"I first visited the Ark Bar for the day while staying at another 5 star hotel. I liked the hotel so much I actually left my other hotel (prepaid) and booked a room at the Ark Bar. The restaurant has a wide selection of food and is priced cheap and it taste GREAT! The hotel has an amazing pool and beach with a DJ playing along with Saxophone and Drums on some nights. there is tons of people and the drinks are flowing. Its a great atmosphere. If you are old and don't care for crowds and loud music, then DONT STAY HERE! There is loud music playing until 2AM every day and people walking up and down the property to come and go to the beach parties. The sound system easily pierces through the windows of your room. I don't mind the music and I love the atmosphere, so for me it was fine. The hotel room is a 3 star hotel. The bed is comfortable, and they are VERY STINGY with sheets and TOWELS! If you expect to get an extra towel, FORGET IT! I was at the pool whern I was eating and there was a spot flood shower. After I finished eating I brought my wet towel to them to change and they told me "Sorry Sir it's one towel per guest per day". I couldn't believe my ears. I was a guest at the hotel and they won't even change my towel?? It upset me actually and I wanted to post it here. Also for some reason the WIFI is guarded like Ft knox. They change the passwords every day and getting it from the staff on the phone is impossible as their English is not the greatest. Each time I called, I was forced to walk all the way to the front desk to get the new passwords. They need to ease up with the WIFI and perhaps just use your room number and last name, that is what most hotels do. Its just WIFI! Back to my review. I ate dinner on the beach and it was amazing. The BBQ Fish was awesome and drinks by the beach watching the fire show was PERFECTION. So this hotel has great benefits and I guess they out weight the few stupid drawbacks."

"I am glad i chose Cosi for a few first nights in Samui. The location is a dream right next to big shopping Mall and main street where you just step out to the left and everything are there:foods/bars/shops/massages/entertainment...you name it.. Also Cosi is not too far from the tourist spots like Big Buddha Temple/Wat Plai Laem/the Jungle Club.. Overall Pro: location/very nice staffs/price are totally affordable/nice clean room.. Con: I stayed on floor 1 (downstairs from the reception) and i can hear the live music from the night market quite clear, like you have a neighbor singing karaoke upstairs till midnight. So if you are not a person with noise please ask for room on top or so. Also my bathroom have a bit of sewer smell came out once a while even though its very new and clean. There are no telephone in the room so if you need anything you can’t just call from your room. But overall I highly recommend Cosi for your first Samui trip if you like to be at the center of everything with affordable pricing and a cosi clean room (sewer smell need to go) and very Nice Staffs. Thanks Cosi. "

"this hotel is existing for more then 10-15 year, and has a good location on Kao Hua Jook hillside facing Chewang Lake not far to Soi Mango but considering distance to the beach seems to be quite far to walk there everyday so bike or car rental is good idea. I think hotel's owner needs to invest some money for rooms renovation as interior looks old and musty. Nice and helpful staff. we had reservation for one night by agoda and when decided to stay two more days they charged us the same rate instead of regular. "

"Myself and a friend stayed here for 4 nights, and we would've stayed longer if we could. Al's resort is a lovely hotel made up of lots of modern bungalow/Villa rooms and has two pools, one of which looks right out to the sea with its infinity feature. The location was ideal for us as we liked having the pool and the beach to alternate between. There were plenty of loungers by the beach, we never had to bathe on the sand, although the pool was usually busy. I'm not sure the hotel could fit many more loungers in by the infinity pool but if they could it would be a bonus! We ate only beach snacks from the hotel such as satay, spring rolls and chips but they were all delicious and the drinks were reasonably priced. The stretch of beach where the hotel is on, is lovely white sand and not too busy. Obviously we went in low season though (July) so it could be busier at peak times. The location is brilliant in terms of restaurants and bars too. Just a short stroll along the beach and you can dine in any of the neighbouring hotel beachside restaurants if you fancied a change from Al's. walking through the hotel to the road side, there were numerous restaurants all lining the streets prividing plenty of choice. For a meal and one drink you are looking to pay about 150 baht (Thai food) to around 300 baht (western). This is cheap compared to Bangkok. There are some very local Thai restaurants selling street type food for 30-40 baht too if you hunt them out. Usually they are the ones with a huge line of travellers outside queuing to get in! :) The room was lovely - deluxe courtyard- the bathroom was great and the air con worked very well. There are beach towels available from the beach bar too. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Chaweng beach and if I return to Samui, I will definitely stay here again. "
