Lamai hotels & places to stay

this place was heaven - my best stay ever. we had booked at ocean view balcony. when we got there, they offered us a pool villa!! we didn't even ask, and there was no extra charge. the pool villa was so enchanting, with the mosquito nets around the bed. great bathrooms too. oh and their shampoo and conditioner is great too - works better than what i have at home and i bought it to take back with me. the spa looked very nice but we weren't able to get a booking on the same day. staff were very friendly and helpful. breakfast was divine - with champagne and made to order items like pancakes and eggs included. only downside was the beach - water was too rough to enjoy. perhaps it was just the season. another downside is that i left my bathing suit in the shower and they weren't able to find it, so it was probably stolen. the shuttles to lamai beach worked perfectly well for us, and it was a nice walk back in the evening. we enjoyed the beach at lamai, although it's definitely not one of the most beautiful beaches you've ever seen - sand is a bit rocky. but our stay was bliss, thanks to the pool villa. this is a great hideaway. highly highly recommend.

Don’t let the road down to the resort fool you. Because once you arrive, you are greeted by a wonderful staff, who is always polite, welcoming and helpful. The resort itself is very clean and modern. Family deluxe room has plenty of space. I wish there was a gym, though. The restaurant has a great view of the beach. Breakfast is tasty, but lacks variety. Dinner is great. The location itself is close to several sightseeing places, but too far to walk to go to Lamai center (at least with kids). However, the hotel provides transport (for 200 THB or free shuttle at 13:00 with return at 16). The beach is clean, but there are too much rocks around the shore. Everyone of us got cuts from them. All in all, I would recommend this resort for anyone who wants to stay in Lamai.

We arrived at about 2pm at Banyan Tree Samui and was immediately attended to by my Villa Host, Mr. Thep. As our rooms were not ready, we were ushered to the Lobby Lounge to wait. As we were ahead of check-in timing, we could only have the villa ready by 230pm. Our host introduced us to the resort and the dining options. Perhaps it was raining, hence he did not bring us around. He was also attentive to our needs from start till the end of our stay. Service was warm, yet not overwhelming. Unfortunately the Ocean Pool Villa had only a glimpse of the ocean. As we understood, Banyan Tree group is active in conservancy of nature and hence trees were not cut down just to give any villa a good view. We decided to pay for a room upgrade to the Sanctuary Pool Villa. The view is breathtaking (180 degree unblocked view over Lamai Bay), the best among all the resorts I have stayed in. Our host also arranged for some decoration, flower bath, a cake and wine to celebrate the wedding anniversary for me and my wife. Amenities in the room and in the resort was also excellent. Sufficient activities provided for me to stay in for the 3 nights I was there. I felt that food at the resort can improve. Apart from the Samui Fine Dining menu I had at Saffron restaurant, all other meals were just average.

You cannot usually find a resort with definitely 3-star room rate but with 5-star facilities, services and exceptional accomdation experience. This resort is located a bit far away from Lamai but it was Ok for peaceful family journey. You can easily catch taxi, tutu beside the road in front of the hotel with a fair fare to downtown area. The beach is really wide and clean and the swimming pool was put with the ocean sightviews. Our room was clean in Thai style, also a small yard will be a plus when you hoped to catch up outside in rainy hours. Absolutely I shall take a revisit if came back to Samui for holidays.

the THB was a great option for the money in Lamai. the hotel far exeeds others in its price range. Although the rooms are a little dated, they are all in great shape and are very large. Most rooms do not have excellent beach views, although few hotels in Lamai beach have them. The hotel makes up for it with great service, secure lockboxes, excellent wifi all over, and the best breakfast buffet on Lamai beach. The breakfast options are clearly the result of a good chef and planning. This is a great hotel for the money of you decide to stay in Lamai.

I have traveled extensively to Thailand but this was my first trip to Samui so I wasn't sure whether to stay in Lamai or Chaweng. Based on Agoda reviews I picked Lamai and I am so glad I did! Chaweng has a slightly nicer beach but aside from that, Lamai is the place to be if you are looking for a beautiful, peaceful stay but still crave a little night life. Lamai Wanta is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed at in Thailand. If you want stunning sunsets that you can view right from the pool or adjacent beach this is the spot. I chose a Superior Room which for me, my wife and daughter was perfect. The rooms are simple so if you are looking for coffee makers, hot water dispensers, in-room telephones, etc... then do not stay here. On the flip side, the rooms are simple yet clean, the moring breakfast is made to order and the chefs are EXCELLENT! You have your choice of meals up to 195 baht which is more than enough to fill you up and you don't have to wait in line for the left-over buffet-type meals that are usually sub-standard at most hotels. Also, and this is a big bonus, the morning breakfast runs from 7am to noon! Yeah, noon is perfect for those nights you stayed out too late and want to sleep in. Just get up before noon and enjoy brunch! Lamai Wanta is a good place to stay for both families and singles alike. There are the usual girl bars but they are not overwhelming like Pattaya or Bangla Road in Patong. 7-11 and Family Mart are a block away. Local Thai food, massage, motorbike rentals are all in walking distance. What more can I say? This hotel is a winner given the location, accomodations and reasonable prices!!! I will definitely book here again and again!!!

After did for so many filtered of hotel, thanks god, this is the best selection of hotel. We enjoyed big pool and beach front hotel room. But the hotel is a bit inside from main road, you will need to walk out like 5-6 mins to access to main road. Therefore we rented a bike with hotel so that we able to drove to far to explored others areas than Lamai beach. We would like to suggested Lamai View Point. Must check it out if you happen to come Lamai. The massage service Infront of our hotel is superb, we had try massage and scrub. It is Just a few steps walked from hotel room to the beach & massage place. We really enjoyed our stay in this hotel. You can also rent water sport -like jetski with nearby company. We felt It is cheaper compare to Chaweng Beach. But for the environment surrounding we felt it will a little more quiet compare to Chaweng Beach. Definitely will stay this hotel again!

We had a 2,5 week honeymoon roundtrip in Thailand. This hotel was definately the best of all. First when we arrived, the owner (a nice dutch guy) gave us complimentary room upgrade. Our room was big, and very clean and nice. The staff did everything to make our mood the best. They were also proactive. The hotel has a nice bay with clear water (6 hotels share this nice bay, so it's not crowded). Both Chawend and Lamai are close (Lamai is walking distance). The breakfast was awesome on the pool side. There is a cheap loundry service, travel agent, and good restaurant within 4 minutes walking. We ate there every night.

Nothing except praise. Everything was awesome and excellent. Eventhough the location is far frm main tourist spot in which car or bike renting is necessary, its is still one of the best hotel in lamai samui. Good place for couple or honeymooners to relax and chill in spending lovely time together. This amazing hotel is definitely recommended to anyone who travel to samui.

I stayed at the Am Samui Palace for 2 nights - it's a really nice hotel in Lamai beach. It's a slightly quieter area of Koh Samui. About 30 mins from Chaweng but personally I didn't like Chaweng so that was fine! The room was really nice and big, the bed was comfy, the breakfast was great (one of the best I've had in Thailand, the pool was a great size, lots of loungers etc. The best thing about this hotel was the friendliness of the staff - the morning front desk staff in particular were great. So friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again.

I have been to Samui numerous times since 1994 & Kala's location between Lamai & Chaweng had always been my favourite area of the island, simply due to the higher landscape offering breathtaking view over the Gulf and Chaweng. Kala was thus a fine surprise --- from the moment you enter the hotel to the reception lobby, the restaurant to the rooms, and the bar to the pools, the view alone is worth the stay. It's a stone throw away from the bustling Chaweng and Lamai, yet Kala is well tucked away for those who wants total serenity and privacy. Architecturally the hotel is interestingly laid out being separated into 5 levels on the cliff. Although the hotel doesn't have a beach, but the detailing of the wooden sea front deck around the rocks illustrated how thoughtful the builder had been. Take lots of pictures, as you will be surprise how artistic they'll turn out. Definitely 5 star environment at an affordable price.

We stayed at Langham Place for the last two nights of our holiday and can highly recommend it. The staff go out of their way to ensure your stay is as pleasant as possible from offering cooling towels or a refreshing fruit kebab by the poolside to their ceremonial fire ballon release in the evening with a free cocktail thrown in.The pool area is very comfortable including giant lilo's which you dont want to leave. There is a small beach in front of the hotel but its not the best in Samui. There is a shuttle bus in to Chewang or Lamai each night. Personally we prefer Chewang as there seems to be better restaurants( plus we spent 7 nights there in jan so probably know it better)

We stayed as a group of three in the Jasmine Villa. We had two king size beds on two floors, a large bathroom and a big balcony with a stunning view on the island and ocean. The hotel consists of a few villas that are placed over the hill. I really liked the facilities. Everything is done with love for detail. The staff is very friendly and always assists, if you need help with anything. We booked our ferry and a scooter via the reception with no additional costs. The Villas are located between Chaweng and Lamai Beach on top of a hill. It is very exhausting to walk up the hill, but there is always a shuttle that will pick you up at any time from the bottom of the hill at the main road. Also there is a free shuttle to either Chaweng or Lamai Beach at certain times during the day. And the cars will bring you to the close-by beaches at any time during day. The only negative aspect about our stay was the breakfast. It was a very small buffet, that leaked of any variety.

We've been guests of this hotel for several times, and always prefered to choose it because of its extremelt conviniet location: in very quiet and beautiful place in Lamai. Seems to us, that this hotel fits for families with babies as much as bossible, because there is nice and large enough pool nearby, very close to the seacoast and no roads with high traffic nearby. So, everyone - even the jungest visitor can feel safe. The rooms are big and clean, the stuff is always ready to help. One of the useful features of the hotel is the gym. We also strongly reccomend this hotel for the best balance of cost and quality. To my mind, this hotel has possibly the best potential for the familes with children. I would be glad, if the owners would develop and position this hotel preliminary for them. Because there is great lack for that type of hotels in Lamai, especcialy with such a greate cost/quality value.

before booking a place i visited one by one all the resorts in Lamai Beach and Marina Villa was the best one for what i was looking for. If you need a place in a calm area (not too close to noisy pubs), two steps from the beach, clean and walking distance from everything without spending lot of money then this is the place you are looking for. i got a ground floor room, 20 meters from the pool and 40 from the sea, perfectly clean and with all i needed, bath amenities, fridge, television, wifi (8-10mb), water kettle with coffee, 2 bottles of water every day, safe box, plus the free access to the 2 swimming pools and sun beds on the beach. All this for 40euro per day for 2 people. it's possible also to rent a bike for 150baht per day, cheaper than all other places (but you need to show the driver licence). Lamai is the best place in Samui and this part of the beach is absolutely my fav one. i recommend to my friends to stay here and i'll stay here again next time too.

We ordered 2 Deluxe Thai Villa in advance of 6 months with a good price.We arranged 5 persons in each villa. It is big enough for Maxium 6 persons to live in. It is very convenient for the family that there is a kitchen inside.The resort location is a little bit far from Lamai Town,but it is very quiet for relaxing. The hotel beach is very clean and lovely. The taste of the breakfast is so good although there are not so many choices. You could enjoy the breakfast buffet + order some dishes. Hotel provided the shuttle bus to Lamai and Chaweng so that we could enjoy the shopping there easily. The resort employees are so freindly and helpful. Not far away from the resort you could find two good Thai Food Restaurants.We spent 4 fantastic days in Rocky's. If possible, we would choose it for next time.

My wife and I did a lot of research about Samui, including all of the different areas and the different hotels. We chose Lamai Beach because we thought it would be quieter than Chaweng up north and we were VERY pleased. Samui Jasmine is an ideal place to stay for a multitude of reasons: Pros: - The staff. They are friendly, outgoing, and very professional. The housekeepers are like ninjas! We would step out to have a quick breakfast (maybe 20-30 minutes) and the room was completely made up by the time we returned. - Location: truly AMAZING. I worried that Lamai would be a bit *too* quiet, but it was ideal from our perspective and Samui Jasmine is in the absolutely best location for beach access and for local shopping and strolling. We were here in the VERY low season of late June and every other hotel seemed completely dead. Samui Jasmine always had customers without feeling overwhelming and obnoxious.

Good privacy with a private pool. (1.3m) Be careful if you can't swim. It's quite deep! Comes with a huge round bathtub that faces the sea. SUnrise view. Very romantic. There are 2 different pools within the hotel compound. Both have different views. MUST TRY BOTH! Good for Instagram/ Facebook pics. Also relax at the Star bar. Star gazing with a nice cold cocktail is great romantic stuff!

2nd time staying at this hotel, have stayed at other hotels in Lamai but we think this is the best hotel in Lamai.. wouldn't stay anywhere else now. The rooms are excellent, very clean, modern rooms, great bathroom and shower. The housekeeping staff do a very good job, each day our toiletries, coffee, tea, sugar and 2 bottles of free water are replaced, Very good value for money. 3 mins to Tesco and Central Lamai. Can walk to beach in 5mins. No noise from other guests. Just amazing-There are no negative things to say!

I arrived mid afternoon and they were waiting for me. After a hassle free check in by a very friendly lady I was taken to my Villa. My first impression was how nicely it was hidden by foliage and secondly how big it was. It was a lovely room, huge bed, TV etc. On waking in the morning before breakfast service had started I was disappointed that there were no Tea/Coffee making facilities as to be able to sit on the large patio with a cup of coffee first thing in the morning would have been great. It took a couple of days to get used to the open air bathroom, it was just the bath area exposed, but after this I was fine. The pool area was bigger than I was expecting from the photos. It was clean, clear and on the beach with good views. It was very relaxing and peaceful. I only had breakfasts at the hotel but these were good. Especially the plate of fruit served and the coffee. This hotel is good for people wanting a peaceful break. It is a 20 minute walk into the centre of Lamai, or if you don't want to do that there are plenty of bars and eateries along the road 5 or 10 minutes away. If you don't fancy using the road it is just as quick and easy walking along the beach and nicer. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the The Grand Manita. It is a hidden jewel on Lamai beach.

This is truly a boutique resort with only 20 or so rooms. Resort is well maintained and the grounds amd pool are lovely. We stayed in a Jacuzzi suite overlooking the beach and at just under £100 per night it offered so much for the money. Breakfast at the hotel is pretty good and offers most of what you'd expect. It is a buffet but tea and coffee and eggs, bacon etc are ordered and served to you at the table, the coffee is excellent. There are plenty of staff and they provide good service, the hotel even provides it's own taxi service, which was usually cheaper than what resort taxis wanted to charge. The hotel is situated on a very quiet beach at the start of Hua Thanon bay which is south of Lamai bay. The only downside with the beach is the sea bed is quite rocky and so for swimming etc not as pleasant as say the main Lamai beach. However it only takes 10 to 15 minutes to walk to Lamai beach or you can swim in the resort pool.

marina beach resort is situated at the beach of lamai, there is a path between the bungalows to the beach with a small bar an free chairs. its a very nice and long beach there, unfortunately there was no clear water. the rooms are ok, i used also the standard room before,and i would prefere that one, altough it is cheaper. there are lots of restaurants in the surrounding, but no food in the hotel. they have friendly staff.

The hotel is located on a viewing point on a hill overlooking Chaweng Beach. It's between Beach Lamai and Chaweng, so not really within walking distance to the crowds, which made it a quiet place. The owner Pakon was a super nice guy; always on call for any needs or questions from us. And he offered free rides downhill and up for our conenience. We got a beach view villa, breakfast was served in room, brought to the balcony. It was the best start of a day eating breakfast while viewing the ocean. We rented a car for 1200 Baht a day and it was quite easy to get around. In all a great stay.

Lamai Inn 99 is a great place to stay if you are on a budget but still want some home comforts like tv air con hot running water swimming pool etc. when booking it was amongst the cheapest places to stay in Lamai on agoda but what you get for the money probably beats a lot of places charging more in the same price range. dont get me wrong this is a budget place but it is smart and clean, the room we had which was in front of the main building was spacious and new looking and you cant beat the location - the beach on one side and the centre of Lamai shopping and nightlife on the other....recommended!
