Hotels near Nong Khai Railway Station

I stay at this hotel, whenever traveling to Laos for a day. (I park in Nong Khai, stay in Nong Khai, taxi to and in Laos.) My room was close to the elevator, second room from the elevator. THE ELEVATOR AREA TALKING AND THE PEOPLE NEXT TO ME WERE NOISY!!!!! For the first time, I learned how poorly insulated the walls and the door are. Another issue: It took four tries to get my key to work. Batteries on the door needed to be replaced. Keys had to be replaced. Otherwise, the hot water in the morning and after a long day is great and plentiful. The location is great. Easy to get something to eat at the Tesco complex. 7-11 is close to get snacks for the room. I would still come back, but ask for a room away from the elevator.

We were greeted by a friendly young receptionist. Staff very helpful. Hotel is comfortable and great value for money. Rooms were clean and all staff cheerful and helpful. There are many restaurants nearby and walked only 2 MINS to the Mekong River. Besides, the famous Vietnamese Food and local foods are very delicious. We were there on Saturday and enjoyed the walking street by the river too. In the morning, we walked to the Indochina Market (very close) and had pizza (Italian Made) around there. We stayed only 2 nights before traveling to Laos. Nong Khai is a lovely little town. I will definitely stay there again.

Took an overnight bus from BKK, Mochit to Nong Khai & arrived early @ 6 am. Though they were full, they checked us in when the first room was available @ 9 am. How nice of them. The room was spacious but the bed was a little hard but comfortable. The overall room lighting was dim especially the toilet when could be improve on. THe breakfast was a delight. As for location, it depends. It's within walking distance to the Railway Station & Bus Terminal to Vientianne. A few eating outlets nearby, the best enroute from hotel towards the Railway Station. It's overlooking a small river & you are seated on the floor. Serve only lunch. Accomodation in town about 3 km away from H Nakhara, would be nearer the Main Bus Terminal in Nong Khai & offers a much more variety of food.

The hotel is very well maintained, room and all general area like the garden, lobby, the giant Koi fish pond are all very clean. I love the Koi fish pond and the garden, very relaxing. The rooftop bar offers a great view of sunset over Mae Khong River, which the river is just across the street opposite the hotel. The breakfast is note bad with good enough variety from local dishes to international. Plenty of parking space. I would come back and stay here again for my next visit in Nong Khai city.

I will start with the only con and thats the wifi its not so great especially if you need it for business apart from this the hotel is great i live in nong khai and had to use this hotel ive used many hotels in nong khai and this is by far the best. The breakfast is a thai breakfast but as long as it fills your belly thats fine with me, the rooms are immaculate the tv is all in thai but who books a room to watch tv all day when there is a beautiful garden and pool to relax by. The food in the restaurant is also very nice with western food and thai food. I must mention that the 2 ladies that do the breakfast food are very pleasant amd always smiling its a hard job working in the kitchen i know as i am a chef so big credit to those women especially working in that heat.

I really liked the Tanzeno hotel. While Nong Khai is not a large Thailand City, the hotel is minutes off the main highway to Vientiane. The rooms were modern, clean and well-furnished; the hotel was good value for money. The staff was pleasant and helpful. My stay was highlighted by an unfortunate incident – my fault entirely. The room had a safe and as I usually do when I stay in a hotel, I put my key documents in the hotel safe. Well for the first time in my life I did not empty the safe before I vacated the room and left my passport, credit cards, a fairly large amount of cash and other key documents in the hotel safe and drove to my home some 700 km South of Nong Khai. I did not realize until I got a phone call from the lady in my city who owns a taxi service to tell me some 2 days after I arrived home that she had been contacted by the Tanzeno hotel to inform me that I had left my passport and other items in the hotel safe. I have no idea how the hotel got her phone number. When I realized what I had done, I called to hotel and spoke to Ms. Doe, one of the hotel managers and she told me what had happened. She asked me how she can get the documents back to me, I gave her my address and she sent the items back to me by Thailand Post. This morning I received the package with all my documents, cash, credit cards etc. What a relief! So this note is a thank you to the staff at the Hotel Tanzeno for their honesty and their extensive efforts to return these documents to me and also to the Thailand Postal Service. If you look on the Thailand blogs, you will see the Thailand Postal service gets bad reviews. It took 2 working days for the package to get to me and their on line tracking system was very good giving me updates of where the package was. So if you ever have a need to stay in Nong Khai, I highly recommend the Tanzeno Hotel. You will not be disappointed!

Big room, plenty of space. Bed is large and comfortable. Good bathroom. Bring your own toilet paper as it is not supplied. If you ask you will get it (grudgingly) but will be advised you should use the bum gun. The 'breakfast' is coffee and biscuits in the lobby - but you won't be told about it. It is on the table near the door to the carpark (under the TV). We recommend Macky's for breakfast (near the river) & MAI'S RESTAURANT across the road from the hotel for dinner. The food is great and the prices good at both (also both have free wifi). The only problem we had in getting to the hotel was the driver wanting to take us elsewhere. Be sure to specify it is the Nong Khai CITY Hotel, not the Nong Khai SIRI Guesthouse. The Friendship Bridge is not worth the trouble and expense of getting unless you are crossing to Laos. It is nothing special as a tourist thing. Sala Keoku is worth the trip, it is about 15-20 minutes tuk-tuk ride from the riverside market. You are looking at 60-90 minutes to check the place out. The driver should wait if you pay about 200b for the return trip. This is one of the very few places I have found that does not have dual pricing. 20B for adults (July 2016) regardless of nationality. 200b security deposit. We would use this hotel again.

I thought and had heard that it is too far from the main centre and the river. The hotel has a tuk tuk service 24 hours a day which brought everything closer. I had a family bungalow because I liked the space and I was not disappointed in anyway. I recommend the Rice Porridge for breakfast. English can be difficult for the staff however just asked for Mr Nong and he will see too your needs although I suspect they will be minimal and possibly only pertain to the tuk tuk.

wonderful little hotel a little bit outside of the centre of nong khai. quiet and peaceful. very stylish house and garden, built to the visions of the owner of the house. the owner and staff do anything to make the visitor feel as being a part of the family. the owner speaks english very well, due to a long stay overseas. the food that this hotel serves is also a1 ! you´ll get specialties from thailand in common, the isaan in special, from laos, from vietnam...... as well for breakfast as for dinner. high quality. when you like loud music, many bars in the vicinity and nightlife as you know it from phuket, pataya of bangkok, this is definitely not the hotel of choice for you. when you like the view on the gentle flowing mighty river mekong, when you like it being treated as a good friend of the family, when you like it being, when you like it quiet, watching catfishes in the water oder precious plants growing on trees - then this house should be your first choice when staying in nong khai. i give this house 5 stars.

the hotel is very new,when i got of plane at udon thani mini bus drivers had never heard of it he then took me in to town and droped me at the wrong hotel and drove of i then had to pay a tuktuk driver to take me to modern inn but he didnot know where it was.the hotel is listed as being in nong khai city centre it is not u have to get a tuktuk into town,they need to tell bus drivers/taxi/tuktuk drivers where the hotel is ,my stay was fine room very clean staff very limited english

My first impression upon arriving at the hotel was that it seemed abandoned. My second impression was that reminded me of my first car - a Buick Regal. It was a luxury car but came at an inexpensive price due to age taking it's toll so that it was no longer a luxury experience. At some point, a luxury hotel decides whether it will try to maintain high standards, or if it will give up. Feels like this one gave up. So, the positive side is that the price is low, and if you keep your expectations low you won't be disappointed. If "feeling" or aesthetics (or stains) are not important to you then this hotel is fine. The staff I interacted with were friendly and helpful.

Nong Khai doesn't get a great deal of tourist traffic, its chief claim to fame being that it's one end of the Friendship Bridge connecting Thailand and Laos. That said, one could easily while away a couple of pleasant days in this sleepy riverside town, where excellent food, great massages and plenty of greenery are all readily available. Should you choose to do so, the Royal Mekong Nong Khai Hotel can provide an intriguing experience to be sure. Nearly empty during my late September stay (as it apparently is most of the time), the hotel offered perhaps the largest room I've ever stayed in, complete with a fine view of the Mekong River and Laos just across it, a huge swimming pool, plenty of places to sit and relax and a truly satisfying American-style breakfast. I am told that the Royal Mekong is up for sale, alas, which isn't surprising considering how few guests it seems to attract; those of you heading for Nong Khai are advised to pay it a visit while you still can.
