bungalows are very bright, as it has huge glass panels which can be covered with curtains for privacy. Spacious, clean, very nicely designed. The bed is comfortable, clean and crisp linen. There is nothing much near the resort, but one can take a taxi to the Nathon Pier or Cheweng for shopping or just to sample other restaurants. The restaurant at the resort seems to cater for westerners taste though, didn't quite taste like authentic Thai.... but the restaurant and lounge area near the pool is nice and has a relaxing ambiance to it. The beach is not too wide, but somewhat private. There is no spa at the resort, but masseurs can be called in by the hotel... alternatively, there's a small spa about 10 mins walk from the resort. There are mountain bikes available complimentary of the resort.

I am very satisfied with this hotel , I ve been to Samui many times , usually it was Chaweng or Lamai area , but it is my first time on Lipa Noi , and I really feel myself relaxed ! After many 4 and 5 star hotels that I have visited on Samui Island I can definitely say that this hotel is full of surprises and bonuses that are included in adequate price . Let me tell you what I mean , bonuses started after check in procedure – we were updated to second row villa with our own pool for free ! Room and bed was very clean ,furniture looks new and there was a great surprise for us – our own patio with table and chairs to rest outside next to our Jacuzzi pool . Staff was extremely friendly and helpful , especially I would like to mark restaurant staff - very attentive and pleasant waiters . I was traveling with my girlfriend , so we asked one of manages to organize something special or us – we had wonderful dinner on the beach that evening , there was live saxophone show that few days – so we had luck to enjoy great performance ! Food here is extremely tasty , I like fish and only fresh, seafood that was served in this restaurant was very fresh . In the evening there was a wooden boat with seafood in it , we have asked for grilled prawns & snapper BBQ – it was fantastic ! We are planning to come again next year I will definitely advise this place to my friends , see you soon Sea Valley !

We stayed here on our first night arriving in Samui via Raja Ferry/Donsak Pier. Its only a 10mins away. Other than the surrounding resorts, theres very little in this area. Scooter rental is essential. Taxis in/out to Nathon weren't in our budget. Theres a 7-11 a few mins away on scooter, walking distance 20mins. Hotel has a beautiful view over a great infinity pool - not huge but perfect for relaxing in. Included breakfast was very good. Made to order from a selection, not buffet. Rooms spotless. We had a sea view, stunning. Staff very friendly. Be warned: laundry costs are extortionate! Get it done elsewhere. Small, quiet, private beach in front of pool. Very clean & great for long peaceful walks. Night Market right outside hotel every Thur night. Small but lots of local offerings. Also a pop-up cocktail bar on beach on Thur night. Definitely good for a stay on first/last night, as so handy to the pier. Wouldn't stay here much more than two days. Too quiet.

my husband and i stayed at viva vacation resort for 3 nights over the recent new year's holidays (2011-2012). we cannot say enough good things about this beautiful, little resort and its owner kris and his family. from the very moment you arrive you feel like you are home. the staff is so friendly, it is unbelievable! the resort has only 11 spacious, nicely decorated villas where you have plenty of room to lounge also during a rainy day. the grounds are finely manicured, the pool is huge and the restaurant is 5 stars. the resort is located on a quiet beach on the west coast of koh samui, just 5 km south of nathon pier. if you want to discover the island, you will need your own wheels. we rented a scooter in nathon upon our arrival but you can also rent one from kris at the same price we paid in town. we attended the new year's eve party and, although there were 11 guests, it was a delightful night. we were greeted with a flower lei and a young coconut drink; they had organized a thai dance show, a superb buffet with amazing food, gifts draw, flooding lanterns and fireworks at midnight! we are definitely going back if we travel to thailand in the future.

Overall, the price is great if you want to be relatively close to Nathon pier. However, if you choose the shared room/bunk bed option that's closest to the road side, and if you're not a deep sleeper, you will have a hard time with the noise of the motorcycles and vehicles at all hours of the night. Also, it's pretty open air, so if you don't have an enclosed room, get ready to get feasted upon by mosquitoes. Nice pool, and it's got access to a very nice beach

The hotel is situated in a quiet location between the sea and the road with low traffic. In normal room (not a bungalow) has everything you need. Very friendly hotel owners. There is a free shuttle service to the nearest pier. The pool is not huge, but very good. Breakfast is not much variety, but tasty (especially the pancakes), not tired for a week! I note only that in the sea near the hotel usually parked fishing small boats and there are low tides (August). To swim better to go a little bit along the beach. The place is very solitary, to the nearest shop (7/11) about a kilometer (but you can take a bicycles free of charge), the hotel has its own rental car and motorbike with good prices.

The hotel is located near to Nathon Pier, it was about 15 minutes walk from hotel to the pier. The hotel is a bit run down, the hinge of bathroom door in our room was broken and we couldn't close the door fully. Although the hotel has private beach but it was a bit dirty, it might due to the pier nearby. Thus, we just swam at the swimming pool. The hotel staffs were friendly and helpful. They provided many helps to us during our stay at the hotel, especially the assistance in communicated with local agents. There are many shops and restaurant nearby, grocery stores, Thai-massage, souvenir shops, restaurants, pubs etc. If you are vegetarian, there are two vege-friendly restaurants, Lucky Restaurant and Art & Craft Cafe. Art & Craft Cafe is well decorated; it open until 5pm daily. For Lucky restaurant, it had a great sunset view and we had 3 sunset dinners at the restaurant. When you order vegetarian meals, remember to inform the restaurant staff if you don't take onion and garlic. Anyway, if you are looking for a budget hotel with convenient location and away from the crowd, that's the good choice.

We stayed at the Lipa Lovely for two weeks with out three children. The location was perfect for us as the hotel is on the quiet unspoilt west side of koh Samui. Great if you want tptal relaxation and peace, not great if you want night-life and shopping. The beach in our opinion is the best on Samui, we visited many. The sand is white and powdery, the beach is very clean, there are no rocks or seaweed. The water is clear and there is no current. The beach is perfect for children as you have to walk into the seas for a long way before it gets deep so it's excellent for children. Our room was a family suite, 2 bed rooms, 2 en suite bathrooms and an interconnecting sitting room. The rooms where basic and clean, daily housekeeping is excellent and the resort provides outstanding value for money. The grounds are well maintained, the staff could not have been better,friendly and welcoming, great with our kids, they could not do enough for us. The food is reasonably priced and excellent. The breakfast is great, we have stayed in many resorts in Thailand and the Lipa Lovely did the best breakfast of them all. The pool is small and unless you use the steps to get in and out it can graze your legs as the sides are sharp in places. The location is in a very quiet area on the west coast, stunning sunsets are guaranteed! There are a couple of little shops and simple but good restaurants opposite the resort but that's all there is. Nathon is a 10 minute drive away, 25 minutes to Bhoput and 35 mins to Chaweng. We had a fantastic stay at the Lipa lovely and would recommend to anyone wanting a quiet relaxing break

Cool design made of shipping containers, very quiet area on the south west side of Samui between Nathon and Lipa Noi piers. There is nothing of note within walking distance, so a moto is a must (rental available at the hotel). Food is good, real coffee is a HUGE PLUS, owners are very nice. Rooms are nice, although we had a little leak in the roof during a heavy downpour. If you want to get out of the Samui insanity, this is a good option. Has the feel of a funky coffee shop on the beach. Nathon is the closest town (10 min moto ride), which has a great night food market and a few trinket shops, but otherwise is a standard port town that closes early. Now that Chaweng is out of control, check out this area for some quiet time.

The Kanok Buri is located in the much, much quieter part of Koh Samui, on Lipa Noi beach. It's about a 15 mins taxi ride south of Nathon Pier & perhaps only 5 mins north of the Raja Ferry Pier. There are some restaurants nearby & around the Nathon Pier area, but it is largely pretty quiet & isolated, which is great if you're looking for a private family getaway or an intimate getaway for two. The private pool villa we were given was amazingly clean & spacious. The bathroom was pretty huge! Privacy was adequate, although slightly compromised if you have tall neighbours. The breakfast buffet was simple but tasty. (Definitely not a pork-free restaurant, though.) Scooters can be arranged for rent at 250B/24-hours. We rented one over the duration of our trip to visit Chaweng & Lamai beaches as well as to visit other parts of the island, and while the scooter was cheap & handy perhaps hiring a car might've been more comfortable as Koh Samui is a pretty large island to cover.

The hotel is located in the old town area of Samui island because there are many old buildings and shops made from wood in Thai primitive style. I was told that the hotel is on the road laid along Nathon beach (ถนนเรียบหาดหน้าทอน). With the shelter cost of Baht 700 per night, it is really worth, compared to the tidiness and cleanness of the room I stayed in, location where is closed to many food shops/restaurants and Nathon pier (ferries to Pa Ngan island). Renting motorcycles or cars or hiring taxis is not a problem at all, just ask a hotel keeper. So I recommend anyone who looks for a budgeted accommodation with a very good location.

Overall I would say that the Rajapruek Resort was a great find! My friends and I was staying on the island for a week in February to attend a wedding at another resort but we couldn't afford some of the 5 star places, so we were looking for something in our price range. We certainly found it. It was a wonderful place to stay and when we saw the prices at the Ban Sabai where the wedding was taking place, luxurious as it may be, we were even more pleased with our choice of accomodation. With Nathon village nearby for shops and cafes, a short taxi ride is all you need if you fancy a change of scenery. Also there are other hotels along the beach, a short walk away for a change of restaurant. Otherwise it is a 30-40 minute taxi ride to the more touristy areas on the East coast. I would recommend The Rajapruek to any couples, friends or families who are looking for a quiet peaceful holiday on a beautiful island. There is some construction going on nextdoor at the moment, I believe as a further development of the expensive and glamorous Nikki Beach hotel nextdoor - however this did not disturb our peace during our visit.

We moved on to 5 star but it can't hold a light. We want to go back. Janya can't do enough. Its a shame its halfway round the world. We prebooked 3 hotels all different types and locations. All non corporate. We found our heaven at Baan Sijan. Being an enthusiastic thai cook I was even invited to the market and helped make under their guidance a buffet for a birthday party. Janya went out of her way all hours to accommodate every guest. We left for another previous 5* booking and immediately regretted it. If you want to experience Thai hospitality at its best I highly recommend it. Attention to detail is above the bar. The Thai waterfront cabins, you can keep them! Sijan. Love you lots Lynn and Stewart. If you want something special and are highly discerning you won't be disappointed. Incredible value and the best quality of hotel and service. We have been to the Siam before so we knew what to expect and I'm glad to say it didn't disappoint in any way. Location for us was great. Nathon town was about 4km away we hired a car but scooters are available. The peace and tranquility of the Siam Residence is diametrically opposite to the hustle and bustle of Nathon and indeed the rest of Samui. Here the staff are fantastic and go beyond duty to make you feel welcome. Food is excellent and covers both Thai and European dishes and for the service and style the price is amazing. The rooms are actually villas so for your money you get a bedroom with two king sized beds and TV. The bathroom is huge with a toilet and shower. A lounge with large sofa, tables and TV. A dressing room with hanging space and drawers enables you to unpack properly and a safe for your secure items. Outside there's a covered porch facing gardens or pool. All kept immaculate by the wonderful cleaners and gardeners. All this at an amazing price

very pretty resort! great for relaxing and getting away from everyday life! very easy to rent scooter and go around whole island for things to do! i would suggest going to nathon for shopping as it is cheaper then lamai and chewang. resort itself is very nice! of course u get occasional lizard and bugs but u r in thailand afterall... resort pricing is more expensive then eating in the city but the food deffinitely tastes better! great sunset and nice little beach! not recomended for party ppl! tip! u can easily access most of those excursions on ur own via scooter! save urself some money! the only thin that u might want to go with a tour on is waterfalls as the hills are a bit steep for the scooter (but still doable if u r gutsy )

The staff here are so very friendly and helpful. They lent me their motorcycle just so I could go and do my washing, and also they drove us to the ferry port for free. The food at the restaurant is definitely the best in the area and you will see this from how busy it becomes in the evenings. The room itself was VERY spacious and clean with simple modern design and it's own dedicated WiFi router. The balcony was very relaxing with a view out into the jungle. The bathroom was again very spacious and clean and well maintained. The beach is literally across the road and is gorgeous, long, and not too busy.

The place is quite simple and minimal, but very cozy and quiet, with a nice space for the guests to relax or eat while enjoying the view on the well maintained garden. The rooms are a bit small and it can be tricky to organize your stuff, but the outside definitely balances out. I found the beds very comfortable and had a very restful sleep. Baan Hinlad is a bit far from town, but since we had rented a motorbike, which in our opinion is the best way to explore the island, for us this was just a plus and gave us a small break from the hectic tourism of Koh Samui. Furthermore, the place is just a few minutes away from a nice waterfall and a temple. The owner is very friendly and helpful and also gave us some recommendations about good places to visit. Definitely worth a stay!

We stayed at the Humble Villas for one night as part of our honeymoon and wished we could stay longer. The staff organised a yummy cheesecake as a honeymoon gift and had beautiful swans decorating our bed. The private plunge pool was a real highlight and the super comfy bed. The sunset view from our pool and the restaurant was one of the best I have ever seen. The breakfast was cooked to order and so delicious. We left Koh Samui by ferry from the Nathon pier so the location of the Humble Villas was perfect for us and very close to the pier.
