Best Ryokan in Yamagata Prefecture
The ryokan locates near the upper end of the onsen street if you treat the bus stop of zao onsen station as the starting point. I think we have walked for like 6 to 8 min to get there. The room for us is big, with separate toilet and washing basin onside the room, which we don't expecte before There is some mould smells but it is still fine. Inside the ryokan, the...
Location is great near bus stop, staff can speak English , dinner is good and service is good to me like stay at home
The place is beautiful and our room was both large and comfortable. The onsen is huge and lovely. Service is tops, from free train station transfers to handing us umbrellas for the rainy evening and storing our luggage while we toured Yamadera after we checked out. I wanted to do a special call out to Miki, their English-speaking staff member, who helped us get hol...
The hotel (rather than a ryokan) is situated within walking distance from the train station and all sights. Staff is extremly friendly and caring to make on feel at home. Very nice public bath on the top floor, incl. open air bath. Extensive japanese breakfast buffet. Only downturn was that the bathroom could have been cleaned a bit more thoroughly.
very nice hotspring. need to walk 5min to ski slope. located in front of bus station. i very much liked everything in the hotel. family hotspring is a must!
The place is located about a 10 min walk to the nearest ski lift, has two hot springs that were excellent after a day of skiing. The dinner was exceptional, with fresh meats, sashimi, soups, veggies. There are a couple of massage chairs in the lounge, that were utilized by me a lot. The rooms were large and the tatami futons were actually very comfortable and I slep...
Very good location as it is juz beside a ski centre with a ski school. The hotel staffs are very friendly and helpful. I enjoyed the 2 onsens so much. Great experience for me to try their open air onsen on a winter snowing day haha. One of the service provided that shocked me is they will drive you anytime to anywhere in Zao Area. I appreciate that so much. This Zao T...
Lovely relaxing, peaceful, self-contained ryokan perfect for getting away from it all. The breakfasts and dinners were magnificent (Japanese style). The staff were attentive & helpful (suggesting the nearby river cruise as a morning activity). We were picked up & dropped off at the train station & driven to the starting point for the river cruise. The rooms were comf...
We had the tourist information at the Zao Bus Terminal call the hotel for pick up. It’s a rather large ryokan but it’s still cosy. Japanese style room with shared toilets which are okay. The onsen is great, they have an outdoor and an indoor one and a separate sulphur one. A 10 minute walk from the gondolas which take you to the slopes. Lawson is located across the w...
This ryokan has its price, but it‘s definitely worth it! The location is great, at the outskirts of peaceful Kaminoyams, close to mountains, woods and Onsen, with a really nice public bath and great, comfortable Japanese-style rooms! The staff is incredibly helpful in any situation or troubles, and heartwarmingly welcoming, and the traditional Japanese breakfast is als...
I booked Tsuruya Ryokan for my parents-in-law(60's couple) who from the overseas to visit my home town. To be honest I was worried about if they could feel comfortable for few nights, however they absolutely loved there and had a wonderful experience. Especially they were really happy to sleep on the western style low bed instead Futon bed on the floor, which made the ...
I had a wonderful time at this onsen hotel! The service was excellent, the hotel was beautifully preserved, and the meals were excellent! I told some Japanese people in a city about 2 hours away that I would be staying at this hotel and they seemed to be impressed.
I had a great first ryokan experience here—the staff was super kind and accommodating and spoke enough English to help me out. I requested a vegetarian breakfast and it was so delicious. Since it was raining (very lightly actually) on the morning of my departure, they insisted on driving me the 2 blocks to the bus station. So nice. I loved the outdoor onsen and takin...
very nice Japanese traditional hotel! Although the staff can not speak English, but they try their best to serve us!!!
