It's great for it's price ”
I was a bit hesitant to book this place because of all the negative reviews it had but I took my chances anyway. I spent two nights in Phrae but only stayed at Paradorn for one night. I paid 290 baht taxes included my room was clean, didn't smell like cigarettes, had clean smelling towels, hot water, Wifi worked great, bed wasn't as hard as a rock and you get breakfast which isn't bad. Coffee, toast, stirred fry veggies, rice and rice soup with pork at least that's what I got. I split that cost with one other person we practically paid nothing. I thought it was a great deal.

Largish budget hotel with good sized rooms”
The hotel is situated right on the old 101 road in the middle of Phrae (pronounce Phrair), ie not the new by-pass road, also called 101. It is a fair sized budget hotel with both fan and air-con rooms, we had two air-con rooms. The rooms were a decent size and had high ceilings so gave a good impression of spaciousness. The twin beds were good size singles but unfortunately were extremely hard so not at all conducive to a good nights sleep. Lighting was reasonable. The room had 2 spare electrical sockets for guest use as well as a shaver point in the bathroom – great. TV was a decent size and there was Cable TV though I couldn't find any English language channels on it. We were on the 2nd floor in 308 & 310 and the view was of the main road below and a building opposite so not great. Also it was fairly noisy at times when some of the bigger lorries passed. Free internet access was available, get the 10 number password from Reception. Connection speeds in our room were slow and sometimes failed but it was OK for checking e-mail etc. The bathroom was a adequate size with a shower, toilet and washbasin. Water pressure was OK, no hot water tap in the washbasin so you had to use water from the shower if you wanted warm/hot water. No toiletries apart from soap. We ate in the hotel restaurant in the evening and although we were the only customers there, service was friendly and the food quality perfectly fine. Breakfast however was very poor, with the only food being provided buffet style was Kow Thom (Thai rice soup) and 2 fried rice, and fruit Service was generally fine with the staff being polite and helpful. English understanding though was very limited. Parking was plentiful and accessed from either the main road or the side road which goes past the side of the hotel at the traffic lights. Although there were some drawbacks, the hotel was good value for the price that we paid and if we came back to Phrae for a short visit we would probably use it again.

You get what you pay for here. No issues with correct expectations”
Right, we have seen all the bad reviews of this place moaning about this and that but seriously what were they expecting? A 5 star hotel for a 1 star price?! For £5 gbp/night you get a double room, balcony with mountain views, a free buffet breakfast and access to a museum on the grounds. You're not a million miles away from the old town and the bus station is just a 3 minute walk away. The place is a little rough and ready, don't expect an amazing paint job, marble tiled floors or a Whistler painting mounted on the wall. The room was clean and the staff were nice though. The shower didn't heat any water but when it's 30 plug degrees all you want is a cold shower! If you're passing though this would be an ideal stop off.

Central location and cheap, but not the cleanest”
just stayed one night - no problems with check-in. room was ok, but the beds in one room were rock hard, and the beds in our second room were really soft. the bathrooms weren't very clean, but they were ok. had all the basic supplies (towel, soap, tp) and the tv had 50 odd channels, including quite a few english ones. was in phrae for the marathon, and got back after breakfast had finished, so can't comment on the breakfast at all.

Ignoring all the negative reviews, actually you get more than what you pay here. The price is very cheap, the rooms were okay and they were offering simple breakfast in the morning.

The hotel is very close to the bus station but very far from the few attracrions Phrae has to offer.The Receptionosts were very friendly and helpful.

OK for one night stay”
This hotel is a little old but offers a clean bed for an overnight stay.The bathroom set up leaves little room for leg room when using the toilet.A Thai style breakfast is included in the price eg curry and rice or rice soup as well as toast and jam.

5 mins walk from the bus station. the wifi was decent. There was a friidge in the room. The breakfast was simple, toast and coffee ith Thai food too. That was rice and something else. also iced water. No complaints at all. The hotel itself is a little worn

Convenient for bus station but nothing else”
The room was very basic.The Westerb breakfast was simply 2 slices of toast with jam and butter.The Thai breakfast was somewhat better. The hotel is only about 5 minutes walk from the bus station,which is great for arrival and departure but bad for sightseeing since the historical centre is about 2km away.The staff,especially the Receptionists,were very friendly and helpful.

Rack rate cheaper than Agoda”
This is a good value for the price. Very close to the bus station on the main street through town if that is important. Beds were comfortable. Rooms were clean although a little dated. Cheaper to walk in from the street and get a room than to book through Agoda, that was my only disappointment, other than that it is a decent, cheap, place to spend a night

Practical, simple and value-for-money”
The DIY shop close by was playing extraordinarily loud music into the early evening but other than that, this hotel is great for a budget night or 2. I had reserved the cheapest possible room, probably the least I have ever paid to stay somewhere. Would go back.
