"Cliff Beach is a wonderful resort, it's honestly the best choice for Kai Bae Beach in comparison to others. Kai Bae is only about a mile and a half long and Cliff Beach offers the only accessible sandy beach with no rocks. I was looking into the Awa and White Knot, their beach is terrible, but they offer great views. Our room was great, we had poolside view and ocean view when on the balcony, access to wifi in the room, and breakfast was included and was pretty decent. The resort offers an array of ocean rental activities from boat rides, snorkeling, to kayaking. Cliff Beach does cater to the Russians, they pretty much over took the hotel, were nice and respectful, however word on the street is that Cliff Beach is the only hotel that will accept them. Unfortunately Koh Chang itself really caters to tourist, you won't get a lot of authentic Thai culture, however it is a beautiful place, great parks, waterfalls, and sandy beaches, if you choose the right hotel:) "

"We traveled as a family with two teenage children and spent two nights at Awa (We would have stayed longer if we had found it sooner!). The Hotel is situated in Kai Bae on the popular West Coast of Koh Chang and is split into two sections, on either side of the main road. The main resort is on the "beach" side with the Superior Hillside rooms across the road. We stayed in two Hillside rooms on the "wrong" side of the road and were happy with the rooms that had ample space, comfortable beds and large modern bathrooms, as well as all the other comforts that would be expected in a 4 star hotel. Being on the other side of the road did not bother us, particularly at the price we paid (1444 baht p/r/night) and there was a golf cart to take us to our room when we didn't feel like walking. The breakfast was good with a nice variety, catering to both Western and Asian tastes, we particularly enjoyed the bacon, that was always in plentiful supply. The resort beach is beautiful with white sand and no sand flies, which can be a problem on some of the other beaches. Swim in the sea at your own peril as there are a lot of sharp stones/coral and shoes should be worn to prevent injury. However, the pool is awesome and compensates nicely. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, although we would like to make mention of Mr. Bross at reception, who was particularly helpful and Mr. Abel Rodriguez who was a very attentive manager at the restaurant, he is most certainly a great asset to the resort. All in all, a top notch resort and well worth a visit! We also enjoyed the Kai Bae Beach area more than the popular White Sands Beach and walking through the village after sunset, sampling the local fruit, beer and massages was one of our highlights."

"The hotel is on two levels with the breakfast restaurant at the top of the hill with access via a cable car. Staff often available to transport guests in hotel buggy, which we thought was very helpful. New restaurant/bar on beach, but only open until 8pm. A taxi can be ordered from hotel reception to take to either Kai Bae village or Lonely Beach for about £1 per person. Can also flag down one of the numerous taxis from the top road. Beware, they only run until about 9.30pm, although you can return from Lonely Beach 'taxi rank' at any time but they will charge at least double the normal rate. You can walk along the beach to Kai Bae village (about 15 minutes to the centre). If the tide is in you can take an easy walk through Porn's Bungalows next door to reach wider part of beach. Fantastic restaurant on beach at Porn's bungalows with excellent food. We ate here often. The sea was warm, clean, and shallow. Absolutely wonderful. "

"The locality is ideal if after more peaceful place in attractive setting of hilly rainforest backing a quiet beach facing a calm ocean with small islands in view which provide a lovely outlook especially during sunset. The steep drive/walk uphill (the access road) and somewhat out of the way locality from towns cause some limitations re. getting around. Can walk along beach (with narrow and stony reaches) to Kai Bae town but taxi more suitable for returning at night. Windy narrow main road without pathways not suitable in places to walk north to Kai Bae or south to Lonely Beach. With such a nice setting of the resort these issues may not pose a major problem; as you can stay at and enjoy the resort beach and limited facilities. The hotel facilities, standards and service warrant three star and appear to be more in turn with Thai visitors than expectations of foreign tourists. A great place to stay and relax once you get past the little issues of occasional staff communication problems, lack of some basic facilities (e.g. hot water jug provided in room but no cups or tea/coffee packets, lack of room phone to order room service, no beach umbrellas, no bathroom sink plug, etc.). Meals varied and no consistency with how served. BBQ prawns accompanied with salad, corn, bread one day but another day a fancy BBQ fish with Thai herbs arrives without any side dishes despite being told it would. Can wait long time for a meal while large groups around you are being supplied feasts on nicely set tables. A little bit of friendly service like providing a salad to make up for the unsatisfactory situation is not attempted. Strange service is so up and down when there are many young trainees that one might think would be trained about the importance of these little details, e.g. like providing napkins, asking if you would like water, etc. Dishes and eating implements ran out during one of the breakfast mornings, another time no coffee, which tasted like mud anyway. "We loved staying at KB resort. The location was amazing - right on a lovely beach in Kai Bae around a range of restaurants and shops. The resort grounds were nice with trees, flowers, and lovely spaces to sit and look at the view. The Pool was lovely and big (although the water was quite warm). We could not fault the room - it was very clean and a good size. Reception staff were very kind and helpful, although the service from restaurant staff was poor. For the price we paid it was definitely worth it and we would highly recommend!"

"We had a wonderful stay at The Chill - 9 days in February. Everything was perfect! We stayed in room 215 - second floor, large balcony with view of pool, restaurant and the ocean. The hotels interior and exterior is well kept - clean and fresh! All staff is fantastic - friendly and caring. The breakfast is wonderful. The hotel has its ovn private, small beach with sunbeds. A little bit rocky in the water, but that was not a problem! The location in the middel of Kai Bae is perfect! We also loved Kai Bae. A nice small place with lots of good restaurants. Very nice atmosphere in Kai Bae! We would with no doubt choose The Chill next time!! "

"wer nach koh chang möchte und mit familie unterwegs ist, sollte auf jeden Fall zum Kai bae beach. es ist nicht so überlaufen, der strand ist sauber und schön flach. höhepunkt waren immer die baby elefanten :) das hotel ist gerade am aufrüsten, daher gibt s bis 2019 etwas baulärm, aber stört an sich überhaupt nicht, dafür sind die zimmer sehr neu und schön. wir hatten ale 4 zimmer arten und waren mit jeder zufrieden, beachfront ist toll, ob zimmer oder villa :D das rauschen des meeres genial. ausserhalb des hotels hat man auch alles was man braucht: frisches obst, frische säfte und jede menge essen zu super preisen. besser als in den anderen urlaubsgegenden. die staff gibt sich viel mühe. das frühstück ist ok, für jeden was dabei. die küche hatte mir auf anfrage auch extra eierreis gebraten ohne fleisch :)"

"we stayed at a coral resort in a nice bungalow. room-service every day (it was very clean!) and the staff spoke very good english and was very helpful and nice. we liked the breakfast (muesli, fruits, toast, butter, jam, rice, soup, spaghetti, sausages, ham, tea, coffee, juice, fresh scumbled/fried eggs) and enjoyed the view to the sea. coral resort is at kai bae. we are young, but we enjoyed that we weren´t at the bigger beaches lonely beach or white sand beach. it was quiet, but not in the middle of nowhere. there are several restaurants and bars just round the corner. we ate there every night, which was great, because we did not have to change the village for food! i think the pool isn't that great how people wrote here. one negative point: the wifi did not work very well they said it had to do with the mail-line, but other restaurants or bars had great connection..."
