Sauna
Honestly, I wanted to use it more.”
This hotel is almost perfect except for the fact that it is located on the 7th floor, which means that you have to use the elevator. Honestly, when I saw the exterior of the hotel, I thought there might not be a bathroom, but the entire 4th floor was made up of bathrooms, which were incredibly spacious. Sleepwear was also provided on the 1st floor, making it comfortable to sleep in. The hotel also had a sauna-style bathhouse that Koreans would be familiar with, and there were many restaurants nearby, making it a great location for eating out. There was even a separate space for smoking after taking a shower. Although it looked a bit old, it was clean and had everything you needed, making it very comfortable to use. The capsule room was small like any other capsule room, but it was well-maintained and a great hotel for solo travelers. The staff at the counter were also very kind and helpful, even when I had to extend my stay due to an unexpected typhoon. Overall, it was a great hotel except for the fact that it was located on a very high floor. If I come back to Tokyo, I would definitely want to stay here again.
Great accommodation experience.”
The location is close to the train station, making shopping and dining very convenient. There are many great places to eat and shop, and when you get tired, you can come back and soak in a hot bath or sauna before continuing your exploration. The capsules are very clean and there is not much smoke smell. There are designated smoking floors and areas, but the smell of smoke may still be unavoidable. It can get hot inside the capsule if the weather is too hot or if you just finished taking a bath, but it will get better after a while. Overall, staying here is very convenient and there is no need to switch accommodations.
Bad core experience (the pods are hot)”
The hotel is situated in a bustling shopping area and a few minute walk from the station, the location is excellent and right below it the shopping area is very fun. But, perhaps due to the sauna, the pods are a bit hot and humid. I went in December at the height of cold, yet I was still uncomfortable due to the warm humid atmosphere inside of them, I can’t imagine how it would feel during summer. The 5th floor bathrooms also had non-functioning bidets, likely the water pressure is too low as water comes out but it’s very weak and “doesn’t reach its target” The luggage storage area is on 3rd floor only so if you’re on 4th or 5th you’ll have to keep going to 3rd to fetch your luggage. Overall, all the criticisms are minor and given how cheap it is, it would be very easy to recommend despite all those minor complaints, but since the main core experience itself (sleeping) is unpleasant, I would recommend switching to another one in the same area possibly.
5 nights stay ”
Hotel in general is clean and well equiped but this is not the type of dorm I personally like. Hostel Oriental offers a cold staff in a massive sleeping industry. There are so many customers that you unfortunately notice how people are dirty and disrespectful; there were too often people sniffing their snot, burping and above all pissing a lake aside the urinal or as I unfortunately noticed on the toilet slippers which are dirty anyway. So I think toilets should be cleaned twice a day, at least. Also I learned there were only 1 functioning drying machine for more than 400 rooms, as the second one was out of order, which is not good when you want to do your laundry the day before leaving - I had to go to an outside laundry to finish. Last thing, the share space where you can eat is right aside the public bath; I had the pleasure to eat my meal while a guy was calling a buddy totally naked in front of the vending machine. In conclusion, hotel is more than acceptable but only to stay the shortest period possible, there should be effort from management to impose better rules in terms of each others respect. Location right aside of Keisei Station makes it perfect if you need to head to Narita though
Close to the station, very noisy”
I think they put all the foreigners into 7th floor, and the sauna is on the 4th floor so it's very far away to take shower, to smoke whatever but to sleep. Also the lockers and the restroom are very old, if you're staying on 6th or 7th floor, use the restroom on the 5th floor. Also people are so noisy at night. Even though there's rules like no talking, mute the phone, etc they constantly talk, phones are ringing and someone unzipped and zipped his carrier RIGHT IN FRONT OF MY ROOM for 20 minutes at midnight it drove me crazy. So I asked the manager if there were earplugs and he said no. Just buy some earplugs from the closest convenient store you can say "mimisen" and the worker at convenience will let you know where the earplugs are. Also the locker is very small, it can barely accept a small bag, no shoe locker so you should put your shoes in or out of the locker, my shoes were on the locker all the time. Of course, if you have a carrier, you should out it out like in front of your room or somewhere exposed. (You can ask the manager to keep it but it will be very uncomfortable) The sauna was really good. But the water was too hot, and too cold. (42°c and 13°c) also it was a bit old, but still, I loved it. My face skin was getting so clean and nice. Also people were so nice. Somebody let me know how to use the hot water dispenser and gave me some fried squid ring(?). The best part of this hotel was that it's very close to the station and cheapest in Tokyo. If I were able to go to Tokyo again, I would definitely go to this hotel again because it's cheap. 2 towels are provided every day. But it's super small.
