Trang Province hotels & places to stay

This is a great resort off the beaten path. If you want to ditch the party scene and are looking for a quiet place to relax, this place should be on your list if you plan to visit Trang Province. My wife is from Krabi and we have traveled extensively throughout southern Thailand over the years. It's one of the few resorts on the island (perhaps the only resort) that has a swimming pool. It's located within a national park and the beach/views are stunning. The resort common areas could use a little TLC, but still worth a stay. It's pricey, but one of the most scenic and quiet resorts in the area. If we get back to Trang, this place is a re-do for us.

Our second stay as we enjoyed our first. On this occasion we stayed in both the best room for views (room 3) and also spent one night in the deluxe beach front tent. Once again the staff were excellent especially the team running the bar who are all very good at their jobs. The tent is very large in size and affords views directly on to the beach, however due to its location & it being a tent you will hear everything early in the morning ( long tails & roosters ) and is probably a bit over priced compared to the cost of rooms 2 & 3. The Thai food was always well prepared and tasty. The breakfasts were always freshly prepared with plenty of instant coffee refills available. Excellent wifi and very reasonable hotel bar prices.

Our stay at the Coral Garden Resort on Ko Kradan was our favorite part of our trip to Thailand. The island itself is absolutely beautiful and the location of the resort is perfect as it's a little north of where the long tail boats land and a little quieter. The staff were fantastic, they were so friendly.althoigh our favorites were Bom and Som, the massage ladies who did such a great job. We actually scheduled messages almost everyday of our stay. The food was amazing! Both the Italian and Thai food was so good, we didn't try any other restaurant on the island. Although the Thai food was always good, we noticed when a certain Thai lady chef was in the kitchen, the food was extraordinary! Best I've ever had! The Italian pasta was as good as we've had in Italy. And the cappuccinos were great treat in the morning. We really enjoyed our stay at the Coral Garden and we miss it so much now that we're home.

Trang city will be your hub stop if u r headed to any of the surrounding islands for adventure, Koh Mook, koh Kradan etc.(aprox 50min drive from Trang city to the coast/boat ) The south is not anything like the melting pot of Thailand 'BKK' , the local economy is agriculture. rubber, cashew nuts etc. local pass times is duelling bulls. "big money livestock!" Backpacker types will be at home here. the local language even thickens the more closer u get to Malaysia. funny, even central Thais have to listen closely to understand the southern locals...dialect & southern twang... lol The Thurmin Thana hotel may be the cities best offering when it comes to western standards. Stay away from the spa (mezzanine floor) in the Thurmin Thana hotel. " terrible service for thai standards" u r better elsewhere. In general the accommodations r at its best..just another standard hotel..there are professional services available. (ex.) catering, business center etc. upside is also security. There is key access to activate elevators up to the rooms, heavy lobby staff and theres proud security personnel like most organized accommodations in thailand. For the price its worth it. Everything worked in my room. AC :), a view, local TV...yah and western toilet haha....i have humbly no complaints and not much expectations! The staff is great. Professional and courteous. Limited in english but can get by. Expect major english language limitations outside of the hotel. Better work on your charades game. Get a hotel business card before u depart for adventure. it will help the driver to understand going back to the "rhong rham= hotel" Thumrin Thana . The local food is where its at though. Go off grid and take a old school classic tuk tuk. Now i know how it is to be on R&R back in the day. Go get some thai/ muslim fusion cuisine. U r in a ancient country. Your in the south now!

Best hotel, super nice rooms and design. It is amazing how much detail they put in with decoration and lights etc. best manager and staff. Super friendly and helpful. It was great to have local staff that wanted to show you all they could from the wonderful islands. The manager organized amazing trips. Food was great and best value for money! We would recommend this hotel to everyone and if we go back to Thailand we would definitely come back. Thank you for our wonderful stay.

This is a lovely spot on Koh Libong. It's easy enough to get to from Trang airport. The rooms are super clean and comfortable, the gardens nice and relaxing. The food is excellent, especially the breakfast. The surroundings are very natural and unspoiled: we saw eagles just by the resort, dugongs, dolphins and sailfish from the boat trips. The long-tail boat trips are good to see some of the other Trang islands and well worth doing, especially if you like snorkeling. You can also borrow canoes from the resort or motorbikes to tour the island: there's a fishing village to see, a few other beaches, a cliff-top view point to see dugongs if you are lucky (you climb through a cave to get there). The best thing is the staff: wonderfully friendly and helpful. The only slightly disappointing thing was the beach at the resort is not so good for snorkeling but the boat trips can take you to nearby islands for that, no problem. I hope I can make it back here some time soon!

We loved our stay at Reef Resort and after seeing all the accommodation on the island, were very happy we chose this one. The breakfast buffet was great (amazingly delicious pancakes!), comfortable beds, and super friendly and helpful staff. The setting was also extremely relaxing, with plenty of places to relax right in front of a gorgeous view of the beach and refreshing pool to take a dip in as well. We loved how close the room was to the beach so going back and forth was very easy (especially helpful when our baby needed to take naps in the room). We had really good lunches here every day but there are also other good restaurants nearby if you want to change your setting. We loved our stay and for sure would recommend it to anyone traveling to the Trang islands!

We were here before heading to Koh Lanta. Hop Inn is really value for money if you are looking for a place to rest. The mattress is so comfortable that you would wish not to get out of it. Everything works well here. The complimentary coffee from 6.00 to 11.00 am add a credit to its facilities. Robinson's superstore is just opposite of the hotel. You can get anything you want there. We will stay here again if we are in Trang.

The location was very good, between the village and Charlie beach. The hotel has bicycles that you can borrow, so it was quick and easy to reach both the village and Charlie beach. Unbelievably friendly and helpful staff., a big thank you and a warm hug to Cartoon, the manager of the place. The cleaning staff surprised us every day with the most imaginative and funny towel arrangements. We stayed in the beach front villa, and the sea during high tide reached a few meters from it. It was nice to follow the local fishermen from our porch, however, best for swimming is the nearby Charlie beach. The people in Koh Muk were very friendly, and the best part of our holiday was to get to know the local inhabitants. As to eating, we definitely would recommend Hilltop on the way to Charlie beach. A friendly, family-run restaurant serving large portions of delicious freshly-made Thai food. The hotel also has a wide choice of meals, the food there was delicious as well. We hope to return one day.

The entire hotel is sparsely furnished, but beautifully appointed. I reserved a superior room.(M9) My room had large windows that faced out to the street, but they didn't allow much of the street noise into the room. This room was also closest to the balcony; perfect for people watching. Everything was great until I was preparing for bed and found ants on the duvet and in my bed. I informed the front desk staff and they immediately moved me to the other superior room(M8). This room lacked the natural light and airy calm of the original room (M9) but I was just glad that the staff was attempting to keep me comfortable. I thought everything was good until going to bed the next night, ants once again were in my room. They weren't in my bed so I didn't complain, but there is definitely an ant problem at night. During the day, they were nowhere to be found. If the ant problem gets resolved, I would state, without a doubt, that Mitree House would be fantastic. The staff is great and super helpful, and the location is close to the train station and local markets. Staying in Trang - at the Mitree - was a highlight of my trip. If you get the opportunity, rent a motorbike and explore the countryside.

-the hotel management very good, polite. room is very clean & tidy. -there provide service for us from trang town to koh mook. (van and board). for 1st timer to koh mook is very easy. -all place can reach by walking or taxi. -koh mook emerald cave is the main purpose for my trip. emerald sea and white sand which achieve the world fame.marvelous natural surroundings, white clean sandy beach, emerald colored sea where every group of tourists will spend some time admiring after swimming through the cave's entrance.

first we didnt expect the private room would be directly next to the lobby so any noise would be heard easily. the location was very difficult to find as we rented a car and drove to the location following google map. the soi in front was very narrow (one lane) and we had to call the hostel for directions (as a bangkok person who drives daily in the city). the parking space was limited. our rented toyota fortuner fit perfectly but two could squeeze in. the room was very spacious, the ceiling was high and the small garden added sense to more space. the decoration was like the old Trang city but fusion together with modern. the bathroom was extremely clean (coming from a clean and neat freak). soap and shampoo was plenty not like those small little bottles that you had to use wisely. drinking water and simple coffee was present at the lobby. theres a fridge that you can take more water if you needed it. simple breakfast was available in the morning (self serve) but my group went out to eat breakfast somewhere else. the cafe/co-working space right next to the hostel is a must visit. having a drink and sitting facing the street of old city Trang gives full relaxation to the escape from the busy bangkok. variety of drinks (non alcohol) and desserts to choose from. nice place to hang around and not so crowded. the price was reasonable. in the private room would be considered to be sound proof to a certain point (i have very good hearing and need extreme silence for sleeping). the night we stayed was a friday night and I can hear music from probably a local pub from the distant at night. but it was only heard from the bathroom, the sound didnt reach the bed fortunately. I did get a good night sleep. Except for one thing was that the room had a mosquito and it did bite me during the night which made it unpleasant. but being in the south of thailand mosquitoes are a problem for non locals. that was only the bad point of the stay here. my advice would be spray the room

A good waypoint to stop and collect yourself if you're not in a hurry to get to another part of Thailand. It's really hotel utilised mostly by Thai tourists, but don't let that dissuade you. The rooms have a personal router, the net speed is reasonable, it's capped at about 20Mbps, even though the hotel is fitted out with fibre, you don't necessarily benefit from this. This a good, clean, reasonably priced, user friendly hotel a stone throw from Trang hospital. The area is nothing to write home about, but Trang tends to cop a smattering of foreign tourist, generally on their way to the islands.

We needed a place that would be close to my wife's relative and we picked the Thumrin Hotel. It is the little sister of the much larger Thumrin Hotel which is not in the most central location. The hotel was old but very clean. It had a lift which made it easy to get to our 6th floor room. The only issue was no restaurant on the premises but that was acceptable since we had a rental and my wife and her sister had already picked out breakfast, lunch and dinner restaurants, Trang/south Thailand style. Parking was available in a lower garage parking floor and was big enough for most of the car of their guests. Another note, if you ask for any additional pillows (there were 3 in the room for the two of us), the hotel would charge for it. Check-in and check-out was fast and simple. If you had to mail something off (like we did for some of the items we bought), the post office is right across the street, no hunting. And of course, the ever present 7/11 was a few doors down and a Bangkok Bank was just across the street too. The hotel is situated a half a block from the train station and every evening, the night market is open there. It was a most reasonable place to stay.

We booked 2 different rooms for NYE, which was across the whole resort far away.as family we wanted to be close to each other so we changed it on arrival to for 2 beach front cottages for the same price as better equiped cement house.but we been next to each other.this decision was good coz during a day was area near the swimming pool noisy and our part was really quiet so can enjoy empty beach and silence.this resort is good for total relaxation.beer,book and sun.perfect.if u get bored u can rent a canoe for free or for money can rent a bicycle which we used.island is very small so its easy to explore local villages and country side.the food in the hotel was tasty.servis by it self need to improve start from the english to way to serve.some orders i had to request few times to get it, or they changed the order or waited really long.the english speaking staff -only 2receptionists and the owner.all staff were friendly and try to help w all requests and questions.enjoyed the holidays the way we wanted.recommending this resort for tasty food and amazing location right on the beach and far away from noisy and crowded places.

Great rock climbing on site (bring your gear, ideally). Tents and beds are clean and comfortable. Staff is excellent, as well as food! Overall, pricey by Thai standards, but well worth it if you're looking for that secluded island to yourselves (more or less- there were only 4 other couples there during our stay.) Make sure to catch the bus that leaves Sri Trang hotel at 10AM to transport to the boat ride that they provide (for 1600 Thai Bhat/person round trip.)

Love this place. Conveniently located right across from the train station and travel agencies. An older building that’s been renovated nicely. Simple, yet stylish without crossing over into the realm of overwrought hipster boutique that so many places in Thailand have become. The stained wood doors and thunderstorm-blue wall paint complement each other really well. The bathroom is all lacquered concrete with new equipment and is very clean. Staff is great, accommodating and friendly, but I took one star off because they’re still working on their English (and haven’t really figured out how to fry an egg). Likewise the facilities - very good internet, and a convenient little fridge in the room, but my air conditioner is a little overwhelmed by this tropical Trang heat, and the bed, while otherwise very comfortable, features the Southeast Asia-standard near-rock-hard mattress. These are very minor complaints, though. Overall, ChomTrang is an excellent place to stay.

a large well-design room with huge outdoor bath tub (but u must bring bath foam by urseft) There is no swimming pool Foods are tasty at reasonable price at "play-yuan restaurant" In this visit I have a trouble with booking problem but hotel staffs and agoda staff also are really helpful and nice, thank you I recommended this resort if you plan to stay at Pak-meng beach

We have stayed at the Libong Beach resort before and loved it and we returned. We had a fantastic stay, the rooms were great as always and food fantastic. Cuisine option is limited to Thai but its wonderful with spectacular seafood dishes. The staff were excellent and friendly as always. There was a bit of a confusion on the room type - We had booked a beachfront bungalow through agoda but that was not available when we got to the resort. They put us in another comfortable room with a partial sea view and then changed us to a full sea facing room the following day. The confusion in the booking seemed to be a comunication lapse between bookings done directly through the resort vesus those done through agoda and the availability is possibly not always synced. We had no problem since they gave us an equally good alternative, but would be good to ensure this mix up does not happen.

Clean hotel with firm beds and perfect for a day or two in Trang. Don't expect a resort or breakfast in the morning. What you can expect is efficient check-in and check-out, a very clean room, a firm bed and restful sleep. Don't be put off by the location as it is behind the train station. There are only 2 passenger trains a day which arrive and depart during waking hours. It is an easy walk to the center of town through the sleepy rail station. In front of the rail station is a night market with clean food. Exiting the front of the rail station if you turn right the second store after the beauty salon is a great coffee shop called "Sin O Cha". Who needs a hotel breakfast if you allow sufficient time (11 am flight to Bangkok and the breakfasts in town start at 0630). Trang is famous for approximately 70 dim sum restaurants The hotel can arrange a Trang style Tuk Tuk to pick you up for a trip to the famous Ruean Thai (075 219 342), one of the city’s best-known dim sum eateries. In his cavernous restaurant located slightly outside downtown Trang, early risers are blessed with a selection of more than 40 steamed dim sum items. “We make all our dim sum by hand,” states Khun Jaa the owner. The Tuk Tuk will take you back to the hotel to collect your bags and the take you to the airport. All in all a great morning and it is a far better experience than a hotel breakfast.

We had a nice stay at Koh Mook Nature Beach Resort with our 10 month baby. She and us enjoyed the sincerely friendly people working at this place - happy time every day. Room was truly mosquito proof so no need for net. They don't have baby cot but put extra bed with protection around it. Don't use the transportation offered by resort manager. It's overpriced and low quality. We booked private a mini-van to Trang for a high price which should be new and safe for baby and ended up to share the transport with 3 other people + and old bus with no seat belts. Better book in village, e.g. Mr Yong, half price, better quality.

The Queen Trang Hotel has a good location in Trang and is easily reached by car or via foot from the Railway Station. Whilst a lot of tourists just stop in Trang as a staging post to the southern islands we were pleasantly surprised by the town and what it had to offer. The night market by the train station was great and had a huge selection of food to try. This hotel has dated decor but it clean and the staff were very friendly. Very limited breakfast choices though, 3 set menus which were almost identical.
