Great in Everyway”
In my view one of the best places to stay whilst on Koh Samui, a very clean well serviced self contained cottage set in lush gardens ( well the beach originally ) about a 10 minute walk to the main nightlife of Chaweng. I've been coming here for a good few years now and hopefully a good few years in the future. All the staff at the hotel are so friendly - its like a home from home. Thanks to all Tradewinds Staff ( again )

Thai Style Bungalows in great location”
Not 5 star but neither was the price. Well located in a garden setting on the beachfront with a new swimming pool, excellent friendly staff. Bungalows were basic but clean, with a large fridge and working air conditioner. First impressions of the reception and breakfast area made us worry that we had booked a run down place to stay, however the breakfast was good and and eating outside overlooking the beach was very nice. Had we been walking past looking for somewhere to stay we would never have picked Tradewinds based on the street frontage of the reception area. We had a lovely stay and prefer the bungalows to a larger more impersonal resort.

Good place - but beach is deserted at night”
Pros: good swimmable beach, large enough pool, friendly staff, close to everything on Chaweng street (food/massage/7-11/etc.), convenient car/motorbike parking, nice garden, good cleaning outside and in rooms. Pool and restaurant are facing the beach. From sea view bungalow you can actually see the sea and sunrises, and you have direct pool access. Most guests were older German folks, not too loud. The staff occasionally brought free shakes in the afternoon and once threw a free cocktail party - a pleasant surprise. Cons: restaurant closes at 6-7 pm, and the same happens in all nearby resorts. The beach is dark and deserted at evening, you have to walk like 15-20 minutes to north Chaweng to have a drink at beach with music/fire show/people going by. Poor breakfast selection. Shower gel/shampoo very bad. Too few pool beds.

ONLY PLACE TO STAY!!”
Look no further. I have stayed 5 times in Samui and this is the place to be!! From the beginning of your entrance, the front staff are wonderful and helpful. Right on the beach, gardens, grounds, pool--GORGEOUS!! Beach is immaculate with ZERO litter and great waves for afternoon body surfing!! :) Breakfast great, lots of choices from fruit to cereals, to cheese, to thai, to good ol' sausages and bacon with toast. Serene, calm, great for singles and couples. Great ladies for the best massages in Samui next to the pool (trust me, I tries maybe 20 shops in Samui)...I cannot say enough good things about this place. Rooms are clean, spacious, airy, beds have crisps cool sheets and fresheners every day. Enough said! :) Thank you to all the great staff during my stay and see you soon!

The best position in Samui”
Holiday at Tradewinds was as usual very relaxed and enjoyable and the upgrade of the Units and addition of swimming pool excellent. The only very minor complaint we had this year was the lack of bacon and the "Fisherman's "breakfast which we have always enjoyed on previous visits, and the fact that only a very small amount of bottled water is now available in room. Considering Samui's water supply is not considered drinkable we would have thought at least a litre of bottled water would be provided on a daily basis. I would rate the Tradewinds as three star accommodation and would recommend it to our friends. We'll be back again next year. Estelle from Australia

Tradewinds still our favorite spot”
We have been visiting Tradewinds for well over 10 years, usually in the October mid-term school break, just before the high season starts. We love the fact that it is an older, unpretentious, quiet little resort in a serene and mature coconut grove based garden. It is right on one of the best spots of Chaweng beach. It is quiet, but if you want, you can walk to the more boisterous parts of town. The new pool is a nice addition. The hotel could improve on the F&B section though. But then, it is easy to step out onto the street or onto the beach and try some of the many stalls, hawkers, bars and restaurants around.

Quiet hotel, close to busy Chawang nightlife”
Tradewinds was a great stay for us! Located right on Chanwang beach rd, but a very quiet place to stay. The gardens are beautiful, staff all smiles and friendly, and happy to lend a hand whenever needed. From our cabin we could walk through the grounds and be on the beach in less than 2 minutes which was wonderful. Breakfast was ok, they're was something different every day, but could use some improvement. It was a great value for money stay, and I'd definitely stay again!

Great Value ”
For me the location was perfect, a 20 minute walk to the action, which means it is quite there at night. The Seafood Walking market is out the front door, so there are many choices for meals. The staff is lovely and very accommodating. I wish there was an asian breakfast and the western one is standard. If you are paying the upgrade for sea view find out the room only a couple have a true sea view most are more like a peak a book view. The sand at this part of the beach and the view is really spectacular, weather you choose to lay by the pool or directly on the beach the view is breathtaking. For hotel massage the prices are very fare, and worth every baht. I normally shy away from beach massages but these are very well set up and the staff are very well trained. I even noticed that locals come to this hotel for massage because of the quality and location.

Helpful staff”
The staff at Tradewinds are extremely helpful and do their best to satisfy their customers. Mum had a late flight and the staff allowed her 8:00 pm check out. We had one day raining all day. Water was getting through the roof, the staff got on it right away and fixed it. As well as offered change of rooms. The only negative part is that mum find in her bungalow a cockroach almost everyday. I was lucky I didn't have one in the whole time of our stay.

Nice Bungalows”
We had a bungalow for two persons with an extra bed. The extra bed was really uncomfortable but our Kingsize bed was good. The bungalow was not so big but you have enough space to put all your things. The bathroom was really big and made out of stone (not like a lot of other bungalows out of bamboo). You have a directly access to the beach and on the other side to the main spots of Chaweng like Bars, Restaurants and shops. My feeling was that the hotel area and especially the restaurants/bar are is under renovation at the moment. But it looks good and I think the location is becoming better. Th food and beverages in the restaurant/bar are a bit expensive but the breakfast was totally okay: some bread, marmelades, variations of eggs, sausages, juices, coffee and tea, fresh fruits, muesli and a daily changing warm dish like Pad Thai.

Nice location with big room and valued for money”
I was expecting less for this price of family room at Chaweng beach. The hotel is located in the quiet area of the beach. Apart from having all the workers gathered around because they are having the renovation of their swimming pool, everything is great!

Beachfront - Fair for Samui”
Pros- beachfront; good location, if you prefer a short walk to the action instead of being in the middle of it; Good AC & hot water. Price - Samui prices are too high, so while expensive, Tradewinds is fairly priced. Cons- hard to call eggs and toast (if the toaster is working) a buffet.

Centrally located if you want to be in Chewang.”
A good location for Chewang, but it is an old hotel,it is under new management and they are in the process of building a swimming pool which will over look the beach.Bungalow large and clean but old and furniture needs updating. Beach at first look, looks lovely but by lunchtime brown scum can be seen a few yards out which looked like the are putting untreated sewage into the sea so we did not go swimming.Very disappointing!!!No wonder they are building a swimming pool!! So for us we will go else where in Koh Samui.

Nice enough mid-range place; great staff and location; a little dated”
This place is right in the heart of Chewang and close to all kinds of services. They have a beautiful of stretch of beach and a decent, if small, pool. There is a bar and restaurant by the pool charging reasonable prices for meals and drinks. The cocktails are watery; stick to beer. The included breakfast I found quite nice -- lots of fresh veggies, eggs to order, yogurt, etc. Healthy way to start your day. The staff were very responsive, helpful, and pleasant. You can get a massage right by the pool. The basic setup is bungalows around a garden; the garden opens into reception and the street at one end and the pool and then the beach at the other end. The garden is lush and beautiful (pro!) but also perfect mosquito habitat (con!). They were one of the relatively few places which had a family bungalow with three beds, which was one of the main reasons we choose it. The facilities were pretty tired and dated. Our bungalow had a musty smell that never really went away. The wifi was terrible. Considering what we paid, I would have expected the facilities to be a bit nicer and cleaner, but it was certainly fine and we didn't spend a lot of time in our rooms anyway. Overall, we are satisfied and would stay here again, but it's about time for them to invest a little bit in refreshing their facilities!

We have stayed here several times over many years under both the old and new owners. It is basic, but clean and comfortable cottages in a great location. That is the main reason we continue to stay here. We will be back again.

Hidden Gem in the heart of Chaweng”
This is a great hidden gem, right next to Centara at a fraction of the price. Obviously not at the same standard of Centara, but the rooms are large and clean - the family rooms are huge. Grounds are lovely, pool is not huge, but a good size and position on the beach is fantastic.

Good value”
I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. It is not 5 star but for the price and location offers good value for money. I found all the staff very helpful and friendly. Lovely gardens but remember to take mosiqto spray.

Awesome location, friendly staff. ”
I stayed 4 nights in a garden bungalow. It was a beautiful setting and the hotel is in an amazing location close to all amenities. Dan greeted me at the front desk and everyone was all smiles. I had a few beach massages and the girls were very fun (lots of giggling). The room was very clean, breakfast had everything you needed. Can't wait to come back.

Definitely stay again”
Really enjoyed the stay. All the staff were very helpful and friendly and particular thanks to Sam the general manager for taking the time to ensure my father and I felt completely welcomed. Great service that puts other hotels and other countries to shame.
