"We picked this hotel by chance as it wasn't listed on the first 1-3 pages of Agoda's site. We chose it from looking at the map instead. We were deliberating whether to stay in Bo Phut or Chaweng. I'm glad we picked Chaweng as the concentration of eateries and entertainment venues here are higher therefore making it more fun to stroll in the evenings. The location of Montien 1/4 of the way into Chaweng street makes this location unbeatable for convenience. Apart from that, Montien is also situated off the busy Chaweng street at the end of a 50m cul-de-sac which makes this hotel relatively quiet and shielded from all the hullabaloo nearby. Given the price, you get a very spacious room with equally spacious bathroom. We had some clogging problem in the shower room trap but there is good hot running water and given the value proposition, we didn't complain. The pool is smallish about 17m and good enough for a nice dip. The hotel shares the same stretch of Chaweng beach as the rest of the hotels in this area and we could walk anywhere on this long beach to catch the perfect spot and better waves. The breakfast is limited in variety but what they have, it's good enough. As we were leaving for the jetty at 6am, the hotel was nice enough to prepare for us a breakfast box of sandwiches and fruits the evening before. If you are in the mood for some adventure, you could rent a scooter from the hotel itself which you could entrust your passport with. Other street vendors will only rent you their scooters if you surrender your passport or pay about 3000 baht as collateral. We were a bit squeamish about giving our passports to some stranger or paying the hefty deposit. We would never surrender our passports under any normal circumstance but I guess the hotel management was a more trustworthy vendor. Overall, we would definitely consider returning to Montien on our next trip to Samui! "

"We really enjoyed our stay at amari. The resort is not as centrally located in chaweng as we would have liked but thats the trade off for a superior hotel. Saying that, it was still walking distance to everything in chaweng including the boxing stadium and all the bars (even the ice bar although that was a good 30mins walk). Hotel staff were really helpful such as wifi issues (free wifi here) as well as providing items for the rooms. This occuered very quickly and promptly "

"Ok. The first time I visited Thailand, I stayed in Lub D Phuket. They set the gold standard and I was highly impressed and happy with the facilities, overall value and staff. Job well done! I am now a Lub D fan and always look for their accommodations first. This year, I head over to Koh Samui and book Lub D on Chaweng Beach. I was blown away. Bravo! I always love the staff from security, room cleaners, reception to the kitchen and ones that were just roaming around and socializing with the guest to make them feel more comfortable! Excellent job! The condition of the room, location was excellent, if not awesome. Highly recommended. It is situated next to all popular areas and it is literally a few inches away from the beach. You can literally trip off the sunbathing deck and fall into the beautiful blue water! 5 stars! Cheers!"

"We have just returned from 13 nights at the Dara Samui. Had a really wonderful holiday, totally relaxed and restful. Overall we were pleased with the choice of hotel, particularly the location which is central in Chaweng, enabling us to walk either along the beach or the main road to dine in any restaurants or to enjoy a few drinks in the many excellent restaurants or bars nearby. The food was delicious - we indulged in loads of fresh seafood "Jumbo prawns" and lobster, barbequed on the beach at the Dara Serene, alternating with wonderful Thai food some evenings. We enjoyed the hotel food and ate at the hotel for about half the time we were there - the standard is excellent and the pricing very reasonable. It's also a lovely setting to enjoy a sundowner cocktail late afternoon either on the beach or at the pool. It's "Happy Hour" at 4-5pm. Koh Samui offers an incredible choice of truly excellent dining, and you don't need to travel far from the hotel if you don't wish to. There is lots of entertainment in the area nightly, so for those who like to get out in the evenings, there's lots of choice, from a single singer with a guitar to full bands (those at Tropical Murphys Irish Pub nightly are pretty good). Of course there are night clubs, sports bars etc. along with the Starz caberet show, thai boxing most evenings at the stadium etc etc. Alternatively a quiet, romantic meal on the beach is quite an experience, beautiful setting - they really set up the beach dining so well. There is fireworks and "balloons" (mini hot-air balloon style), which you can purchase on the beach in the evenings, and they float off into the sky like stars while you dine. We really enjoyed the evenings on the beach - it's a real contrast to the daytime! You can walk pretty much the length of Chaweng beach, though it's easy to get a taxi home anytime if you wish for about 200 Baht (you need to negotiate with the driver and you may even get it for 150 Baht. They'll say 300, but haggle!)"

"This was my 4th time in Samui, and 3rd time staying at Baan Samui. I actually changed to Baan Samui from Ark Bar after 4 of my 6 nights since I couldn't deal with all of the noise that permeates Ark Bar until 4am. I booked the room the morning of my arrival. When I arrived, my booking wasn't even in their system yet, but I just forwarded my Agoda email confirmation to the receptionist and she got me into the first available room without any issues. Baan Samui is very well located in Chaweng, being walking distance to everything, yet it still has a peaceful and relaxing environment. The room and bed are very comfortable, and the colorful facade and rooms adds to the charm of the place. The grounds are well maintained, and the beach area on which the hotel is situated is great. The hotel pool is very nice, also. The restaurant serves up good food, but it is a tad expensive. You're also paying for the great beach/sea view while you eat, I guess. The only complaint is that you have to pay for Internet/wifi. In all, I would stay here again!"

"Arrived late at night to the Chaweng garden resort from bangkok only a short tuck tuck ride away 10-15mins max. When we first pulled up outside the hotel the entrance down a beach like path was off the main road in the Chaweng area and we thought oh dear what have booked into but to our surprise and good one at that it led to a wonderful hotel with a combination of garden bungalows and garden view rooms we had the latter. Friendly concierge staff and bell boys very attentive always smiling and happy to help. We got into our room to find a spacious deluxe room with huge bed and lovely fresh smelling line sheets large shower and bathroom with all the amenities you need. Beach towels fresh everyday and re stocked fridge of bottled water was great. The breakfast was great a mixture of both traditional Thai and continental breakfast served from 6:30-10:30 was nice and fresh, and the beach which was fantastic and warm crystal waters was great. You could eat well at the hotel and on the beach also reasonably priced and very tasty. From the hotel you could either walk out onto the street and go to the bars and restaurants or onto the beach and walk along to a lively beach bar called ARK bar, which served food until 11pm and drinks til 1am laid on loungers with cushions and tables really nice way to end the evening if you didn't want all the hustle and bustle of the main bars and clubs. Great hotel and would stay here again. Very much recommend this hotel to someone else.y"

"just stayed at the chaweng regent in 2 spa villa rooms. we had booked 2 premier rooms but were pleasantly surprised when on reaching the hotel, we were informed that we had been upgraded. the rooms were large & very well maintained. the full sized bathroom had an excellent shower area & a jacuzzi that was open to the sky. breakfast at the chom talay restaurant was amongst the best i have ever had! huge spread with a great mix of continental & asian foods. although there are 2 pools - the garden pool & the beach pool, we only ended up using the latter. its beachfront location was superb & the water was always at a very comfortable temperature. the garden pool, with a sunken bar, was lovely as well. the beach in front of the hotel is great - clean white sand & clear water! the hotel grounds are lovely & beautifully maintained. dark wood boardwalks winding through lush greenery create a very calming effect. all house-keeping & room-service calls were attended to promptly & the staff were always smiling & cooperative. the airport pick-up & drop was also handled very well by the hotel. the shops, restaurants & massage parlours of chaweng are at the hotels doorstep, & in the 5 days we spent in samui, we were only able to try out a fraction of the restaurants in the vicinity. an excellent 7/11 is located diagonally opposite the hotel & is ideal for meeting one's daily provisional requirements.the only small niggle at the hotel was that the sliding bathroom doors of both our rooms were slightly misaligned & as a result it was difficult to lock them. despite mentioning this to reception a couple of times, it wasn't sorted. but it's quite understandable as the doors would probably have to be taken down & re-aligned & this would obviously be a time consuming affair. all in all though, a lovely experience!
