Fantastic Hotel, Great People, Great Food”
My stay at Richman Poorman was simply amazing. I stayed in a sea view room for 8 days. I didn't want to leave. First, the owners are an American (Long Island) and his Thai wife. They are such nice people. If someone is acting stupid (like bothering another guest), then they're going to call them out on it. But, if you're cool, then they will be so incredibly nice to you. Eddie is such a kind person. He is willing to bend over backwards for you, just to make feel more comfortable. He'll help you in any way that he can, without taking advantage of you. You can feel safe with Eddie. I loved the friendliness there. That's my number one favorite thing about Richman Poorman. Secondly, the food is unbelievably good. Everything I had was perfect American food. They had a lot of different food, from filet mignon and lobster bisque, to philly cheesesteaks and chicken parmigiana. I think that Eddie is a trained chef. If he's not there, then their well trained staff makes the food as good as the Master does. I can't say enough about the food at Richman Poorman. Thirdly, my room was one of the 8 renovated rooms. I thought it was such a great deal (big room, you can hear the water on the shore, king size bed, nice comforter, flat screen TV, split type air conditioner, etc.). It was a great room. If there are noisy people on beach road late at night, then you just tell the owners and they call a city hall phone number. The police come and tell the noisy people to go away. Awesome. My room was fantastic. Richman Poorman is like a hotel, restaurant, and social club. You get a lot of Western expats there, and they like to sit and talk. They're so friendly; Americans, Brits, Aussies, etc. They're a nice class of people. All of them are like Eddie in that they're willing to be friendly and help you. It feels like that old American TV show called Cheers. I had an amazing stay at Richman Poorman. I'm going back in October, and then again in December.

Comfy bed and good view!”
I live and work in Bangkok and so I went to the Richman Poorman Guesthouse to have a nice long relaxing weekend. I arrived on Sunday night before the Monday bank holiday which meant that Thais were still about and they partied almost all night. (I prefer Jomtien beach to Pattaya beach because it's a family friendly location with a good vibe unlike Pattaya which is party central and quite seedy.) Now, despite Sunday night's car music being quite loud the other 2 nights I spent there were lovely and peaceful. (I would suggest if you don't like loud music being played from cars don't stay in Jomtien beach (or Pattaya for that matter) during the weekend and rather go during the week) I stayed in a Sea View room with balcony and despite my view being obstructed by electric cables, I could still see the sea, the horizon and sky, which made my stay all worth the while. My room was very large and the bed was one of the comfiest beds I have ever slept on (especially here in Thailand). It was like sleeping on a cloud! (I know that's not physically possible but still it was super soft but not too soft. It was like being cuddled to sleep). A colleague of mine stayed in the room above which was a bit smaller but she said the bed was equally as comfortable and because she was a floor higher her view was not obstructed by the cables. I would definitely recommend this guesthouse if you are wanting to escape the chaos that is BKK. The room was on the 4th floor so you could see above the trees, even though that isn't really an issue because directly in front of the hotel there aren't that many trees so you get a direct view of the sea! I stayed in room 42 and my colleague was in room 52. I would recommend both rooms! I did not eat here so I cannot give my opinion on the food offered, but there is a very good Thai-muslim place a stone's throw away on the main road on the right going towards the night market. :)

wonderful place to stay!”
From the very start at check in, I was introduced and greeted by the owner. I can't say enough good things about him and his wife, and they made us feel so welcome. Richman Poorman is like being in a family. It's a home-like atmosphere! The owner was also extremely accomodating with travel suggestions and directions, arranging transportation, he even drove us 40 minutes to Nong Nooch Gardens himself! The staff was so nice and great cooks, the food is all western, no local, and the whole menu is delicious. The downstairs restaurant bar has live and replay NFL games, so that was great too. We had excellent laundry service as well. I would absolutely recommend Richman Poorman to anyone who enjoys nice people and and nice comfortable atmosphere. You can't beat the price, either. I will make my next stay in Pattaya/Jomtien at Richman Poorman for sure!

Great Value, Friendly Staff, Superb Service & Food”
Wonderful friendly English Speaking staff greeted and welcomed me like an old friend. Attentive to needs like an extra pillow of two for my bad leg, great ocean view on the top floor, Amazing value right on the beach for very smart $$$$$, and a large comfortable bed. Free Friday afternoon buffet with your bar tab, on Wednesday and Saturday they grill the most lovely Steaks and Pork Chops for a very modest price. Tuesday's and Thursdays they sell a wonderful cheese pizza for 105 Baht. Excellent Americal or English style breakfasts and lots of different homemade soups. There is a Family Mart and 7-11 right down stairs on beach road and of course the guesthouse is right across the road from Jomtien Beach. i cozy, inviting value for a pittance, this guesthouse has great staff, security, and freindly service and is the best value for a night on the beach. I highly recommend it and will be back as soon as I have enough vacation to go back. Thanks and best regards to Richman-Poorman for a great stay..... Cheers - G

The Friendly Guesthouse”
if you are looking for liviered doormen and marble mirrored reception areas, then this is not the place for you. if however you require what can only be described as a home from home, with helpful staff and, clean rooms, then this is a gem! eddie the owner is a larger than life host, who made myself and my daughter feel really at home. the guesthouse position is on the corner of soi9 and beach road jomtien which is only a 10min ride away from central pattaya and the beach is 60meters away.i have no hesitation in recommending richman poorman guesthouse and will visit again if i can .

Great location, great rooms, great restaurant”
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable, and excellent free wifi in the room and bar/dining area. Best of all was the breakfast. Jomtien is a beautiful beach and it is directly across the street from the guesthouse. It is very easy and convenient to get to Pattaya on a "baht bus". For your stay in Jomtien or Pattaya, Richman Poorman Guesthouse is your best bet.

location, very clean, value and friendly. ”
I live in bkk, and I go to Pattaya every 2 weeks.I have tried so many guesthouses , and the problem always the same (bad cheap bed that gives you back pain, stinky bathroom, wet bathroom when taking shower, non English speaking staff ,very bad food and 90% of the time not friendly staff. But staying at Richman poorman guesthouse was a game changer for me, I really hit the jackpot , and all the bad things I described above don't exist at this guesthouses. You can enjoy a big clean room, no bad smell, dry bathroom floor, friendly staff and owner , amazing location, amazing breakfast and very relaxing bed. I will come back to stay at this Guesthouses without any hesitation.

A lot of WOW for the buck”
They have the BEST DAM BREAKFAST in Thailand. It is right on the beach with everything you need within a block. The bed slept well. They main staff was Thai but some of the nicest people you would ever want to meet. I will never even take a chance staying at another hotel in Pattaya. They have the food you need when you get tired of the Thai food and I love Thai food. But offten the food in places may sound like at home but it comes with a Thai twist still. This place really has good American and others when you do get tired and want a taste of home. It is not a 5 Star but with the beach, the food, the staff Yes it is a 5 star. I will be going back to Richman Poorman Guesthouse. Wesley

Great Stay”
This is the second time I have stayed at the Richman Poorman hotel and both times have been great. Eddie, the owner works hard to make sure his customer’s needs are met. He will give you advice about different activities, directions, attractions and any warnings that may be appropriate. The staff in the restaurant is friendly and will greet you by name once they know it. The restaurant has fantastic western food, (my favorite is the Ruben sandwich), and they put out Thai food at times, which I have yet to try. Eddie is a big sports fan and you can relax in the restaurant with other expats, sip beer and watch American football, baseball, golf and have a great time. The hotel is right across the street from the beach, with many activities there. Transportation to and from central and south Pattaya via the Baht bus is easy and can caught in front of the hotel. The only down side is there is no elevator but everybody needs some exercise and that is a very minor inconvenience for staying at what I consider to be a great hotel.

Worth evry Bath”
Nice and clean, big fresh rooms, every day fresh towels and sheets. Could use my shaverknife to shave looking at mirrorclean floor after daily clean from cleaning staff. Nice american food, rich portions. Have no Thai-food, but 15m from entrance is a thairestaurant located, and it is OK to bring food from there to eat at Richman Poorman Restaurant if needed from your other part´s at the table. Location god in Jomtien, not 100% if you need 100% party, but instead U can sleep nice in perfect bed. If need party 1km to walk along nice beachroad or take the car 10Bath. This is American hospitality when it is best.

One of the best guesthouses i have ever stayed at.”
Richman Poorman would be the best Guesthouse I have ever stayed at.The rooms are big, clean and overlook the sea. The staff are great and the owner Eddie, an American, could not be more obliging. Any request is dealt with quickly and efficiently. The restaurant food is fantastic, big serves, sumptuous home cooked meals. However, the free buffet on a Friday afternoon is unmatched. Any item of food is replaced before it runs out. Only minor criticism, it would be good to have tea/coffee facs in the room and it is a long way to the bus station to Bangkok. If you have baggage I would not recommend taking a motorbike.

great location”
My stay at the Richman Poorman Guesthouse was great. The only thing was the staff weren't that friendly. Every time you leave the guesthouse they ask you to leave the keys with them, however I got the impression that I was a pain whenever I asked for the keys back. Also walking through the dining room to get to your room is a little awkward - but they don't make you feel less awkward. Owner was very helpful and drove us to our bus station when we have to leave :)

PROS AND CONS”
PROS - THE STAFF OF THE RICHMAN POORMAN GUESTHOUSE ARE A FAMILY. THEY ARE CHEERFUL AND HELPFUL. THE OTHER GUESTS TEND TO MIGRATE TO THE RESTAURANT/ENTRANCE AREA AS IT'S A COZY AND COMFORTABLE ATMOSPHERE TO DINE AND HAVE A DRINK. THE GUESTS VARIED FROM SOLO TRAVELLERS, TO FRIENDS, TO FAMILIES. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, CONCERNS, OR REQUESTS, THE STAFF ARE QUICK TO ATTEND. ALL IN ALL, A VERY PLEASANT GUESTHOUSE AND I WILL SURELY RETURN SOON. CONS - I DIDN'T ORDER THE PORK CHOPS (THEY LOOKED ABSOLUTELY MOUTH-WATERING DELICIOUS). THE VIEW FROM MY ROOM HAD SOME OBSTRUCTIONS.

Will come back!”
In the beginning we hv just booked for 3 days but finally we hv stayed there for 3 weeks:)coz we hd a large and comfortable room with balcony and best seaview incl. a variable and tasty breakfast for a good price (just the coffee could be more and in a much better quality), a good wifi connection, the stuff and the american boss hv been kind and everything else is close (beach, supermarkets, restaurants, market, public transport, airport bus, shopping centers). The location of the guesthouse at the corner of Soi 9 is the more quiete and clean part of the Jomtien beach road and no bars r around! I hv mentioned Golfhotel coz the american boss is a passionated golfer and is offering 3 times a week golf events. Further on it is offered once a week a free buffet (u just hv to order at least for 200 Tbh drinks) and once a barbeque dinner. In the restaurant is a computer with internet free of charge. They do hv different motorbikes for rent as well. All together we just can recommend the Richman and Poorman Guesthouse. Hope will get some more comfortable chairs and an umbrella for the balcony next time:)!

Great Hospitality and right at the beach”
Richman Poorman really hits the spot. If you want a homely place near to the beach with great western food this is perfect. The room was large and well appointed with comfortable bed, pillows and comforter. The TV was chunky and old but did the job none-the-less. The WiFi connection was also good. The room type lived up-to expectation looking straight out to the beach. This is excellent in every way... it gets two thumbs up from me.

Beach across the road, friendly atmosphere”
This is located at Soi9 on the corner with Beach Road, easliy accessed via Baht bus from Pattaya (15mins). Just remember the Sois are far apart as I found doing alot of walking, with Soi 9 far from 5 and 7, just past empty waste land on the left (they have night markets there). The owner is very congenial and a golf nut! The room overlooked the beach (just 20ms away across the road)which was a nice outlook, clean and comfortable as described in previous accounts here. There is a corner 7-11 type store and scooter taxis if the Baht buses are not for you. I got up early to walk the promenade path in both directions - with the best beaches at the corner of Jomtien on way to Pattaya where they have a gate stopping car traffic after 10am - the posh end of town! Large USA type meals at reasonable prices if that is what you are looking for - or try a breakfast down the road at cafes near Soi7 with views of beach and street life. The nearby market stalls are the best and cheapest places to buy swim gear, etc, rather than Pattaya. I would definitely recommend staying here and nice to escape the bustle of Pattaya for a while - still very accessible via bus throughout the night. We spent 10 days here.

Best of both worlds”
Great location in Jomtien. Quite, less-expensive place to stay then in Pattaya. Large high quality rooms with king beds fit for 5 star hotel (with great comforter). Large, portion "American diner" type of food usually around 200 baht ($6). I actually have never seen the food portions this big in Thailand. Internet was strong and reliable for Skpye, ect. If one wants, a quick 5-8 minute motorbike taxi to Pattaya and then back to the quite oasis! Overall, the best guesthouse I have experienced in the Pattaya/Jomtien area.

Good Value Close To The Beach”
We enjoyed our stay at Richman Poorman Guesthouse. The staff were very friendly on arrival and during our stay. The accommodation is very close to the beach and there is an onsite restaurant. Access to the various areas of Pattaya is quite easy utilising the local transport.

Well trained and accomodating staff, best location”
this was the best place i stayed at. located across from the beach, walked there everyday. at night took public transport into pattaya. the staff is some of the nicest people i have met. full of energy and enough seriousness to do a great job. they are well trained at western food and it shows by the amount of business going through the place. very popular with the local expats for there quality food, reasonably priced. i had eggs benedict that was fantastic. met many of the expats at the friendly bar. the rooms have all the things i wanted. surprised to see in a guesthouse at guesthouse prices. plenty of lighting, hot water st the sink and shower. a treat to shave with hot water. i will return
