was on the rear deck which is situated above the generator which was running the whole night. Meaning our bed was vibrating the whole night and it was pretty noisy, not a pleasant night. If you are a light sleeper avoid this room. It is the room with windows on both sides at the very back of the boat. - The food was edible, but the worst we hava experienced on our 2 weeks trip in Vietnam. - Bad qulity coctails cost 6$, which is a bit overpriced and for your own drinks you have to pay a charge. Taking into account, it is a bit overpriced
