Best Ryokan in Tochigi Prefecture
This hotel is a very traditional japanese onsen hotel located just besides the Kinugawa River. Our room has a great view overseeing the river and mountain. Rooms are equipped with Tatami beds and Japanese Rayon Robes are provided for adults and children. Communal onsen hot spring bath facilities are located at 4th level (separate facilities for men and women). This ho...
The hotel was dated and not worth the money. It was the most we paid per night for accommodation in our 3 weeks in Japan (last minute) and the worst room we had. We were disappointed, a lot of the town was booked out and we ended up staying here.
Really appreciate the level of service that Matsuya hotel provides. As we did not have a dinner reservation, they recommended and drove us to a local dinner shop nearby. Even though they tried to communicate with us with some limited English, their level of service is phenomenal and we will definitely return to Matsuya again. The onsen inside and outdoors are awesome!...
I'm a frequent hotel guest and stay in 5 star hotels often and I can say that this is one of the best, if not the best hotel I have stayed in. There is no gym, pool, bar or facilities that qualify it for 5 star status but the stay experience was so good that its 5 star in my book. Check-in was done in a small seating area and we were led to our room and introduced to ...
Absolutely love this place. Situated near the middle of an alleyway next to the National Park Office, this place offers the Japanese ryokan feeling. The manager is very polite and speaks good English. The Japanese food is excellent and exquisite and nicely presented in very traditional china. You dine in an individual Japanese room without seeing the other guests (but...
My stay was great. Me and my wife wanted to have a real authentic Japanese Ryokan experience and we got it. The room was great, the view was awesome, The Onsen was clean and relaxing and the staff was exceptionally wonderful and attentive to our needs. We decided to get a foot message during our stay which helped add to our comfort and our experience. Me and my wife bo...
For first time travellers to a ryokan like us, this was a great stay. If time allows it, I highly recommend those who are interested in staying at the ryokan to stay there at least 2 nights. We stayed there for 1 night only, and I honestly feel that it’s a bit too short, we arrived at the ryokan around 5pm, after dinner and hot spring it’s already time to sleep. Che...
Meals: Dinner is sumptuous. Very exquisite and delicate on every piece that is edible. Breakfast is good too and they include their local specialties like Yuba and Grilled fish in the menu. Location: We drove in from Tokyo to Nikko and hence was able to get to the Ryokan without much effort. Those who will be using train may not find it as convenient as other Ryokan...
We stayed at the Ryokan for one night in a traditional Japanese double room. The room was big and beautiful, the futon beds were really comfortable. We went to the Onsen around 9pm and had them for ourselves for most of the time. Especially the outdoor onsen is amazing, we had a great time relaxing there after a day in Nikko. It takes about 45 minutes to go to the Ryok...
Have always stay at conventional hotel and this is our first time staying at a Ryokan. The experience totally bring our expectations to the next level, the hospitality was warm and welcoming. When we walk towards the Ryokan with our luggages, the staff literally ran out to welcome us and help us bring our luggages all the way into our room. As we are foreigners, they e...
Biggest ryokan in the area. Great rooms and service with a kind staff that speaks English. Has a comfortable indoor and outdoor bath. The staff also loaned me their snow boots and gloves at no extra charge. Price is also very affordable with what you get in my opinion.
The staff were brilliant! They are so sweet! Normally we can't do a last minutes cancellation but we can with Nikko Senhime Monogatari. I booked for 2 rooms with 4 people and a child but at the last minutes 2 people and a child were cancelled. They let us cancel their reservation to the rooms and dinner/breakfast prices with agoda so that I can get some of it back. ...
Pros: (1) Best location to explore the UNESCO Temples and Shrines, only 150m away! (2) Wonderful caring hospitality , where they lovingly prepare each dinner and breakfast service as if they were serving their own families, and prepare the futons for our Japanese style room (3) Food quality is exceptional and variety is good (4) Extensive onsen facilities with both in...
great onsen and very nice food
I booked the place because it was near an onsen my mom and I wanted to try! It turned out to be better than we had imagined! We’re greeted by a very friendly staff upon arrival and immediately given tea and cake. After a long drive from Tokyo, it was a welcomed reception. Then we received a tour and shown to our room. The room was a traditional Japanese style room with...
We checked into the hotel quite late at night. Was kinda sad because we arrived nikko later than expected and i thought we were gonna miss the dinner.. but to our pleasant surprise the staff actually kept the food aside and set it up for us, even though it was about 2h past the stated dinner time! The traditional dinner (and breakfast too) was SO amazing - gotta try i...
Extremely pleasant ryokan with helpful staff and excellent facilities (including spa). Do NOT travel to Toku Nikko main station, as it hard to reach from there. Catch a local train (ryokan staff will advise).
I went skiing with my grandson, and the hotel was close enough and had a good rate.
We took the train from nikko to the stop before kinugawa onsen and then walked.l the 17 minutes to the ryokan. The staff were incredibly nice and got us checked in immediately. We booked the room with the bath on the balcony and it was amazing. We went to the nearby convenience store for some sake and enjoyed the bath while listening to the river. The water was almost ...
Very new hotel. Clean and comfortable though very small Onsen and bath area. Short stay is perfect. Location is a bit far away from town. Absolutely no problem with a car. Highly recommended
the price is cheap, the Ryokan is also clean and comfortable . looking forward to go to there again later if i travel to nikko next time !
It's a beautiful ryokan with nice onsens. You should consider this place only if you have more time spent in Nikko. Be prepared to spend half a day traveling to this place. Good for those looking for ultimate relaxation The place feels so "Zen"! It's a perfect place for anyone who wants to get back to nature. There's a small beautiful stream just 10 min walk from the ...
Great view from the room, free private baths on reservation base. Dinner and breakfast buffet with great variety. A bit old hotel with budget price.
My trip involved walking from Tokyo to Nikko, and I was mostly looking for hotels in which to just sleep for a cheap price. Being Golden Week in Japan, most of the hotels I stayed in were more expensive than their worth, however, Hotel Famitic Nikko was a real bargain. The staff was welcoming when I arrived, and not shocked to the point of not-being-able-to-communicate...
We had an excellent stay at Manzo Ryokan. The room was spacious and the food was really good and very filling. We had breakfast and dinner there during our stay and were very happy with it. The staff is so polite and warm. The onsen was nice too, but very hot!
A bit far from the city Nikko
A newly renovated room was given to us, spacious and clean. Good for family of 4-6members. There is also complimentary snacks inside the room. The staff was friendly and quite accommodating.
