Very Comfortable ”

Picked us up from train station without having to organise it. Arranged a guide, Ko Oo for an overnight Homestay in the mountain village- highly recommended. Beds comfortable, at last! It wasn’t a doona, standard everywhere else. Good spread for breakfast. They were there to please.

Friendly Staff, Spacious Room ”

Plenty of room, breakfast buffet was good, although caters more for the local palate. My wife left her jumper on the Bagan to Mandalay ferry, mentioned that to the front desk- said they would see what they can do. Next day the jumper was on her bed. Completely unexpected & shows they made an effort. Con. The sink in the bathroom leaked badly all over the floor & was wobbly.

Great hotel to stay in Hsipaw”

The hotel offers free pick up from train station which is great for us when traveling with kids. Staff always go above and beyond to help us with anything we ask for help i.e. reservation for bus ticket or trip information. Clean room and big comfy bed. Great value and fantastic stay.

Fantastic”

Arrived in Hsipaw feeling rather ill but we were delighted with this hotel as it was exceptionally clean and fresh, a great place to recover. Staff were friendly and attentive, breakfast was the best yet after being in Myanmar for 3wks. Highly recommended.

NIce place, but cold in December”

My second stay here, as it is a nice place. The only problem that in December it is rather cold - and sometimes warmer outside. I had to get an extra blanket.

Very good hotel !”

The staff is really nice and helpful. The room was clean and so confortable. Also you can have a delicious breakfast with toasts, shan noodles soup, rice etc... They can also book bus ticket for you, and you can ask them trek informations. Very good value for money !

Nice new hotel”

Very nice hotel with friendly, helpful staff - The manager is very kind and attentive to guests needs. Breakfast was lovely on the upper floor with great view of Hsipaw, tasty food too with a good mix of Western & local. Close to anything you need (restaurants, trek tours, bus, etc) and there is a guide available to take you out for the 1 hr walks to waterfalls, sunset hill, Shan Palace. Great place to have as a base to spend a quiet few days away from cities.

wonderful stay ”

this hotel was a needed break from our stay in Mandalay. it was new, spacious, functional and even had a little balcony that looked out onto the quiet street. breakfast was on the roof, and although a little cold in the morning, they had a good spread including Shan specialties we could sample. the bikes for rent could be improved however, as the brakes didn't really work & bikes were too rickety to be ridden on the dirt roads nearby.

Truck meet us at the train station. Hotel is not far from station. Clean room. Rain shower head but the bathroom is the shower. WiFi was slow with a lot of buffering. Staff helpful but English was limited. Lots of street noise but the entire town seems noisy. Breakfast was strange but filling. Owner is very helpful and speaks English. Hotel is 2 years old.

Best stay in Myanmar”

We had an amazing stay (which we decided to extend!)! Staff is friendly, the bungalow clean and cozy, everything was just perfect. At the reception they organized some tours for us and they were really great. I wouldn't stay in any other place in Hsipaw!

Very pleased with my choice of hotel”

I wasn't relying on it, but I was pleased that they could check me into the room when I arrived from Lashio at 10am. Nice room, though would have liked heating. Helpful, friendly staff who could arrange a guide. Always had an umbrella to hand to borrow when it was raining. Handy location for the railway station (about 10 minutes walk away.) Will definitely stay here if I'm in Hsipaw again.

BEST Guest House I’ve Stayed at in Myanmar / Fantastic Breakfast”

While this is at a higher price point than I usual pay, it’s by far the best accoms I’ve stayed at in Myanmar & since most foreigners stay w/ the Mr. Charles monopoly, the staff/owner here is extra attentive. Note that the Chinese owner (he’s usually around+some staff/relatives speak good English) also owns the Yee Shin Guest House on the main road (meant to be a budget accom-so not as good as this place). The room is super clean/comfortable, the water is very hot, Internet worked ok & there is an excellent roof top buffet breakfast w/ a lot of Myanmar food available. There is also a bike available to rent I think for a nominal amount+they can organize hikes/guides. The train station is walking distance BUT the owner drove me there & helped me buy a ticket to Pyin Oo Lwin the morning the train left. One think I wished I had known: The only reason to go over to something owned by Mr. Charles is that his restaurant has a special Shan dinner (for two) BUT you must order a day ahead.

Relaxing stay ”

We stayed 4 nights in one of the beautiful private bungalows. There was no fridge (although advertised as having one) which was a bit of a dissapointment for a longish stay. We were given bottled water on only 2 of our 4 nights, but there was cold bottled water for sale at reception so easy to purchase some. The hot water / shower etc was good, the linens fresh and clean, the beds very comfortable and air conditioning worked well. I am a light sleeper and was woken constantly during the night by a nearby generator turning on and off, my partner didn't hear it.....but we were both woken several times each night by nearby packs of barking dogs. Perhaps the hotel rooms may have more noise insulation. Breakfast each morning was one of the best of our month long stay in Myanmar. Our requested late check out was charged at 250 00 kyat which I thought a little steep, especially as we had been told it would only be half our room rate. The position of the hotel is absolutely perfect.

The best value in Hsipaw. The Golden Guest is an immaculately clean, new, family operated hotel in a perfect location. The beds are extremely comfortable, and the linens are new. We stayed in the bungalow, and the wooden walls and great lighting make the space very inviting. Breakfast is great and changes slightly every day, and I highly recommend the Shan Noodles. Really everything about this hotel and its staff is first rate, and unlike the other hotel in town the owners are a warm and pleasant local family that really cares about your happiness and comfort. WiFi can be a bit spotty, but a couple dollars gets you a cell phone chip right across the street. Make sure to buy the tour of the local villages at the front desk.
