Stay near the Friendship Bridge”
Situated a TucTuc ride from the bridge. A friendly and really helpful couple. The Madam cooked us an evening meal (simple Thai) and arranged for a Tuc Tuc to take us to the bridge the next morning. She even arranged for a taxi on the Laos side to take us to where we were staying. I asked if I could leave my car whilst we were in Laos, Yes, no problem at all. ( gave her a tip for being so helpful) Our car was there when we returned, ready for the trip back home

It all started quite badly when the map location listed took us 15km away from the actual hotel. We were already scheduled for a late check in but it got worse when we finally got to the hotel. The rooms were not clean and had stained sheets and bedding. We went to 4 different rooms to find one that was clean enough to sleep in. At 1130pm we made do so we could get some sleep. The staff were pleasant but the over all hygiene of the rooms and bedding was no where near acceptable.

We stayed here for four nights in the large family room , the staff were very helpfull and the room was very good value for money , facilities were good but the hotel is out of Nong khai closer to the friendship bridge so your own transport is essential. Hotel condition and cleanliness was super! We enjoyed the meals and our time at Hirun grand hotel very much.

Has Its Ups and Downs, but a Pleasant Stay Overall”
A good midrange choice in the Nong Kai area, with interesting decor, a quiet but convenient location and some very friendly staff (most of them apparently Cambodian), the Hirun Grand Hotel is a nice place to headquarter oneself while visiting this sleepy Thai provincial capital. The lovely front garden/pool area could use a thorough cleaning (the clientele, alas, is mostly Asian), and the Internet service in the rooms is quite poor, but otherwise I had a pleasant weekend and would definitely stay at the Hirun Grand again.

Pleasant time in Hirun Grand”
Very pleasant stay at Hirun Grand. Friendly staff and we even got our room just after arriving from the night train early in the morning. Kids loved the pool. Room was clean and we slept well even despite the two competing roosters. The bathroom could be better with a proper placement of the shower. It's not very nice to walk on wet floor all day. Hirun Grand is a bit far from the centre. It would be nice if the hotel had bikes to use.

Very Ralaxed”
though hotel was far from center of the city,this hotel was wothy of staying.sitting on the chair outside of my room,listening bossa nova and tyiping pc in the midnight,i felt i was really relaxed. but i wanted wall socket to use pc outside of my room.(smile). they played big sound of traditonal thai pop song in the morning and at night,but i think it tear apart piece of mind for being relaxed. except for reception girl,they cannot speak in english at all,but they always smile and kind.good personality. i want to stay here again.thank you for your kindness.

The Thai immigration officer pointed in the direction of the Hilun Gland Hotel: go back. It is situated beside the Frienship Bridge, could see the trafic between the trees but hardley hear it. Most hotel are situated in this area, certainly those with a swimming pool. Tuk - Tuk 100 to 150 bath for a trip to town or Lotus-Tesco. Arrived without a paper voucher and smartphone out of power. No problem,passport is all they need, good one Agoda. Staff comming from combodia(living and food free)heared about this a lot maybe after the raised thai minimum wage. And children are taken to school in the morning. After reading all the previous revieuws: everybody is right. The very friendly smilling staff could be thought about Thai food, it needs some improvment (my wife is from Lao but also worked as a cook in Thailand). Breakfast: toast fried eggs and some french fries as a garnish. There was jam and we were offerd some sausage. Enjoying this on the furniture made from old big trees was a feast to the eyes and comfortabal. Counting the birds building or restoring nests. Taking a shower before a early evening swim I see a family of chickens sleeping on a treebranche. Meeting with a small lyzzard, heating up beside the pool,on my morning swimm. This hotel can over you a mini experience for a few bath. I loved it. I almost forgot walk 200 meters and under the bridge you finf some thai foodstalls. Definetly would like to stay here again.

Excellent new hotel, very helpful staff.”
We enjoyed our stay here very much. Everything was new. The hotel and rooms are beautifully decorated. The balcony/terrace outside each room was great. The area around the pool had lots of shade and places to sit and relax amongst the orchids and palms. The hotel restaurant served good Thai food. The best thing was the smiling, friendly, helpful staff. They had limited English but were always trying to please us. The hotel is a bit out of town so a tuk-tuk or taxi ride is needed. For us the only problem was that the bed was very hard.

A small, nice hotel to stay at”
This hotel was situated in an alley quite a distance from the Friendship Bridge, so it was quite peaceful. The hotel staff was great. The hotel was painted in dazzling colors, which made you wonder if you were in cartoon land! There was free wifi in each room. We ate our dinner there, and, to our surprise, it was tasty and cheap! Breakfast was very reasonable, but the coffee was not as good as we wanted. Children would find the small pool a joyful experience.

Fair hotel with excellent services”
i choosed this hotel because it is close to the bridge to laos and did not exopect much for the low price i paid. the hotel room was ok for the price i paid. but, i was very impressed with the services from the front desk and the morning breakfast ( the brekfast was so so ). especially, the parkintg guy, i parked the car at the hotel and the guy drove me with a bike (modified with 2 addiotioanl seats, called skylap ) to the bridge and picked me up when i call him when i returned. i addition, i found my car washed after i returned from the bridge.

Friendly staff, clean, nice outdoor area, no mini bar or overcharged drinks in the room. You can buy well priced drinks from reception. Pool is very clean as is the whole hotel. Liked this place.

Good hotel but hard to find”
We had a good time at Hirun but was somehow hard to find, the street was wrong on the Agoda voucher. Anyway the rooms are clean and good beds. Only downside was that the bathroom was outside the room, personally i dont like that so much, especially with the mosquitos lurking...

Good hotel for border crossing”
I picked this hotel because it was close to the border crossing with Loas. I turned up at the hotel quite early and was greeted by a very pleasant lady at the reception. When she found out I was going to the border the next day she stranded a tut tut to take me to the border and informed me of some interesting places that were worth a visit in Loas. The only down side of the hotel were the showers which were barely warm. I was made to feel very welcome at this hotel and overall I would recommend it.

New, beautiful decoration and very kind staff.”
We staid a few days first, but then we needed a couple of more day. I ordered the same hotel.. Hotel have good food, very beautiful decoration and colors... The breakfast I got huge american breakfast when they did not have buffet..The buffet could have been bigger, but ok. The staff were very helpful... Swimming pool area is very beautiful.. All the rooms have a table with 2 chairs outside. Good service.. Low price..

Very Nice Hotel, poor location”
this is a very nice hotel that is practically new. the hotel should call itself a boutique hotel since it certainly qualifies. the furnishings and decor are excellent. the room was adequate in size with both a good size balcony and bathroom. the room also had a refrigerator and a 32 inch lcd television. unfortunately, the hotel is located an approximate 50 minute walk from the riverfront restaurant area in nong khai (60 baht in each direction by tuk tuk). also, there was a rooster(s)next door that sounded out beginning at 2:00 to 3:00 am most mornings. the staff was very pleasant. on my last day they were not quite set up for breakfast and, as i drank my coffee, one of the staff members brought me a special prepared breakfast plate.
