Best Ryokan in Gunma Prefecture
It is located in Gunma-ken. You might only reach there by driving. There are several buildings in the area, which is really big. We spent a few hours to touring around. The place is very decent with an ancient and moody touch. The hotspring is very good. The room is super super spacious with high ceiling. Probably the largest room of a traditional Japanese Ryokan I'...
Room had a gorgeous river view. We fell asleep to the sound of the rushing water. Ryokan is easy to get to from the station by bus. The private baths were top notch, we did all three! Great option for couples, families, or travelers with tattoos who want to enjoy a peaceful onsen experience. Food was the best we had on our trip. There was a slight language barrier but ...
The owners are extremely friendly. They have collected a ton of items throughout their travels so the ryokan itself is a mini museum. Clean accommodations. The location is great. about a 3-4min walk from the central yubatake springs. Only downside is the steep Hill you have to climb to get to it. The hot springs water was the best part. One of the stronger baths we...
Great onsen that is value for money with all the facilities of a ryokan. Don’t have to spend like over 50k yen for a good one. Only bad point is that the view is practically nothing.
We had an excellent feeling with very personal service by the hotel.
My gf and I decided to walk to the hotel from the bus station to explore more of the beautiful town, which was only about a 10 minute walk. The hotel is situated on top of a hill between the Yubatake (town center) and Sainokawara park/onsen which I think is quite a good location. As soon as we arrived, the staff welcomed us warmly and helped us get checked in emphasizi...
The staff were lovely, the experience was good.
Very good experiences to stay in this hotel, for two nights we are totally enjoy the beautiful sight seeing and also met foxes beside the hotel it was fantasy experience for us.
If can arrange pick up fromJR station will be perfect.
Staffs gave us warm welcome during our stay. Kusatsu is really a place worth of staying, the onsen is natural and nice. But due to ryokan is traditional Japanese style, sound isolation is poor and you could hear any sounds from neighborhood.
The staff is not very nice. Even you speak Japanese with them. They treat the client in different manner as you are Japanese or not. The facilities are old but acceptable with the price. They mainly serves the elderly. You can book a shuttle (cheap) for Tokyo or Yokohama
At the best location in Kusatsu right next to Yubatake, Naraya is a well established ryokan of history. Despite the age, facilities are all kept in very good conditions. I appreciate in particular the onsen which feels even better to me than those fee-charging ones around Kusatsu. Dinner was excellent. My room was decorated with a theme, spacious and comfortable. ...
It felt like a family runned ryokan and most of the staff were older people so English was limited. They tried their best to make the guests feel welcomed by communicating in Japanese but the guests could guess from their expression on the message they wished to convey. The ryokan is near to the village centre and everywhere else so very accessible. Lovely and beaut...
Room to move and wonderful facilities. The staff are extremely good.
We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. Staff was very friendly, the service was top notch, and the rooms were massive. We really enjoyed it and will most definitely come back again.
Staff can speak good English and the ryokan environment is excellent. It locates just next to the stairs in Ikako. The female host came out to say goodbye to us when we check out and staff helped us to take picture in front of their ryokan. It’s a very memorable experience and hope I could visit again in the future.
The Nakaya Ryokan is the most excellent stay I had in whole Japan! Mr Tsuyoshi Abe and his family and staff are very helpful and greet me with a warm japanese hospitality. The room is very spacious and I really enjoy the traditional Japanese style living. I love the rooftop onsen so much. The surrounding is beautiful and relaxing, I really enjoy walking around Yubiso a...
Great food an excellent service. Staff were very friendly and accomodating.
The location is good and have parking (shuttle service also included), both dinner and breakfast quality is excellent and unexpected, they have many choices and eat until you full! Arcade game center and convenience store just near by. But Wifi signal only available in lobby area, also the hot spring is quite small and didn't have many choice as expected. Overall, it ...
Private and quiet ryokan and yet close to the yutabake. Only 6 rooms with private onsen so there is much relaxing in the ryokan without the crowd.
I went to Tamura Ryokan with my mother as part of our trip to tokyo. We took the tokyo-shima onsen bus which made the commute super easy. The ryokan is up on the hill- the highest point in the shima onsen area. My mom and I were carrying luggages and the staff members rushed to help us when they saw us nearing the entrance. We were really impressed with their kindness ...
☆ Free use of Yukata - ready in room ☆ Electric kettle ready with hot water, with complementary tea and use of tea set on table ☆ Free use of 24/7 onsen ☆ Comfortable futon and duvet ☆ Beautiful view of forest from room ☆ TV, fridge, toilet, wash basin installed in Japanese room ☆ Excellent Yoshoku breakfast set - included in package (can opt for dinner if indicated) ~...
Perfectly located a mere 5 minutes walk from Yubatake and right next to a free public onsen, this ryokan is well worth its money. Got to experience a traditional Japanese inn, including a lovely breakfast of grilled salmon. Definitely the best hotel I've stayed at during this trip. The ryokan also provides discount coupons upon arrival which can be used at nearby attra...
travelled with 3 friends, loved place a lot!!! would def. go again if possible.
Pleasant hotel at cheap price with onsen. Good service and clean room. Onsen though is average with not so hot water.
The booking has been double charged.
Excellent food, breakfast and dinner. Staff are helpful. Onsen is very nice. Historic building, has history. Liked it very much.
The max stars I can give here is 5 but if I could I would give it more! Great hospitality in this mini ryokan with just a few rooms. Despite that, there are four private onsens to use with is very sufficient, all with the same spring water from Kusatsu onsen square. The breakfast included was spectacular. Would have been great if they did dinner as well. Definitely gre...
The place is nice and quiet. Rooms are quite spacious and clean. The view is nice. What is worth mentioning is that dinner and breakfasts are very nicely served and tasty (Japanese style). Yet, be aware if you are vegetarian of any sort - as most of Japanese hotels, this one also is not familiar with the idea of not eating meat. Onsen (guests can use one in hotel an...
This was the accommodation highlight of our trip! The ryokan itself was incredibly charming and spotlessly clean. We stayed in the room with a private outdoor onsen bath for 2 nights - soaking in the private tub with the enclosed garden around you, you get an excellent view of the surrounding mountains and lungfuls of the crisp fresh air. Such a relaxing treat! I can o...
Good place, good staff and kindliness
A very silent place as it location is far to city centre. Good onsen and dinning. Only the shuttle bus services is not frequently. Cannot enjoy night time in city.
very classic Japanese style inn with great architecture and atmosphere. perfect if you have a car, but buses are also available. ideal for a weekend off Tokyo
Mr Tendou (Priest) and the lady host are very kind and hospitality throughout our stay in temple. The place is clean and well maintained. Mr. Tendou also took his time to explain the history of the temple to us which I think is very interesting for us to understand Japan culture.
