A little biased since my stay was during a storm so the age showed. On a nice day, it's right across from a black sand beach. Not too far from shops and the train station. The baths were great although I wished they were a little hotter.

夜に着いて朝早くに宿を出たため猫とはほとんど出会えませんでしたが、最後の最後に部屋に顔を出しに来てくれました！ お風呂は小さめですが湯船があり、体を温められます。 ロケーションは、観光地にはとても近くに位置していますが、駅に行くとなると遠めです。 次来るときはもう少しゆったりした日程にしようと思います。

The Shoraku Ryokan in Ozu is about 30 minutes walk from the station but there is a bus stop right outside and it is right in the centre of everything you might want to visit in Ozu so I would say its in an excellent location. The hotel is staffed by many, many cats, I love it. Every door has a catflap (lockable) to let them in and out, the hallways have beds and toys and in the evenings you can give them treats with the owner in the communal area. There are also two small personal onsen which are very comfortable and pleasant. The areas can be a little dusty and I always miss a fridge when it is absent but the cats and the price are amazing so I overlook all of that. The room itself was large and comfortable, there is no lift but every corridor has a tea machine and free laundry area as well as communal toilets. Unless you are allergic or dislike cats I would recommend staying here if you are in Ozu, or passing Ozu, or near Ozu... or just want to come play with the cats!
