Great resort - the staff were excellent. The cottages were excellent value. New years eve was fabulous with a lot of effort made by the staff at the resort. We went with a big group from teeenagers to over 60 and everyone enjoyed their time at the resort, young and older!

Great hotel”
We had great stay in New Star Beach Resort. We spent there 5 days in the middle of December. It is located in the Chaweng Noi Beach, which is only 10 minutes walk from Chaweng Centre. We loved everything about the hotel. The room was very spacious, with great bathroom, which had both a bathttub and a shower. It is beach front hotel with its own private sandy beach. The pool is gorgeous overlooking the sea. They provide graet breakfast which is included in the price. They offer huge selection of food.

Amazing resort on a fantastic beach.”
I can't speak highly enough of the New Start Resort. From the moment I arrived, I was made to feel like a 5 star guest. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and they were always happy to please with a smile. The room I had was a beachfront villa which had everything you could ask for. The outdoor shower in particular was amazing. Walk outside after being on the beach all day and shower under the stars. I will definitely go back to Koh Samui and will go back to New Star. Their catchphrase is "Smile, you are at New Star" and that's exactly how I felt. Thank you again to all the people there. See you again.

Exceptional”
After walking up and down Chaweng beach, I'd be confident to say New Star has one of the nicer/best layout pool and beach areas. The resort is at the southern end of Chaweng closer to Lamai, so it doesn't get the same level of over the top crowds and tourist buzz. Probably a 30min walk to middle Chaweng, though you can't walk all the way along the beach due to a little river inlet not far north. Staff couldn't have done more for you, prices at bar mid range ( still ok). The Pavillon huts were in pretty Good condition , though obviously been there a while, only negative was the stone look tub in our cottage took almost 45 min to fill up and ran out of hot water, kind off kills the romantic mood! Breakfast is pretty Good, but like most buffets you get a bit over the same stuff, though they do mix it up each day. I would certainly re book, only people I wouldn't recommend for is elderly or overweight/mobility impaired

Lovely resort”
We stayed for one week in a cottage with a great view to the beautiful tropical garden. The resort was excellent and the staff very nice and friendly. The swimming pool was perfect, the beach very good as well. We had breakfasts and one dinner in resort restaurant and we enjoyed them. We tried lot of cocktails during our stay, but no cocktail was as good as the ones from New Star. There are lot of options for dinner around hotel and we were satisfied by all we tried. We tried only Thai food and it was delicious and cheap. It is easy to go to Chaweng centre both by hotel shuttle and by taxi. They are both fast and cheap. There are also lot of options for massages in the area. I took one amazing massage at Hotel's spa, but I also tried cheaper massages in Chaweng centre or on the beach, and I do recommend them all.

Excellent stay!!!”
when we arrived at the hotel we were immediately made to feel very welcome and relaxed. Fantastic reception area immediately put a smile on my wife and I's face. We satyed in a cottage room just a few steps from the pool and beach. The staff were very attentive and any questions were easily answered and nothing was too much trouble for them. Good service at the bar by staff who knew what they were doing. Really enjoyed having a cocktail or 2 in the evening. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone of my frinds. It was good to be away from the main part of Cheawang beach at Cheawang Noi. Less noisey. A couple of nice places to eat just a bit further up the beach too. All in all a very relaxing and enjoyable stay. Thansk to all at the New Star resort!!!!!

clean resort, friendly staff, good location”
great location, took about 10mins on a songtaew into the main stretch in chaweng. some staff only spoke limited english but were very friendly and would find someone who could help if they couldnt. the pool was amazing with views over the beach,quiet most of the time at the pool, and 3 happy hours with cocktails for half price so approx aus $3! the beach was beautiful, clean,clear water and lovely and warm for swimming. the buffet breakfast was delicious! you can get the chef to make fresh waffles, eggs, omelets, and there was plenty of otherfood on offer like cereal, juice, pancakes, french toast, bacon, fruit, yoghert, pastries, toast, choc milk, the list goes on :-) we stayed in a cottage and it was clean an very spacious. king size bed, good tv, large bathroom and a private enclosed outdoor bath! the bed was quite hard though. would definitly recommend the new star to friends :-)

Fantastic Hotel in a Perfect location”
My Husband,myself and daughter had a memorable 6 night stay at new star.The staff were very friendly and most helpful. We were upgraded free of charge to a pool villa, we were totally blown away how lovely it was despite the usual hard thai beds.Breakfast was great plenty of choice and in a lovely location.The meals were lovely and especially good value on their themed nights. We even participated in a beach clean up next to the resort, very well organised and everyone was rewarded with refreshments afterwards ,nice to see a hotel concerned about the environment. Lisa one of the managers from Germany was especially lovely and helpful.The beach was right on the hotel doorstep and well serviced by hotel staff chicken satays yummy!The hotel is on a hill so it is a steep walk up to reception but I'm sure you can call and they would come down with the buggy as they do when collecting you luggage.Needed to walk off that wonderful buffet breakfast anyway.Its just a ten minute taxi ride into town and only 200 Bht.I would highly recommend this hotel and will be sure to stay at New Star next time.

Great value 5 star resort with a few problems”
the hotel is situated a 10 minute taxi ride (150 baht, $5 au) from the place to be, chaweng. it definitley earns it's five star rating with the facilities, food and it's amazing location in a more secluded part of the beach. with the notable exception of the front desk, all the staff are incredibly hospitable, smiley and helpful, and the prices for drinks and the high quality cuisine are very reasonable. housekeeping are amazing, cleaning up our cottage and adding small touches like flowers and folding (all) our clothes every day. the chefs and food service staff are incredible, very friendly, polite and attentive. the grounds keepers always give you a very friendly hello (in thai or english). the pool and beach and bar setup is amazing. the only drawback is the front office staff, who seem bored and dissatisfied with their job. normally in thailand everyone at the hotels says hello and asks how you are etc, these guys didn't even bother looking up as we went past, with the notable exception of a very cheery and loud hello on one occasion - when the management was there. overall an amazing luxury experience and very decently priced, especially the cottages which afford privacy and luxury in a very nice garden setting. the housekeeping, grounds-keeping and food service staff are all incredible and deserve our warmest thankyou's. just try not to go up to the front desk too often.

New Star resort is a renovation as the resort is there for more then 25 yrs. But trust me all the rooms are like new. The whole complex gives you an idea of having your holiday in a nature complex with some cottages/rooms well divided on the resort. You hear the smalls waterfalls around your room and see the sparkling water flowing. This gives you a wonderfull and relaxed feeling. Will certainly come back next time when i will visit this part of Ko Samui!

excellent quiet hotel”
we liked it very much, it's a 5 star hotel with quiet location on middle of Chaweng Noi beach, which is next to the Chaweng beach (~2km to Chaweng). There are still constructions going on next to the hotel, but it did not impact our stay at all - there are no significant noises, etc.

Good hotel in good location”
Clean and confortable room although air con was a bit noisy. SOme of the windows/doors didn't quite shut properly (that's SE Asia for you!). Great breakfast with looootttss of choice and no need to eat till dinner time. Bar prices at pool bar were quite expensive. If at the pool/beach during the day go to the lowere bar (in the bamboo topped hut). It's still a New Star bar but drinks are less than half the other bar charges and it onlt takes a 10 sec walk! Service at the pool bar wasn't always great, we got wrongly charged, in happy hour it took us over 20 mins to get our first drinks so that didn't leave much left of happy hour to make full use of it! 3 happy hours a day 12-1, 5-6 & 10-11 -listen for the gong! As the prices are expensive there though it's not the best deal (1/2 price drinks) Except for when we first arrived (when we had to wait after a long wet journey for 30 mins in reception for no obvious reason) the front staff were really helpful and even took us straight to the tourist police when we needed it free oof charge Wifi in the room was awful - mainly no signal at all. Despite all this, a very relaxing location, good stretch of beach, regular shuttle buses to Chaweng( 50bht charge pax though) and we really enjoyed our stay here

Great resort, friendly staff, quiet area”
The internett (wifi) was slow. Other than that, I really don't have much to point to on the negative side. Any small niggles were met with a can-do attitude from staff. Very helpful, very service minded, on a different level than you meet in Europe. They provide hourly shuttles up to Chaweng, but I suggest pre-booking places. Though, don't do the shuttles. Just go out to the road and do the Song-Thaws, a lot more fun than the yellow taxis and resort shuttles. They're 50 THB per person in daytime up to Chaweng area, in evenings and over long distances a bit more, but haggle. That's half the fun. Also, those restaurants out by the road that you might think are just shabby shacks - EAT THERE! Gourmet Terrace has spectacular curries. Hotel restaurant has good food, but a bit more costly than other places to eat. Beach bar not so pricey though. But seriously, eat at the places by the end of the resort's driveway. Just look at their insane ratings on Google.

Great time at NewStar”
Me & my family planned this trip 4 months ago and NewStar didn't dissapoint us. I loved the whole feel of the architecture and room layout. I personally liked the outdoor shower and my wife enjoyed the fact the rooms are surrounded by well-kept gardens. We both loved the beach & the pool area. We didn't feel that the hotel was overcrowded even though it was high season. On the downside, we believe that the hotel should provide a buggy service to ferry people up and down the slope between the rooms and the beach area. Overall, we had a good holiday and we wouldn't mind coming to NewStar again the next time we go to Koh Samui.

the hotel has huge rooms, good service, beautiful swimming pool and a perfect beach! the location is perfect because is close to the chaweng beach that is the most touristic area of the island but at the same time it has a more peaceful and beautiful beach! i strongly recommend this hotel for visiting samui!

Great weekend stay in Koh Samui”
This hotel is great if you look for a location close to Chaweng but at some distance. Beach is very clean and not too shallow. Large swimming pool. Grounds are kept meticulous. Staff has great attitude, is very friendly and helpful. Internet access from room (wireless) at reasonable rates (700 Baht for 6 1/2 hours). Will stay here again on my next visit to Samui.

Got a great low season deal on pool villa room 204. Close to beach and breakfast. RESORT was amazing and staff were super amazing at every meeting. Security guards were super helpful and cheery it was a delight to enter and exit the resort. Hired a runaround from James of JJ car rental so we're back and fourth a lot. Food buffet breakfast was also just right with good selection. And all staff members were very attentive and considerate. WE will be coming back next year for sure!! CHRISTIAN Brown
