It was the best accommodation.”

I was worried because I don't speak Japanese, but everything went smoothly from the contact at the station to boarding the shuttle bus and checking in. Gaisenki was also great, and the open-air bath and accommodation were very impressive. If I visit Kyoto in the future and stay at a ryokan, I will definitely consider revisiting without hesitation. Thank you to the staff who provided excellent service.

Decent stay for Agoda prices.”

I stayed in one of the mid-ranked rooms. This is a decent stay if you get a deal here or some other sale, but I would not pay full price. The facilities are nice, and the hotel is clean, but there just is a significant gap between this and true luxury ryokans which wouldve charged those original prices. The room itself is *awesome*. Newly renovated, private bath, decently spacious, rainfall-style shower booth, it's great. The service is good, but not perfect (for japanese standards), and the dinner and its service was also just good and didn't wow or surprise me in any way (again, for japanese ryokan standards), though being able to be dine in your private room (due to my room class) was very nice. Breakfast being a buffet instead of a sit-down affair, a recent change by the ryokan, is also not my preference but it might be yours! It was still good quality food. The towels in the room/public baths were also a little lower quality than I was expecting for the price. Room scenary is okay, but you knew that booking the hotel, and it is a lot better on the rooftop/higher up public baths. Nitpicks aside, I did enjoy my r and r time here and the staff took good care of me from start to finish, and am satisfied for what i got given what I paid, and its proximity to Kyoto city; not a lot of onsen ryokan options with convenient access in this part of the country. It's just, again, if I were paying full price, and got the same amount of service, i don't know.... 4/5 overall going by Western/non-Japanese rating standards.

Fantastic Onsen Hotel Experience!”

We enjoyed staying at this amazing onsen hotel, and it was a wonderful experience. The hotel is incredibly clean and spacious, providing a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere throughout. The highlight, without a doubt, was the in-room onsen – it was fabulous! Having a private onsen added such a luxurious touch to the stay. The meals were another standout – beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. You can tell that great care goes into every detail. I will definitely return and highly recommend this hotel for anyone seeking a perfect onsen getaway!

Very comfortable oasis”

Never been to a Ryokan Onsen before, so this a real delight. The staff were so incredibly friendly and nice. We reserved a room with a private onsen, which was great to jump into first thing in the morning. Every meal we had there felt like an event, with numerous tiny dishes, mostly fish, in all forms. My partner’s more conservative palette kept her from trying it all, but she did find the main filets very well cooked and enjoyed the meals. I loved the variety and effort the put into the small details of the food. We had one of the “western” breakfasts, which was also delicious, consisting of an omelette, box of small pastries, siphon-brewed coffee, tofu and vegetables, yogurt with fresh fruit, and a salad. We didn’t actually use the public onsens, but I did take a look at the rooftop one which was pretty magnificent. Also we had access to a special lounge that included a foot bath “river”, free beverages and free tiny Haagen-Dazs, due to us taking the more expensive room I believe. I was also able to snag a massage the same day in their spa. It was delightful and the masseuse was very skilled and understood me despite the language barrier between us. The area around the onsen didn’t seem to have much going for it. There’s a FamilyMart within walking distance. For our short stay we decided to just stick around the ryokan. Overall, I would definitely do it again, just the same. Recommended if you want to try a ryokan onsen and want something more affordable.

Wonderful for food and onsen”

The room was lovely and clean, breakfast was great, the evening meals in our own dining area were excellent. But, this is a 2 night hotel. There is not much nearby, no easy walks close to the hotel. You can take a train to Kyoto everyday, but we had already stayed in Kyoto for 6 days previously, so 5 days here was probably 2 days too much. We did visit Hikone Castle which was wonderful and a few temples close by, but everywhere was a taxi trip. To conclude, great hotel for Onsen and food. Stay tmfor 2 or 3 nights max
