Ranong Province hotels & places to stay

Always a pleasure to stay at the Blue sky resort koh phayam. In my opinion it's the best resort on the island if you just looking to chill out and relax. The food is good and not too expensive like some 4 star resorts on the island. We got this villa 20% cheaper booking with Agoda than if we would of booked via the resort website. Highly recommended and will always stay at the blue sky resort when on koh phayam.

Having booked my self into a 4 star beach resort for a few days to only find out that it was a dump and no were near a beach just a dirty noisy river. I was extremely relieved to move and spend the rest of my trip at the hidden resort. It definitely was more than I expected and I would highly recommend it. I can honestly say it has to be the best hotel in Ranong. It is in a quite rural location with beautiful gardens near a small river. The food is fantastic and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful.

On my first walk down the beach, it was pristine and completely empty, with perfect white sand, aqua blue water and green mountains in the backdrop, just as the the postcard pictures you've seen. I found my perfect spot on the veranda of my little bungalow, where i can line in the reclining chair reading, enjoying sea breeze, sunset on the beach and fantastic thai food from the restaurant, it doesn't get much better than this. There were 2 large glass window/sliding doors opening to the wonderful beach in my room. The only concern i had was that you cannot lock them, so basically anybody can climb into the bungalow by pushing the doors open. A little scary, specially after one very strange night when i ordered a watermelon juice from the hotel restaurant my bungalow. Before i even finished it i started to feel real strange in my head, dizzy with a weird headache, almost like i was drunk, but there was no alcohol in my juice, and i wouldn't get drunk after only one drink either, so i didn't know what was happening and was kind of worried, thought i was coming down with something bad, went to bed after a few hours and thought i was better. But the next morning it was the same, i felt like i had a really bad hangover or something. I didn't have time to check it out because i had to go to Ranong that day to catch a flight back to bkk the next morning. Luckily the strange headache disappeared. When i told people about it they said it might be something in my juice, like the kind of drug used in bars so that women could be raped when they were unconscious. But i wasn't unconscious, just very dizzy. It was obvious though i was staying in that bungalow alone by myself, since there was only 3 bungalows that were occupied. Fortunately nothing happened that night, i guess i was luck after all. But if you are female and travel alone, be aware.

I was very impressed upon arrival. We arrived after a long day. The sweet woman at reception was so kind and helpful in getting us settled in and making us feel at home. The lobby area is beautiful and there is a small cafe with a sitting area where you can relax. The sweet staff at the front desk inquired about our plans. I am glad she did because she helped coordinate transportation and gave recommendations for the area and suggestions for our next destination. The hotel is a few minutes walk from, eateries, food stalls and 7-11 so finding something to eat was easy Breafast was tasty. The coffee drinks are really good and the barista really knows how to impress. My latte had beautifully decorated foam on top. The room was very clean, had everything we needed and most importantly, comfortable after a long work and travel day. Thank you so much for the hospitality! I plan to return for my next trip to Ranong.

This was my first visit to Koh Payam and found it to be a haven away from the madness of the resorts south of here. Just a short ferry ride from Ranong ( no cars allowed ) it is such a different and peaceful place. As a solo traveler, I booked Nitiporn because of closeness to the Pier. It is a short walk through the village, over a foot bridge and to a much more secluded beach (next to the beautiful and very pricey) Blue Sky Resort. My budget option was a fan only bungalow, but just steps from the beach it was perfect! A small restaurant serves great food and drinks but there are very many other choices on the Island. Most visitors rent Motor bikes, but motor cycle taxis are fairy cheap to the other Beaches- a must see while on the Island.

I've heard many of the hotels in Ranong aren't as they are described. So our expectations weren't too high. However, we were pleasantly surprised. Cool hotel, nicely designed, functional rooms, decent restaurant and EXCELLENT value. A few reviews we read criticized the breakfast, yes it was simple but totally adequate. Travellers who are expecting more really need to try a different country or spend 5 times the amount on accommodation... thoroughly recommended. (PS: skip Rahsawarin springs and head to Porn Rang springs, much nicer)

From what I survey in Ranong, probably the best choice for resort/hotel. Very nice design and garden style. Open air area. I read some negative comments about "small" swimming pool. Well,yes it is not an Olympic size swimming pool but definitely more than enough, unless u wanna play water polo with 20 people ;-) I was happy with it Staff is kind and wanna help, even if it seems they don't know much the surroundings. But they can still help. Fully recommend this hotel. Especially for Ranong standard.

Looking for a budget hotel in Ranong for few days as we planned to make few day trips in Myanmar islands, we decided to book 2 nights only in Rueangrat hotel and once there decide if the hotel is ok. We then booked another 3 nights! The hotel is a budget hotel, so don't expect all facilities of a 5 stars but for the price, it provide all you need during your stay. The rooms are very clean, the shower is very good with good pressure and good hot water. The room are spacious. Perfect location in the center with plenty of restaurants and bars around. Easy to park your car in front of the hotel. Quiet. Good air condition and cable TV. The staff are very helpfull and friendly. They will provide you any information's you need. One point: The beds are very hard. Be aware about it if you are not used to it. But for us, it was no problem at all. Should I have to stop again in Ranong, I will stay in this hotel again. Very convenient.

It’s been our first time in Ranong. We flew from Bangkok and rented a car from Ranong airport. The hotel is located in city center and close to tourist attractions. It took only 25 minutes driving from the airport. The hotel’s staff was soooo lovely and friendly. I stayed in Tripple room for 2 nights and it was value-for-money. What I loved the most is breakfast (yes, it’s free!) Breakfast was very very good and delicious. There are many kinds of Thai food (esp. authentic southern food). We can say that we love this place! Next time we go to Ranong, we will definitely go back to this hotel!!

Just lovely, this resort offers a splendid view over the sea and the rest of the island, rooms are clean and airy. Electricity is on nearly 24h, and they provide a fan in each room. Aircon is really not needed because of the breeze. The restaurant offers "I think" the best and cheapest food on the entire island, bigger portions and cheaper than outside...which is BIG plus in my book. I would recomend renting a scooter, since its the best way og getting around. This my second stay in this place, and keep comming back - just perfect!

On the whole, my stay was very pleasant, even though the normal manager was on maternity leave and another worker had stepped in to fill the role temporarily, but he was competent enough. The location is gorgeous and the huts adequate, though the electricity is not on continuously. For this reason alone, it doesn't deserve a 2-star rating. Also, there's only wifi in the dining area and not in the huts. Otherwise, breakfast arrangements were flexible enough to suit me, which is a big plus, and they didn't mind my using the socket in the dining area for doing my emailing, though they resisted the idea in the beginning. Overall, the resort deserves a good rating,and I wouldn't hesitate going there again.

When we arrived at Heaven Beach Resort our first impression was not so good, but it really grew on us. As we arrived, bags on our backs, there was no obvious reception desk, and after poking around for a minute or two, we asked a young European guy and a Thai woman at one of the restaurant tables. Suddenly they sprung into action - they were reception! The restaurant is just a handful of tables and seats on the sand (lovely for lunch, not so good if it's raining). The beach is darker volcanic sand here and has reef rocks right in front of the hotel, but we later found the best spots to swim - slightly to either side. But our room was gorgeous with perfect beach views either from its porch or sitting up in bed. (All the eight bungalows that make up the resort are beachfront) The bathroom is outside, and very deluxe (again, not so great when it rains, although I guess for the shower it doesn't really matter!) Little details, like a grass broom on each porch so you could sweep it off yourself if you tracked in sand as the day went along. The staff, mostly Burmese, were so attentive and friendly, despite some mistakes in their third language (English, after Burmese and Thai). A "room book" where everything got written up (or DIY), so no cash required at the beach. The mismatched beach furniture and umbrellas nicely cleaned and lined up each morning. Delicious food at the restaurant, including fresh-made bread and yogurt daily. And two excellent restaurants at neighboring properties (Baan Klong Kleng & Mr Gao) as well. The more we get to know the place the better we liked it - it really is the backpacker beach bum resort for grown-ups!! The rooms have the comfort and luxury, and the restaurant has the high food quality to support the deluxe price tag (deluxe by Koh Phayam standards, not by Phuket standards!) while everything else had the super-casual feel of a $20/night backpacker place.

We arrived in Ranong after a 90 mins Nok Air flight.We stayed one night in Nailin Place. We got the 09-30 slow boat for 200 Bht each. The boat dropped us at the edge of the sea by Cashew Resort. Reception was rapid and efficient. Our chalet/hut was lovely. The restaurant was cheaper than most of Bangkok. The food was well cooked. Electricity was on from, about 18-00 until about 23-00 Internet was a bit slow but at least it worked. There is a Mini mart about ten minutes walk from Cashew.There is also a Bakery somewhere near the Mini mart. We never found it. We can thoroughly recommend Cashew Resort. We wonder how long it will survive in its present form as a big hotel is bound to buy such a wonderful site.

I felt like home in the first minutes after arriving! You get a map, a glass of water and the lovely owner explain the island and the best places for snorkeling diving, sightseeing etc.! Every day room service! Towels, water and cleaning up the room! It's a very lovely complex in the middle of a rubber tree plantage. They keep everything very clean, make great food and help you solving any kind of problems the best way they can! I enjoyed the last days of my trip in a bamboo bungalow! Booked 5 nights, stayed 10 ;) If you want a real quiet and relaxed place to stay in Phayam, book Rabbit! You can have great food there or walk some minutes. WiFi is great, the beach is perfekt! I come back for sure! And book only here! Enjoyed every second of my stay! Thank you for everything!! Good luck for the future and stay as you are!!

A local peaceful location with only the sound of birdsong and waves from the ocean.. The food at the restaurant was excellent and reasonably priced. Chooky the waiter was charming and funny! The bungalow was comfortable with a nice veranda and side view of the sea. The beach is clean and lovely and they provide sunloungers. Nice clear water. The only downside was the tide went out at 3pm. Otherwise highly recommended. Would definitely stay here again.

The rooms here are great. Absolutely spotless, with comfortable beds, and good aircon and a great vier on the national park in this resorts backyard. We all had a good bight's sleep here. The owner is a wonderful lady who runs the resort herself. She cooked our breakfast in the morning, though my booking website didn't indicate it was included. The breakfast was absolutely fabulous. We received several complementary dishes, and the coffee from the attached coffeeshop was great. The owner takes a real interest in her guests and made us feel really at home. There is a small official bicycle pathway that was recently finished, running from this resort on past the nearby waterfall national park entrance and leading all the way back into Ranong. The owner let us borrow her bicycles free of charge in the morning. My son and I had a great time going around. This place is a gem. We will definitely return. Oh, we also got a free room upgrade! Just fantastic service!

We arrived at 9 a.m. to see if they would allow us to store our luggage there until it was time to check in. We had taken the overnight bus to get there and were so tired that we just wanted to dump our bags somewhere so we could go eat. There was a wonderful young man working the front desk who spoke very good English and he informed us that the rooms had all been cleaned and he would be happy to let us check in early. I cannot say enough good things about this man, he helped us out many times over our stay, making phone calls in Thai for us and helping us figure out how to get to where we wanted to go. The rooms were extremely clean, the pool was very, very clean and in good condition and the kids got such a kick out of the different houses, especially the upside down house. The resort is about ten minutes outside of town, so to us that was a benefit since we didn't want to be near the hustle and bustle. The breakfast in the morning was okay, pretty much on par with what most Thai hotels offer. The only issue we had was the construction work being done at 7:30 in the morning. We don't often get to sleep late, so since we were on vacation we had hoped to be able to do so. Hammering and yelling to each other that early in the morning is not a good idea, especially since everything is in such close proximity. We will definitely be staying here again in the future.

Free kayaking, clean rooms, riverviews. I hired a scooter so can easily travel arong ranong, though it is 300 baht from this hotel... im used to 200 to 250. I went out at night to get something.. i noticed something moving very slowly among the power lines. I beleive it was a type of lemur or slough. We tried searching for more but could find any but it was an amazing experience. The owner was genuinely lovely, when i told her about my girl friends problems she understand and did all she could to rectify. The complex has a small cafe usually with no one inside so virtually private.. all with glass walls and air conditioning with a tv and two sofas.. my and my partner enjoyed eating here. One night we bought crabs and vegitables. The owner is more then happy to cook the food at 60 baht per dish. If you sre vegetarian i reccommend buying pumpkin curry for her to cook. Was the best i have ever had. Would stay again if i was in the area. Thanks!

We had a wonderful time at Ailay. We booked the comfort bungalow directly on the beach and really loved it. There’s nothing like seeing the ocean from your bed and falling asleep hearing the sound of the waves. :) The owners are supernice, very helpful and the best cooks we found on the island! Try the fish in Choo Chee curry - it’a amazing. Everything they offer feels authentic and special and nothing like the tourist ripoff you may find somewhere else. We definitely recommend going there!
