WiFi never works”

Room was spacious, shower and breakfast was good. Staff were generally polite and helpful, however I couldn’t enjoy my staying due to two reasons. -WiFi didn’t works during my stay. I was told I could use in the common area, but never works which was very inconvenient. Two girls at the reception were watching something on their phone for a while, so not sure if they use SIM card or staff could use different WiFi... -Hotel is located a bit far from central. After sunset you must have to have light to go back to the hotel. Might be a good place if you want to do digital detox or just relaxing, but it wasn’t for me.

Good short stay hotel ”

Nice big room with good water pressure and electrical supply. Near by restaurant across the hotel also provide good food at reasonable prices. Hotel is about 750 meters from the truck stop going to the golden rock. Cannot comment on the WiFi though because I use prepaid data card.

Great place and location”

Golden Sunrise is just out of town (an easy 5 -10 minute walk) so this makes it very quiet at night. I stayed in a bungalow set in a garden which was lovelly, the bungalow is very big, has a large bathroom, fridge, kettle and also outdoor furniture. There is also a block of rooms which I was told are larger then the bungalows so if you have a few people staying these would be better. There is also a restuarant and the meals are a little dearer than town. You can only use wifi at reception but thats not a problem. I would definately stay here again.

Good hotel with friendly staff, but very little point in being here as the’Golden Rock’ is completely covered up for maintenance?/renovation?/who knows why? For other travelers, seriously consider whether you want to waste the days here with nothing to see.

Ideal stay for Kyaiktiyo Pagoda / Golden Rock”

The quiet resort style accommodations here were clean, wifi worked well, shower had hot water and beds were comfortable. Staff had limited English ability, but it was enough to help travelers understand what they need to do to get up to the famous Kyaiktiyo Pagoda/Golden Rock. They can also help book night bus tickets to other parts of Myanmar (Bagan, Inle Lake, etc.), but make sure you confirm where the bus company will drop you off as there are many bus companies with different pick up/drop off points. Breakfast was very basic, but OK in quality, and I could leave my bag in the room past check-out while I returned from my morning visit to the Golden Rock (left 730am, returned 1215pm), staff let me check-out late and shower before leaving the hotel. Rooms were a little dark, some of the outlets did not work, and there were mosquitoes in the room (it is SE Asia, bring a mosquito net!). 9.6/10 would stay again!!

Right now they're doing construction on the top floor. If you wanted to sleep late to take a long bus ride this isn't the place until they finish the construction. Other than that it's a great place. Good staff, nice grounds and I would recommend it

I very nice hotel with good service, but terrible WiFi”

@ Hotel management Guys, you honestly have to fix the problem with the WiFi. In 2019, it is not acceptable that the WiFi connection is only available at the reception. Just use the extenders (consts around 15$ each) to establish the internet connection over the place. Plus, you should stop switchind off the router over night. With all that internet problems that can be fixed within 30 min time you ruin the impression of the hotel that is actually very nice.

A charming place in a nice garden”

I am happy about my stay at Golden Sunrise Hotel having enjoyed my large room and large bathroom as well as the view to the beautiful garden from my terrace. Staff was very nice but their English is quite limited. Breakfast was good in their charming restaurant.

+ immaculate, very clean room and surroundings, warm big shower + Friendly helpful staff + Great food and breakfast + Lovely relaxed atmosphere - only thing I could fault was that the air con was on the cold side, doesn't have a remote but I stood on a chair and turned it down (I'm sure if I told the staff they'd have done this) One of the best places we've stayed on our 4 month trip definitely recommend

An oasis”

Beautifully presented gardens and rooms. Bathroom has a huge separate shower and the toilet is in a room of its own too! Huge room with great little touches. Restaurant has a good breakfast and menu with very attentive staff. Yes, the wifi is only at reception but if you have a local SIM card it’s not a problem. Best place we have stayed in Myanmar yet.

Quite and charming hotel”

Very calm and quite place. Only 10 minutes walk to Kyaiktiyo bus station. Due to unstable power conditions in the area power went off several times(Of course the hotel has nothing to do with it). However, hotel generator gave the backup power. English speaking nice staff. Greatly recommended.

Nice hotel, beautiful garden”

Very spacious rooms and a nice balcony. It’s clean and everything works (if electricity doesn’t fail, which happens once in a while, but there’s a backup generator!). We enjoyed the friendly staff and were pleased that the restaurant could meet our vegetarian needs. The truck stop to get to the Golden Rock is just a short (10 minute) walk into the centre.

Great place to start our Golden Rock trip”

We spent a day at Golden Sunrise Hotel, nice place to relax for a night before we start our journey to Golden Rock next morning. Big room and quiet place. Just 10 minutes walk from hotel to Kinpun Base Camp and Truck station to Golden Rock. We booked our bus ticket back to Yangon ( Win Express) next day at 2pm. Staff waiting for bus on behalf of us at the roadside, while we were resting at the lobby. We were so touching.

Staff were lovely.the huts were very sweet and clean with large bathroom.great location for visiting the golden rock. The hike is 14km and worth it rather than going in the truck. truck returning to Kinpun was hair raising!!!

And, They give me sugguestion to go Golden Rock, Help me to book Bus Ticket from Hotel to Yangon. (2) Clean Tidy & Good Decoration, the room is clean and the decoration like resort in Bali of indonesia. (3) Good Price, I use SGD 60.00 to book twin bed room. It is reasonable price. But, The Wifi is weak, it is acceptable in Myanmar. And it need to walk from Truck station to Hotel (around 10 minutes).

sunny surprise during a rainy trip”

Our stay was great. The weather was bad, but having it as a take off point for visiting the Golden Rock Pagoda is fine. Very friendly and helpful staff, clean big rooms, nicely decorated, own terrace, good toilet/shower facilities. maybe a minus was the old fashioned small TV and a limited number of channels.

Beautiful setting, great large rooms, amazing staff, good food and just a 15 minute walk to transport to Golden Rock. If coming by bus, let the driver know you are staying at Golden Sunrise and they will drop you at the front gate.

Great location for Golden Rock visit”

Hotel is dated and resort like. Quiet and clean. Everything us just ok. Room & bathroom are big but lighting dim. Aircon was noisy. WiFi is only available at the reception area and shoes must be removed to get up to reception. Breakfast is a la carte style with limited choice. Water pressure for shower is weak but hot water is available. Hotel is very close to Golden Rock transport station. Eat at the restaurant directly opposite the hotel. Food is good and cheap.
